[00:00:12] Take a load off, Lassie. What's going on?

[00:00:15] Just strange sounds and jiggling and hissing. I also saw some things.

[00:00:25] What kind of things?

[00:00:27] Just general spooky type things, things that are hard to explain, like people that are there when they shouldn't be and should be when they aren't.

[00:00:36] And there were some chairs that moved on their own.

[00:00:39] Sure.

[00:00:43] Your place is haunted!

[00:00:45] No, no, no, it's not. It is not haunting you simpletons. It's just, it's nothing more than nonsense probably.

[00:00:51] And since nonsense is your specialty, I thought I would come here first.

[00:00:54] We missed. We loaded it. We edited it.

[00:01:07] Sometimes we get so deep into conversation that we have separate segments worthy of their own place in the sun.

[00:01:14] It's a reshuffled mini-episode.

[00:01:23] We'll get into our favorite Christmas and Halloween episodes.

[00:01:42] If we're going to name our favorite Halloween episodes of the Psych franchise, there's a lot to pick from.

[00:01:50] And it's so funny how Steve Miner of Friday the 13th and Lake Placid fame helms some of them.

[00:01:56] I mean, to me, it's my favorite is Tuesday the 17th.

[00:02:00] I mean, it's hard to beat that homage to the slasher flicks.

[00:02:06] Oh, yes. Oh my God, the camp counselor.

[00:02:11] And you know, it aired on February 13th, on a Friday the 13th.

[00:02:16] No!

[00:02:17] 2009.

[00:02:18] That's great.

[00:02:19] That's awesome.

[00:02:20] Oh my gosh.

[00:02:22] And that was one of those, like, how many references can you fit into one episode?

[00:02:26] They made a lot.

[00:02:28] And the answer is all of them.

[00:02:30] So, James Rode co-wrote and directed it.

[00:02:35] Mm-hmm.

[00:02:35] Oh, he directed that?

[00:02:36] I know he's a huge horror fan.

[00:02:39] He directed it and co-wrote it with Steve Franks.

[00:02:41] Yep.

[00:02:41] And so, that's how he got...

[00:02:43] That's right.

[00:02:44] You did list that as one of your favorites.

[00:02:46] Yep.

[00:02:46] But I do know that's how he got John Badham involved because American Werewolf in London.

[00:02:53] Not Badham, Landis.

[00:02:55] Oh, okay.

[00:02:57] Yeah.

[00:02:57] Yeah.

[00:02:58] I always got the two of them confused.

[00:03:00] But he was a big fan growing up of American Werewolf in London.

[00:03:04] And he was like, I need the guy who did that on here.

[00:03:08] I got to talk about the zombie episode in one of the final seasons.

[00:03:12] Oh, the last episode?

[00:03:13] It's just nonstop.

[00:03:15] Like, it's like they're having a nightmare within a nightmare.

[00:03:18] It just keeps going and going.

[00:03:20] Nightmare on State Street.

[00:03:21] Is that with Bruce Campbell?

[00:03:23] Yeah.

[00:03:23] Yes.

[00:03:24] Oh, there's that one too.

[00:03:25] Yes.

[00:03:26] Which I'm pretty sure that's the second to last episode of the entire show.

[00:03:29] I think, you know, in my notes, he said it's the last episode.

[00:03:33] Travis is the third.

[00:03:36] But it's a keeper because it's just like people know Bruce can do comedy, but it's just so

[00:03:44] rare that you see him doing something where he's not fighting aliens or zombies.

[00:03:48] We had that gag where he's slapping people from across the room with a big stick.

[00:03:54] I think he starts out.

[00:03:55] His name is Ashford Simpson.

[00:03:57] Yes.

[00:03:58] That's true.

[00:04:00] All that was missing was a Briscoe County reference, but that's perfect.

[00:04:04] That's amazing.

[00:04:05] Yeah.

[00:04:06] And again, you got Kurt Smith showing up in it.

[00:04:09] You caught me listening to my own music.

[00:04:12] Same episode.

[00:04:14] I'm surprised it didn't get Robert Englund to pop up in that as well.

[00:04:18] That would be great.

[00:04:20] Or even have, I don't know.

[00:04:22] I want them to go on like one of those other shows that's like used to be filmed over there

[00:04:26] like Bones or just be on the set of like just some other, like it doesn't even have to be

[00:04:32] a show.

[00:04:32] It can be like a fictional show within a show, but like have a show that's clearly a brutal

[00:04:38] minds knockoff or something.

[00:04:39] They just come on and interrupt the filming and they're like, oh, you guys are doing it

[00:04:42] wrong.

[00:04:42] Yeah.

[00:04:43] Yeah.

[00:04:44] Just troll them.

[00:04:45] That'd be great.

[00:04:49] I know there's plenty of other horror episodes.

[00:04:51] I mean, I know some people complain about the one that's in like the first season where

[00:04:55] Lassie's having like a partner played by Mercedes role.

[00:04:59] Oh, yeah.

[00:05:01] And I can see it's not quite there yet, but it's fun seeing Jules be like, this is the

[00:05:06] weirdest camp I've ever gone undercover at.

[00:05:10] Is that the sorority one?

[00:05:11] I think so.

[00:05:12] Yeah.

[00:05:12] Yeah.

[00:05:12] Okay.

[00:05:13] Oh, Scary Sherry.

[00:05:14] Yeah.

[00:05:15] Yeah.

[00:05:16] That's right.

[00:05:17] I think there was a werewolf episode.

[00:05:20] The werewolf episode.

[00:05:21] I did like.

[00:05:24] That was with Josh Molina, another West.

[00:05:28] Oh, that's right.

[00:05:29] Where he keeps thinking he's turning into it and he's just paranoid.

[00:05:33] Oh, but there was the vampire one with Corey Feldman as a bartender, too.

[00:05:37] I love that.

[00:05:38] And they're playing Lost Boys.

[00:05:39] I think that vampire one, which is called this episode.

[00:05:45] I love the also the title of it.

[00:05:48] This episode sucks.

[00:05:53] That's, I think, my favorite of the Halloween episodes.

[00:05:56] And mainly because I just love vampires.

[00:06:00] And also, I guess when they dressed up as Dracula, I think.

[00:06:04] Well, they get Buffy the Vampire Slayer in it.

[00:06:06] Oh, yeah.

[00:06:08] Yeah.

[00:06:09] That's a great.

[00:06:10] Christy Swanson comes in.

[00:06:11] Yeah.

[00:06:11] Yeah, that's right.

[00:06:13] Oh, my God.

[00:06:13] Yeah.

[00:06:14] And that was an interesting match for Say What You Will About the Actress off screen.

[00:06:19] It was awesome just seeing Lassie had someone to answer to who he kind of feared more than

[00:06:23] everyone else.

[00:06:24] That was always a funny gag.

[00:06:26] And it's not a Halloween episode per se, but who are you going to call from season one

[00:06:32] with Frank Whaley?

[00:06:33] Where he's got multiple personalities and he thinks he's haunted.

[00:06:37] Oh, yeah.

[00:06:38] I just I love Frank Whaley.

[00:06:40] Like, there's just something about that dude that is great.

[00:06:43] And that episode was just fun because you like getting to do that and like just the

[00:06:49] reveals of everything and how it went about for a first season episode.

[00:06:53] Because that first season, again, it's not as strong as the show got, but there were some

[00:06:57] real good ones.

[00:06:58] And that was one of them, I think.

[00:06:59] That and definitely the convention one that, yeah, it just you needed that moment where

[00:07:04] it's just like we got crazy clients over here.

[00:07:06] We're not sure what to think of them and a good segue.

[00:07:13] I mean, we got to talk about our Christmas episodes, but I definitely love the one where

[00:07:16] we see Gus's dad.

[00:07:18] Number one, you know, just Ernie Hudson is framed for murder.

[00:07:20] It's just the perfect example of a fear mongering neighborhood without.

[00:07:25] It's probably my favorite.

[00:07:27] And just the way that Christmas episode, wasn't it?

[00:07:30] Yeah, right.

[00:07:31] And just the way that person dies, you're like, good grief.

[00:07:34] What is that playing?

[00:07:35] I can't remember.

[00:07:36] Is that playing the whole sister angle, too?

[00:07:39] Kind of.

[00:07:40] The sister.

[00:07:40] The sister angle was in the second one.

[00:07:42] Oh, right.

[00:07:43] My bad.

[00:07:43] Was it?

[00:07:44] Okay.

[00:07:44] But.

[00:07:45] Oh, yeah.

[00:07:45] Because that's the one where his dad has lost his job.

[00:07:49] Just the shot.

[00:07:50] The Gus's dad trilogy.

[00:07:52] Just pull those in.

[00:07:55] Because when I think Christmas, the one where.

[00:07:59] The other.

[00:08:01] It's a wonderful life sort of spoof one.

[00:08:04] I don't remember the name of it.

[00:08:05] Oh, my God.

[00:08:06] Yeah.

[00:08:07] With Tony Cox.

[00:08:08] Yeah.

[00:08:09] That one I felt was a little weak, but it did have some funny moments.

[00:08:12] And I'm just glad.

[00:08:14] I always light up when I see Tony in a movie because, you know, he's come a long way from

[00:08:19] being a stunt guy to the dwarf actor who's now.

[00:08:23] I mean, he does a good job of being straight shooter to Sean.

[00:08:27] Like, you know, I remember his exact words, but he's just straight up with, you know, this

[00:08:33] is in your head, moron.

[00:08:37] You're trying to make sense of it.

[00:08:38] But this is all in your head.

[00:08:40] He's like, he's so funny.

[00:08:44] He's like, you're making their lives bad ad because it's in your head.

[00:08:53] Absolutely.

[00:08:57] One guest star I want to mention, though, was it was very subtle.

[00:09:01] His whole performance was Lewis Gossett Jr.

[00:09:04] Yes.

[00:09:05] Rest in peace where he's in the shining episode.

[00:09:07] That's a good horror.

[00:09:08] Roll back.

[00:09:09] Yeah.

[00:09:09] Yeah.

[00:09:09] A good horror episode with Lasseter wanted that apartment.

[00:09:15] Another one of how many, how many references can you pack into one episode?

[00:09:19] Because there were references that I definitely did not get the first time watching that one

[00:09:25] that I picked up on later on that were just, just amazing.

[00:09:29] Yep.

[00:09:33] And I don't, I don't think I've heard anybody mention it, but dual spa, um, dual spires.

[00:09:39] It was like the twin peak one.

[00:09:41] I mean, that was, that was really cool.

[00:09:45] I mean, Sherilyn was in that.

[00:09:48] Dana Ashbrook.

[00:09:49] Yeah.

[00:09:50] Ray Wise.

[00:09:51] Anytime Ray Wise would be in an episode.

[00:09:52] Imagine Amic was in it too, right?

[00:09:55] Yeah.

[00:09:55] Yeah.

[00:09:56] And, um, um, shoot, what is his name?

[00:10:01] Kyle MacLachlan was in one, wasn't he?

[00:10:03] He was the sheriff in dual spires.

[00:10:06] Oh, that's, um.

[00:10:08] Yeah.

[00:10:08] Shirley.

[00:10:09] Lenny Van Dolan.

[00:10:11] Yes, there you go.

[00:10:12] Yep.

[00:10:13] He was the sheriff.

[00:10:13] I knew I'd get there.

[00:10:14] I knew I would get there.

[00:10:15] Just.

[00:10:17] We'll return after these messages.

[00:10:23] Do you ever find yourself thinking about who would win in a fight between Goku and Superman?

[00:10:27] Hi, I'm James Gavsey.

[00:10:29] And on the who would win show, me and my co-host Ray ignore anything important happening in the outside world and debate fictional battles between characters from comics, movies, and video games.

[00:10:38] We got a new show every week.

[00:10:39] And almost always am I the winner.

[00:10:41] Yeah, not true, Ray.

[00:10:42] In the past, we've discussed such matches as Captain America versus Darth Vader, Solid Snake versus the Iron Giant, classic matchups like Robocop versus Terminator, and even the Muppets versus Sesame Street.

[00:10:55] That one was crazy.

[00:10:57] So if you're a fan of geek culture and love a spirited debate, check out the Who Would Win Show wherever you get your podcasts or check us out at who would win show dot com.
