Rambo Cartoons & Comic Books Minisode (WTF Were They Thinking?)

[00:00:16] Alrighty gang, once again in the think of it, you'll hear us describe the very wacky, totally non-canon Rambo cartoon, and we'll be jumping back and forth between the recently funded comic books. I'll not only explain why they both suck, but I'll also explain why the comic books were funded by the infamous comic book company I really shouldn't name.

[00:00:42] You'll have to find out to figure out which infamous comic book company funded it. Long story short, it's the most non-progressive white supremacist company on the planet. Enjoy guys, and figure out why these are both two shitty tie-ins.

[00:01:33] Why do you think it's so funny that Rambo got not only two recent crowdfunded comic books, but an 80s cartoon show? Oh god, that was terrible. Oh god. Have you ever seen that, Hans? This is crazy. Dude, I miss the like, when you'd make toys and animated series off of like these R-rated movies. They had to kind of G.I. Joe them, didn't they? For the cartoon.

[00:01:59] Like, the Starship Troopers animated series is freaking insane to me. Roughnecks, man. Yeah. It's really good. It's also fun, but yeah, it is just wild. Robocop was another one. It was made into Saturday morning. It's pretty much trying to be like Robocop. They're already in toys of all these things. Toxic Avenger. Toxic Avenger out of cartoon, yeah. Yeah, absolutely no one who watched the cartoon also saw the movie and vice versa. But that's what's so weird. They're afraid. It's nuts. But well, and it doesn't make any sense.

[00:02:29] If you don't want to bring attention to an R-rated movie that you don't want kids watching, just say, don't watch it instead of... Yeah, it makes total sense if you're trying to get extra dollars though. Right. Not pretending. That's why we don't respect them because they're hypocrites. Truth be told, looking at these two Indiegogo campaign comic books, there was one called First Kill. That's such a goofy name.

[00:02:51] And then there was a new kind of war, which was basically just showing again, just Colonel Trotman's first mission in Korea. And I was really let down by both of these comic books. They're very rare. It didn't help that they were also co-funded by... They were released by the now infamous Comicsgate. What the fuck?! He should have more comic books, but unfortunately most comic books made of him are just... Yeah, you could've... ...proofly written and just... They're in the 80s cartoon style, so you're like...

[00:03:21] Yeah, if you got the team that had done the Conan comics, they would've understood the assignment very well. Big, tough guy, kills people indiscriminately, has a sort of code... You're talking about backing like the Ernie Chan days? Maybe, yeah. I know Liam Sharple would've done doing justice. Yeah, yeah, there we go. I knew my comic book guys. Liam Sharple, yep. You know, you get that, draw them all up, you know, get your Frank Frazetta covers on there, and have all... You know, have yourself just an absolute genius time with it.

[00:03:49] But unfortunately, like you said, it just... It's strange, just like video games. It sort of lends itself to that medium. Same thing now. It didn't work out. They didn't put the team around it. Same thing with Rocky. Back in the day, LJN made all like the adaptations and they were a fucking dog shit. Yeah, that's a big problem with... Yeah. Someone had mentioned earlier, because you killed it. Yeah, for a long time, for whatever reason, LJN had the contract and they're famous. If you're ever watching the angry video game nerds, he goes into it. They're fucking there. They just saw it. They were maybe the worst video game company. Yeah, because they just churned it out. They'd have like... Just churned out. Garbage.

[00:04:18] They usually had nothing to do with it. The film at all. LJN would do this. LJN would get the property and they'd be like, okay, we got a great idea. Let's ruin it. Yeah. Has anyone seen the film? No? No? Doesn't matter. Who gives a fuck it? Who gives a fuck it? Does anyone see the poster for the film? Let's do that. We have two of the interns over here who will make a little side scroller or something that's nothing. Well, I mean, they... They was... LJN was... LJN, and I've said this to people I know in the video game industry, you know, they had

[00:04:45] a great thing going with, you know, a lot of games that they made, but, you know, a lot of games, you know, they would get the movie rights and be like, okay, let's screw this up. People will buy it. We'll put the big shiny thing on the cover and then people eat it up like crazy. And I think that's the thing that happened. And, you know, LJN took the property and basically just said, fuck it. We'll do what we want to do here. You know? Yeah. I totally concur. We paid for the rights and now we're just going to turn something out and there's no internet. There's no one's going to say this is terrible.

[00:05:15] You saw this movie or you like this franchise. Okay. I'll buy it. Well, I'm like, like, like Josh is on you, like, like Josh is harping on so many of them feel incomplete. It's like, did you even complete this? Because do you remember the toy line? There was a Rambo. Toy line of Rambo. Wow. Yeah. I remember seeing toys. They were crap. They were part of the cartoon, I think. Right? I had no, they made, they made the machine gun from Rambo. The big time. Oh my word.

[00:05:44] They made the machine gun and it came with a, like a bandolero of bullets. You could wear a fake, a fake knife, a, you know, a headband. And then, and then Remco got the rights to Rocky. Right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:06:15] They, they did the, was it? They did the, the, the Rocky line. So it was, it was Rocky first one, Rocky second one, Rocky third, Rocky three with the trunks. Then you had Apollo Cree, um, one, you know, one and two, or then you had club or laying. Yeah. And then that was it. And then you had the one where you could put them in the ring and they could fight each other. It was like, he said, so like, that's what happened. You know, they would license the, you know, the, not MGM would license the toy.

[00:06:45] Let's see how this sells this Christmas. And of course Rambo didn't sell Rocky didn't sell because everybody was getting star Wars. GI Joe, you know, they didn't know how to market it.
