[00:00:00] For the first time ever, bring home one of the greatest action adventure shows of all

[00:00:08] time.

[00:00:09] Don't tell me you know how to make a bomb out of a stick of chewing gum.

[00:00:15] Why, that's a...

[00:00:18] Maghiver is now available on DVD.

[00:00:23] What exactly do you do, Maghiver?

[00:00:27] He's the man who chooses wit over weapons, but leave this.

[00:00:32] Actually, I do much better without unstoppable, harmless, unconventional, unforgettable,

[00:00:41] unforgettable on DVD.

[00:00:43] I hope that thing works!

[00:00:47] You can come up now.

[00:00:48] What you're doing, Anderson, is Maghiver, begin your collection on DVD and look for more

[00:00:55] seasons coming soon.

[00:00:57] Maghiver, you did it!

[00:01:27] The Jacked Up Review Show Podcast, JackedUpReviewShow

[00:01:34] Hello all.

[00:01:48] I'm Cam Gadgetman.

[00:01:51] With me, I brought Sam, not Michael Jordan.

[00:01:55] Welcome.

[00:01:56] That hurts.

[00:01:57] You don't have to be.

[00:01:58] He's retired, you're not.

[00:01:59] I'm better at podcasting than actually.

[00:02:01] Tell me I'm wrong in that.

[00:02:03] Tell me I'm wrong, Cam.

[00:02:04] Why would I insult my guest?

[00:02:06] Why would I do it?

[00:02:08] 20 seconds in.

[00:02:09] And be a mistake.

[00:02:11] And Chef, not Ross.

[00:02:13] How are you?

[00:02:15] Who's Jeff Ross?

[00:02:16] A comedian.

[00:02:17] I'm just doing stupid intro to you guys and my improv skills are actually letting me down.

[00:02:25] That's a sand as that with each one of our instructions where he'll introduce me or if we have

[00:02:29] a guest with a nickname.

[00:02:32] But I write it out and Cam is clearly off the dome here.

[00:02:35] I'm improvising.

[00:02:36] Yep.

[00:02:37] So they are from the Making Fundament Guy Reponcast.

[00:02:42] You guys did this very recently and it's just interesting to hear just kind of a witty

[00:02:47] take on a.

[00:02:48] A deadly serious topic.

[00:02:51] Right.

[00:02:52] A show that I was the first ones to ever see anything funny in the guy.

[00:02:58] I don't know what the crew but forget about that.

[00:03:00] No, right.

[00:03:01] Oh dude, it's so funny.

[00:03:03] I had some other pals who were like screw my guy were my group is better.

[00:03:06] I'm just like it's yeah.

[00:03:08] And it's fun.

[00:03:09] You're in right?

[00:03:10] Like what are you in much like the 18, you know, it is a show that's taking itself serious yet.

[00:03:16] I'm not saying it ever gets to Walker Texas Ranger territory where it's pretending to be in on the joke.

[00:03:21] But it is one of those where you're just like kind of depending on who you are depends on how you take it.

[00:03:26] Like the science apparently is stuff that scientists were actually consulted on to make it confusing though most audiences kind of take it as a campy way.

[00:03:34] I pretty much him just like it's pretty much a kids friendly version of Indiana Jones but with James Bond gadgets.

[00:03:41] It's just.

[00:03:42] And where you guys into Richard Dean Anderson and some of his other shows subsequently after that or just any TV action adventure in general.

[00:03:53] We had different paths to this show.

[00:03:56] And Jeff probably has definitely has some stargate knowledge and I'm like 12 years older than Jeff.

[00:04:02] So I was kind of a little too old from a guyver in the first run in the 80s.

[00:04:06] Jeff was a little too young from a guyver so this is kind of like we're discovering it for the first time with new eyes, kind of but also.

[00:04:15] Oh gosh, I lost my train thought well, I wasn't that's I wasn't too young word I watched it on replace.

[00:04:20] Yeah, there you go.

[00:04:22] I watched tons of it when I was a kid not from then until now.

[00:04:26] Well, absolutely. You know, I would always see bits and pieces of it. I got the gist of it and I just found it interesting how.

[00:04:33] Again, you know, just.

[00:04:36] I would even see in movie reviews sometimes when a action or spy movie came out.

[00:04:41] People would use the guyver in a.

[00:04:44] As I praise or as a diss they're like this would have been better as a 40 minute episode of a guyver or all this is a guyver but amateur hours.

[00:04:53] I think it's a dictionary cam the word is in the dictionary so it is yeah, that was you know like I have an addiction to nostalgia like 70s and 80s stuff.

[00:05:03] And I so then the addiction ran so strong that I was willing to try the guyver on Netflix which I thought I never was going to care about the show but you know what all right there's one more 80 show I can get into I didn't love the pilot.

[00:05:15] Maybe the first episode to but there was a couple episodes in where I found a ludicrous and hysterical.

[00:05:21] And then I found it.

[00:05:23] A one two punch of charming and cool and everything is all at once.

[00:05:28] Yeah, so then I asked that moment will do things sometimes.

[00:05:33] So I worked with Jeff and Mike in radio news in Jacksonville Florida for about three plus years we were in the newsroom covering like.

[00:05:41] You know murders and taxes and you guys already had a rapport going oh yes yep that report was so strong that might quit the show last year but anyway.

[00:05:51] It was too much to handle that much pretty awesome this but yeah, not so famous he was getting his going to his head yeah.

[00:06:02] Awesome and yeah, well it's funny you mentioned weren't what was amazing about the pilot because apparently.

[00:06:09] It not her was the director of that episode so we went under the Ellen Smithy right in him.

[00:06:15] Yeah almost killed the whole thing but what you're talking about when we hit on this a lot when we talk about the show which is there is an earnestness to it that I think really makes it work.

[00:06:23] Is that it feels like they're trying to do the best with just what they have available.

[00:06:27] So it's come off a lot better than others some episodes are great because they're cheesy like some of my favorite episodes are really bad episodes.

[00:06:35] But like it never feels like they're not trying and so I think the combination of the sincerity with like the seriousness they take these goofy things very seriously very sincerely makes it like stand up more than something.

[00:06:48] It's just right out exciting though all together.

[00:06:51] Some episodes are very just they're just good I mean there's a lot of episodes that are that are just good episodes tell too so they do hit grants lambs isn't it also fun just seeing which actors like Donna Davis or Christopher judge later join the Stargate family.

[00:07:07] Oh my gosh I and I watched their subsequent series to what's the SG one universe yeah yeah oh yes Stargated Lannis.

[00:07:18] Anyway I keep advocating for him to do sliders as our next TV show.

[00:07:23] The short run special in sliders it's only like 40 episodes I mean it got killed by the last writers strike so we get sidetracked because I think he's talking about small hamburgers and then I've got no focus you should eat those two though I mean that's that both of these things are acting we do both yes sliders and sliders it's two two guys or three guys or more talking about that show while eating small hamburgers.

[00:07:46] Well sounds like a plan I like your style it's a great game plan well what's also wild is Christopher Neym my notice just was playing three different kinds of recurring characters you know he starts off as like a businessman as well as a serial killer and then he just comes back for like one of the two partners playing one of the other ruthless.

[00:08:08] So let me let me step in and tell you that Jeff might be the world's worst recognizer of actors so I you've already got I was going to dodge it yeah I know you know I'm I was gonna dodge it because I said he's right though I can't recognize anybody but much for a guy or several times we'll use the same actor for totally different role yeah like there's at the beginning season two or three two three.

[00:08:34] Something like that yeah there's a Russian spy named Lisa and she gets off to two part premier and she gets killed and she's back like two episodes later as Nick as my guy versus partner for the next season like you if all you need was any kind of memory to look at her and say wasn't she just a Russian spy who was killed in a helicopter three episodes later she's back as my guy versus partner the Phoenix foundation but you said Christopher Neym and I know that name now and Jeff is going to really know the character because that is one of his all

[00:09:04] time favorite characters and that is the man who played Murdoch I'm not sorry Murdoch yeah not a dude remember Doc who's our guy our guy from Quail that's Quail my heart he was quail for Halloween you want to talk about a deep cut two years ago yeah

[00:09:29] yeah I see it that's him just ruthless and yeah this actor he's done everything from Star Wars voiceovers to being one of the main bad guys and the James Bond film license to kill I just ruthless he's a stand at my staying out favorite character from season one which has a lot of very memorable stuff in it but we've done a few skits where I'll dawn this kind of costume and you know his accent and things like that so he's one of my favorites for sure so maybe this would be a good time to tell you one of the recurring

[00:09:59] things we keep track of on our show which I noticed very early on is how many times the people on the show same a guyver I think this was a trope of years past with TV shows and years past they keep saying the main characters name a lot and of course you know you don't find out his first name to the show is almost done right

[00:10:17] saying his name a ton of times and I would go back and bring the clips together and you know super cut and if you're okay with it I will share that with you and we can hear some Christopher Niamh are you okay with me sharing a clip here at a time boys

[00:10:33] this one's back a little bit give me a second is this from the episode this is from the episode yeah yeah this record was a clips by if you can if you can cut this part out came I got to find this and you shouldn't be too long though

[00:10:45] so for a period of time this was the most megalvers and he says quail a million times to go back and forth yeah I'm coming for you are all from the other off from the same episode making fun of megalver did indeed go back and count all the megalver and quail mentions and it's stunningly gloriously insane it's just amazing

[00:11:08] if I had assurances like this from you in the past fair particularly better concern my gaiver the guy is the only blemish on my records gentlemen we know that really story

[00:11:19] great let that never be a inspiration crap what he means great our sources of taste my guy for your own the world to see you again my guy

[00:11:31] this computer is fully programmed for us mr. MacGyver

[00:11:35] hello MacGyver don't worry about him a guy I use the name quail people aren't too happy with you are quail

[00:11:43] with great pleasure

[00:11:45] for gaiver

[00:11:46] magyver that's crazy so is quail

[00:11:49] a hit's magyver you always did like to talk didn't you quail always had to say how great your word in your quail

[00:11:57] certainly our talented quail appreciation is not wasted magyver

[00:12:01] well a new chess game with a new master magyver

[00:12:06] brilliant quail I'll stop it there buddy go

[00:12:09] I just at least show him how high it gets go to the very end how do you wait I think it goes to how many it was a 40 something well

[00:12:17] just did he close it I did close it and I'm about to say like 30 something times that comes to the mustard it's just like man you know is this

[00:12:26] I get that we had stuff on type riders and we couldn't always check our judges how word but man

[00:12:32] no we our theory is they did on purpose and we've talked to cast member like yeah we talked to

[00:12:38] leedy david slowdough who's the creator although he was even on for one episode and how was he

[00:12:46] I wasn't there for that one yeah it was just me and Mike back when I was he gave us an hour of his time

[00:12:50] sure he was he was he was fine he was very cool hour and it was time gracious and he's still got that enthusiasm but he still owns

[00:12:58] you know the magyver name and so he's writing books there was an unmagyver the musical

[00:13:03] that's another perfect quail later yeah this is a magyver the musical I don't think they toured this year

[00:13:07] but last year they performed in Houston we almost went so he's still you know capitalizing on the

[00:13:14] magyver name and we talked with him about the origin and he basically he has a sense of humor if he's

[00:13:20] doing a musical yes yes and he can see I think he still has an attachment to wanting the character

[00:13:26] be taking more serious than anything else because he jumped with us and he's like I was hoping

[00:13:30] you guys could you know I'm here to help you guys can change the name of your show you know he didn't say

[00:13:35] about taking the guy versus here's appears up there like that but now he's very cool very nice to talk

[00:13:39] over the call I mean give a lot of insight you have to know that people will make fun of your product

[00:13:42] I mean there's a dozen different law and order SPU podcasts and some of them are

[00:13:48] will make fun of it and some of them don't consider it trashy and do legit like an endramatic way

[00:13:52] I mean there's a lot of criminal minds podcast I stopped listening to because it just sound like

[00:13:56] everybody hated the show to where I'm like guys you're a nitpicking and killing my enjoyment

[00:13:59] up this serious mystery well and I think that's like we had a conversation about the name of the show

[00:14:05] whether people not would like get what we're going for and we definitely don't take the piss out

[00:14:10] of it out of like frustration or yeah you don't have any advice with it I mean

[00:14:15] no I hear an episode that I know might divide people I always have a warning saying you've been warned

[00:14:23] there might be a hot take here we extreter warning any attention is good attention but I'm just

[00:14:28] letting you know we weren't clear about this movie or show no one is forcing you to listen to this

[00:14:32] episode but I mean like someone's forcing you yeah and it's just like I mean that's what we're trying

[00:14:38] to we're trying to make fun of it we're trying to make fun like with it right and I was told

[00:14:44] in comedy like using this as a source not as like we're making fun of it when I was probably

[00:14:48] sometimes it is very bad when I was prepping with Sam off air I was telling him about some of my pals

[00:14:53] Jeff a Ken and company who have a bunch of different Star Trek podcasts but they also have a

[00:14:57] Babylon 5 for the first time and that's amusing and Babylon 5 fans are pretty cool but there are some

[00:15:04] who will be very jaded and not understand references to any kind of media I'm like yes much like

[00:15:11] Star Trek it's a cowboy western's face cop show but in space you know it's referencing this

[00:15:16] and that then they don't get it but they did have to say it's like yeah there's no way around it

[00:15:22] those graphics just did not age well or that story reveal was really irritating it could have been

[00:15:29] better or that one liner or attempt at humor could have just been omitted you know so

[00:15:34] there it's inevitable some of these 80s and 90s shows I think for the most part are just

[00:15:39] intriguing in that it kind of takes you back in time yeah and kind of sees the wave

[00:15:44] things are done today there's plenty yeah I personally still hat I mean I love heroes and icons TV

[00:15:50] because they are reruns of not only shows like this but also other fun ones like martial law and

[00:15:54] Nash bridges and I think everybody should just owes it to themselves to go back in time and see

[00:16:02] if you don't like the stuff of today you might as well see stuff from earlier periods and see if

[00:16:06] that fares with you any better because it storytelling it evolves and formatting and changes

[00:16:14] and even culture changes I mean that's why we do our show we we want to also give everybody an

[00:16:20] out just say hey there's no way around it this show is never going to be streaming you know

[00:16:27] well I'm a big believer in things can be very poorly made but very good and things can be

[00:16:32] very well made and not very good that's why I choose the B5 argument that show has PlayStation

[00:16:37] graphics and Roger Korman type actors and yeah dialogue and sets and puppet maps on type effects

[00:16:48] people don't love dr. Who because his old shows were like fantastic because they told interesting

[00:16:52] stories absolutely Kevin J Anderson the awesome author who's done a lot of ex files and Star Wars

[00:16:59] tie-in novels as well as worked on the newer dune books had a hysterical story shared on a

[00:17:04] recent podcast and he talked about how he tried to get his kids into the original Star Trek he was

[00:17:09] shown them the classic arena episode devastated right and the kids are like dad this is slow this

[00:17:18] is dumb and we the fans we remember all the stuff at the finale you know that sometimes

[00:17:28] you're we were blinded by our own nostalgia we we assume you know I've done that too with

[00:17:34] other shows before and the punchline or awesome stunt that I remembered was still barely last

[00:17:40] 10 minutes so you gotta just you gotta catch your losses also you know like and I think this

[00:17:50] McGuyre fans in general are just awesome in that they kind of they just want to scape

[00:17:54] them and I think this gave them an outlet for if they weren't as avid at watching movies or

[00:18:02] other stuff was like this is what you were gonna watch if you couldn't watch something like Rambo

[00:18:06] or Die Hard you know let me uh yeah pivot from there because that's actually why I didn't watch

[00:18:12] it as a team because I was more into sitcoms like cheerers family ties whatever I was there to go

[00:18:16] action I wasn't into action um tv series so that's what I thought McGuyre was going to be like

[00:18:22] the 18 where these are things like I didn't want a part of it so you gotta fast forward 35

[00:18:29] years later free me to find out it's a little better than that and it is a little more James Bond

[00:18:33] desk um but yeah but no you're right like the the fans generally have had again where our audience

[00:18:40] is probably 35 to 55 and at this point if you don't recognize the inherent cheesiness and silliness

[00:18:46] and fun make fun of ability of 80s tv you're not operating in a reasonable realm you know

[00:18:53] probably the same type to take walker Texas Ranger Dead Sirius and you're like dude scary

[00:18:58] are they dudes I have seen people who get so offended I'm like come on come on Brian even made a

[00:19:04] skid out of this come on how can you take any of this guy seriously a guy who doesn't do any paper

[00:19:10] work and goes around punching people in the face with or kicking off a plane

[00:19:16] well I think that's like I think one thing that makes it so like enjoyable like that is that

[00:19:23] it's like um it can be violent and scary but you never doubt that McGuyre is the good guy

[00:19:28] so when you booted up an episode of McGuyre you know for fact McGuyre is a good guy and he's

[00:19:35] gonna win and so like as far as an escapism like after that in the 90s and 2000s there's like

[00:19:41] cynical regretful heroes or complicated like men of depth and things like that but Guyre is never

[00:19:47] going to be deeper than what he is yeah exactly no vice versa it's like a I mean that's why he

[00:19:52] refused to continue like they wanted him originally this new McGuyre show to have him be where he

[00:19:58] was like he was the son of the previous and he was like now you guys were using gunplay

[00:20:03] and the whole point is that this guy's the underdog he doesn't have any guns or anything you know

[00:20:08] and however I will say you can if we want to talk about a moment where McGuyre definitely killed a

[00:20:13] guy uh definitely the second movie uh he flew over that spoiler alert is gonna come in because

[00:20:20] neither of us have seen it okay well long story short yeah he froze a wrench at someone

[00:20:24] and there's an explosion caused and I'm like yeah that person definitely died in there

[00:20:28] and then I might as well die in the last episode of that with back command directly killed but

[00:20:34] probably killed and Mike V. Jar who directed a bunch of Baywatch Walker Texas Ranger Star

[00:20:41] Track Battle on 5 and it brings it all around in 18 episodes also directed a ton of the guy

[00:20:46] references and he sounds like a nice guy a lot of those CBS guys are awesome because they

[00:20:53] all pretty much were working on soaps or doing editing and they pretty much

[00:20:58] knew how to have all this kinetic energy on a small scale but I think that's what I like about

[00:21:04] it too like uh just from season one alone when he's escaping from that one prison and causing an

[00:21:09] explosion when he's getting on that horse attached to that copter while dressed in as an Arab

[00:21:15] you know good memory rides a map down a sand hill i mean that some of those moments even made it

[00:21:20] into a 80s tv stunt making of documentary so some of the stunts are really terrific

[00:21:26] you just well can't look away and let's talk about i'm sorry go ahead no no no but i'm just

[00:21:32] we discovered very early on that many of the stunts from season one and two were stolen footage from

[00:21:38] old movies and tv shows well i want to doubt it right and that's a common practice but because

[00:21:44] of all the stunts and the low budget for our first year show it is there is a um uh what's the

[00:21:49] shathifa budapest there is a 15 minute long car chase in Romania which is incredible and it's all

[00:21:56] taken from the original the Italian job which is why it's incredible and and just mine was blown

[00:22:01] that this is all that none of these none of that is Richard Dean Anderson in that car you get one

[00:22:05] shot of a green screen and then it's just car shots from a movie that you know it's like seriously

[00:22:10] 10 stolen minutes yeah one of those rhodter corpsman and Jim Wernorski they were doing a lot of that

[00:22:15] sampling but to their credit though it is well incorporated to where it doesn't take you out of it

[00:22:21] it's not because like i'm okay if people like still footage from like a canon films or goofy 80s movie

[00:22:28] just don't still footage from something that's you know unmistakable like you're not going to take

[00:22:32] a chase scene out of madmax or terminator two it's just no everybody's gonna recognize that right

[00:22:40] yeah taking obscure or just little stuff or i mean i'm okay like jag you should see early jag

[00:22:46] is hysterical because however they remaster it the slow motion just doesn't hold up

[00:22:51] but i actually don't mind it when they reuse a shot like a manable carrier from top gun or a crimson

[00:22:57] type submarine and somebody needs an establishing shot just let him use five seconds and

[00:23:02] but it's from krypton time so it was easier to fool audiences in the 80s small tv is not high depth so

[00:23:07] yeah you can get away with that when we watch it in high depth either on blue right or it's on

[00:23:13] it's and by the way all these episodes are on high death now and you there's a noticeable upgrade

[00:23:16] so this was shot on on film and it's on paramount plus and of it's also available on blue ray

[00:23:22] so the episode is actually look pretty good but when you see an episode like my perhaps my favorite

[00:23:28] the best worse is a trombos world and um world world world world so that's i think it's episode six

[00:23:34] of season one yes and he's taking on a horde of angriest so when they cut away to the ant

[00:23:42] though it's footage from a movie from like the fifties and it's it is nowhere near the same film

[00:23:49] grain or quality it's just it's hysterical that's a good intro though because like i do love

[00:23:54] when he gets some of the other recurring characters who are like activists or guerrilla fighters

[00:23:59] and he's having them get away from a village because once like a team i like that whole use of just

[00:24:07] again just what you know a seven samurai concept whatever you do you gotta get out of here and

[00:24:13] you gotta get on that plane well watching the first season like it's very weird and up and down

[00:24:19] and you watch them like form the character so like they try him in different situations like there's

[00:24:23] one where he's almost in a Rambo S thing and it shirts off and he's running through the forest

[00:24:27] and stuff it doesn't work at all yeah it doesn't it's it's terrible and then they like set

[00:24:33] it into the almost like your friendly uncle kind of thing he's also he's also bagging a lot of babes

[00:24:40] in episode one through eight he's kissing everybody by the time season two comes around that is done

[00:24:46] he he almost said that yeah you cannot get him to touch a woman after season two

[00:24:50] oh well i love how he's gross remember when he brings in that one gal who's

[00:24:56] uh helping him get out of that dictators country in central america she's a journalist uh

[00:25:02] robin kuras uh savage from the star track movie they asked the gauntlet episode yeah and they share

[00:25:08] a lizard meal before they have sex and that's the i think oh it's that episode yeah i think

[00:25:12] that might be the only confirmed time like it's implied migayra just had sex

[00:25:17] well that's why i'm sure you know it's just 80s were that time man where you could you could

[00:25:22] you could infer that yes he definitely had sex with that assassin in season three

[00:25:28] these assassin wrote on her computer her three options to forgetting rid of maghiver were two

[00:25:31] love him off to knock him off scare him off and man or love him off it's gonna happen it happened

[00:25:39] there was full 80s sacks music for everything uh love the sex so i was like i'm angry

[00:25:43] the guy for definitely kills people and i talk about it in my segments uh which are

[00:25:47] desert migayras which i know i disagree with much like i'm an air by team i tried on a recent

[00:25:54] revanche of seeing if they killed anybody and no such like but maghiver is on a staple there

[00:26:00] there's just so many gray areas where no one gets up after an explosion yeah yeah and so i uh

[00:26:08] we do the desert migayra which is where i and i'm air heavy quotes here uh bust or check whether

[00:26:14] or not what happens as possible scientifically and so when he does his little gadgets in the show

[00:26:20] i'll break down whether or not it would have worked and whether you would have saved him or killed him

[00:26:24] or something like that or or if it doesn't work why it would or if it does work why it wouldn't

[00:26:28] or you know if it doesn't why it wouldn't you know i'm trying to say absolutely but like you say

[00:26:33] it's not me nature it's not a cinema cinz where it's a nitpig disguised as a joke is like no this is

[00:26:39] also i wouldn't go checking my own checking of these things well the fun of it for anything

[00:26:47] uh for me when i i take pride and joy when i see an unconvincing makeup job or bizarre wardrobe

[00:26:55] or a stunt double that isn't able to hide their face or a car that keeps getting damaged but looks

[00:27:01] fine in the next shot that's just part of the fun of filmmaking stuff that you wouldn't notice

[00:27:07] maybe uncertain screens small screen versus a big screen but sometimes it's just unavoidable now

[00:27:13] and we're not again i'm not doing it to you know throw someone off a cliff i just legit i'm just

[00:27:20] i'm just having fun as a cinema file you know i just we wouldn't do this if we didn't like actually

[00:27:25] watching the episodes all that too you you guys do take pride in this and it's not to just

[00:27:30] throw someone under the bus and pick up on the little guy who made a living doing this not at all

[00:27:36] uh i can't uh so we talk about jeff we call him the scientist on the show i'm the skeptic because

[00:27:42] i came in thinking the jokes would be the main thing and mike uh did about 50 episodes before he left

[00:27:47] and he was the diehard because we thought he would be the most earnest uh lover of the show but uh

[00:27:52] we keep the stats on how many of his miggyverisms actually would work do care to offer a guess

[00:27:57] season three is the one we just wrapped up um so what percentage of miggyverisms do you usually

[00:28:02] perceive to be the best season jeff jeff deemed how many of those miggyverisms first well how many

[00:28:08] do you think he did in uh to a 20 episode season we'll return after these messages

[00:29:32] solid stake versus the iron giant classic matchups like Robocop vs Terminator and even the Muppets

[00:29:38] vs Sesame Street that one was crazy so if you're a fan of geek culture and love a spirited debate

[00:29:45] check out the who would win show wherever you get your podcast or check us out at who'd win show

[00:29:49] dot com all the tropes okay so setting the dynamite that would be one getting on a copter

[00:29:57] two time might take a while but free would be have uh

[00:30:04] Bruce McGill's character uh it's uh jack dot Dalton uh Dalton having him trapped on a plane

[00:30:14] a few different times or a terrorist takeover would probably be uh about uh five of those each

[00:30:22] you know there's always some master thief or something and then a vehicle escape is probably

[00:30:28] gonna be the number one so what do you think maybe three in episode something like that i

[00:30:34] two at the minimum three at the most definitely you're about right so um the guyver was

[00:30:40] there were 52 McGiverisms attempted and Jeff deemed 38 of them would work for a percentage of

[00:30:46] 73% success rate in season three sweet uh how many of them do you think would work in real life

[00:30:54] even though the size is minimum number minimal number the other thing is it's all persistent on the

[00:31:01] villains being good aims it's like yeah those guys with 3847s would have blown up the bridge

[00:31:06] or McGiver getting succeeding through some ridiculous series of like one time he is in like a

[00:31:11] woodworking shop and he has to take down these batteys and he builds like a machine gun out of a

[00:31:16] table saw so like he does that work i mean like sure you're gonna be flinging pieces of wood maybe if

[00:31:25] you hit somebody with just enough force in the right place it would mostly support us

[00:31:30] my version of work isn't just like will it do the thing he wants but it's will it get them out

[00:31:34] the situation that they're in oh man yeah well what season is it where he's in though

[00:31:40] he's helping the guys who've been set up for murder and he's helping them escape a prison

[00:31:45] some crooked deputies and that might be yeah well that's oh that was just this last uh season and we

[00:31:50] loved that episode that was so much fun just when they get into the tunnel and he's like lights out

[00:31:56] oh we had high oh that that that had pepe in it Joe oh yeah that was the pepe yeah oh yeah yeah

[00:32:01] that was there's missing millions in a mountain it turns out there was the last season was it last

[00:32:06] season was it this season it was this season well we have much of pepe jokes and I hope it was

[00:32:11] this season or else we had those jokes for no reason um look i can't remember the name of it

[00:32:17] uh both liked it yeah who are your favorite uh supporting characters

[00:32:23] well i mean i think everyone's answer would have been jack Dalton until the season and they over did him

[00:32:28] uh yeah i liked Dalton but i don't like how he's introduced at first this is my personal preference

[00:32:33] that he kind of comes in and you're like the heck's this guy so i'm an unabashed pepe mega stan

[00:32:39] i i love the dad vibes like you know he's like total dead joke yeah oh but like if you had a bad day

[00:32:47] in high school you know you could talk to him and he wasn't he's not gonna like tear you down

[00:32:51] or like he would give you big hug when you need it like he's always gonna be there he's reliable

[00:32:56] he is never mad at mac or jack he what kind of a jack but like he's never mad at you

[00:33:00] but like he'll help you fix things and stuff uh and i love like Dana elkar is just

[00:33:06] like presence in the work really well as uh pivot thwarting the supervisor he's probably my favorite

[00:33:11] uh same thing with uh terry hatchers uh penny uh just she she they grow her up later on but when

[00:33:17] they first introduce her they're kind of having her be a silly valet roll yeah the voice is annoying

[00:33:23] well we talk about and season three has nicky in it right so there's she's like this female

[00:33:28] maghiver and they go through five or six episodes and they kind of try her in different ways

[00:33:32] than nothing sticks so they just get rid of her but there's a version of that show where they could

[00:33:36] work because they are not bad together on screen they just didn't know what to do with this

[00:33:40] like female maghiver like they dated and then she was shrill and then she was competent

[00:33:45] and it was weird what your name was probably too busy snowboarding and the writers were like we

[00:33:50] don't know what to do all right i love some peat too and uh i've got a clip this was just a promo for

[00:33:55] an episode we did last year but you a lot of times we take a little hanging fruit on the guyver

[00:34:00] we take you know the silly stunts and the maghiverisms that are funny and then sometimes we go find

[00:34:06] our own comedy and this promo would be an example of that starring uh the one and only uh peat

[00:34:13] making fun of the guy there yeah there you go peat lunge and jurel on ice

[00:34:20] uh what's the matter that's fine nothing nothing it's fine

[00:34:28] sister jinger rail is really best over shaved ice not cubes these are cubes

[00:34:36] will the guyver shave peat's cubes mac has been in a lot of sticky situations before

[00:34:42] but has he ever shaved anyone the epic music and if he does shave peat's cubes which of the

[00:34:49] 17 jewels on his Swiss army knife will he use and has a peat a little old to still be shaving his cubes

[00:34:57] get the answers to these chilling questions on the heart pounding episode out in the cold

[00:35:02] next time on making fun of maghiver

[00:35:07] yeah that's the kind of silly that's a recommendable episode if you found that out in the cold

[00:35:12] episode is worth watching maghiver uh survives a avalanche by doing things that would actually help

[00:35:17] you survive an avalanche and then peat gets him out and immediately falls and breaks a leg like

[00:35:22] just tips over yeah like his this old man body just like flops and like look the bird ankles just

[00:35:27] snap and then later in the episode he breaks the other one so he's just like standing there

[00:35:33] in all of a sudden like I guess is an anything like getting bonked on the head and losing your memory

[00:35:36] yeah it's randomly breaking leg those later on the sudden you can tell like he wants to be on

[00:35:41] a snowboard as much as he can or do an excuse to start skiing from an explosion but yes thank you

[00:35:48] for bringing it yeah the hockey in those later seasons just like I had it I just walking through

[00:35:53] a different show as the split 21 jumps we just you nailed it because you might think it's a later

[00:35:58] season but we just had in season three and by the way Jack in the box is the episode we were talking

[00:36:03] about where they have this game from the crew Jack in the box yet that was really good but uh

[00:36:08] sorry we just saw an episode where um that there is no danger it's the first time a guy

[00:36:13] has no danger there is just a lesson to be taught to a over eager father and his son who wants

[00:36:20] to play hockey and uh yeah it's just that it's an after school special and we and we both kind of

[00:36:25] Jeff liked it more than me but it was like a surprise that there was no bodily harm it threatened

[00:36:30] at all to anyone there were some subtle ones there's just some laid back ones and but then he kind

[00:36:36] of after while it kind of gets back into 18 mode where he'll be saving a blue collar worker from

[00:36:42] um evil factory owner or a kid who's on the run from the mob or just something like that and so

[00:36:48] that's where it's really gets intense where he's just like it kind of goes back into the old cereal

[00:36:53] where they cut the black do do do you know well I'm a guy called sorry anti cop which I like um yeah show him

[00:37:00] the spreadsheet you should see this we keep a lot of detail yeah to show him that the yeah he

[00:37:06] well because I think he's a spy also and he just knows that he was kind of detecting systematic problems

[00:37:12] before we were doing it which is still a lot about anybody I talk about that so we I mean like

[00:37:18] we don't talk about politics like as in who's running for election stuff like that but

[00:37:21] yeah I just stuff like that just politics in the show or right wing politics you know right and

[00:37:27] I mean even when his with Richard Dean's anti gun stance he was still he was just trying to just

[00:37:33] put up just the whole you know be the bigger man you know if you're a real man you do not need a

[00:37:40] gun you do it to be a hero you know well actually if you want to see where we line up politically

[00:37:47] Jeff you forget one of our first episodes like episodes 15 or something October of 2020 we did

[00:37:52] yeah we didn't like it so called how would McGiver vote before we did it we came forth and both

[00:37:59] said where all three of us were politically um and I'll do it now what the hell uh so yeah I mean

[00:38:05] me and Jeff both to left Mike actually sent a right voted for Trump in 16 voted for Biden in 20

[00:38:10] so he's one of those rare like you know I could go either way kind of guys like is the

[00:38:14] everiest man to he's the most Pennsylvania man to ever Pennsylvania yeah he's a smart guy I get it

[00:38:19] I think he's more of a jack power type where he respects whoever's in office but he

[00:38:24] oh no we're talking about the guy who was our co-host I'm talking about the guy who is our co-host

[00:38:28] oh well right right yeah okay well but yes I'm just saying that the character I think is kind of like

[00:38:35] jack power swing yeah also um you might not because I think we did 10 issues like 10 big important

[00:38:42] issues terrorism gun control abortion taxes and I think we came like he would be five to the left

[00:38:48] five to the right or something like that which probably isn't a coincidence with the writers

[00:38:52] not wanting to alienate one side but the gun thing these days no conservative would allow yeah

[00:38:57] it would not this show would have a target on his back with anyone that was openly not using guns

[00:39:02] like McGiver will throw a gun at you before he takes down absolutely he'll throw the ammo clip

[00:39:08] he'll yeah he'll fire it off to scare you and he'll call you bad names before he'll shoot you

[00:39:13] even if you're about to absolutely he'll make you he'll load it but he's not gonna shoot it and I think

[00:39:18] it might much like the a team like he's gonna shoot the explosive behind you that sets it off and

[00:39:23] distracts you and then inevitably he'll get caught so then the whole argument is lost you don't have

[00:39:31] to worry about oh he's dumb he should have just shot the guy regardless of his ethics he's just

[00:39:36] all like hey I don't need a rap sheet you know he would succeed at playing a game of grand theft

[00:39:43] auto without having his leader go up I don't know if that would be his game but uh all right you know

[00:39:49] it's got to do a lot of cheat codes and hacking but I'm just yeah it's got the the fingerprints of

[00:39:56] you know being a kid in the 70s I of course had a major thing for the fans right so exactly

[00:40:02] producer of this show Henry Winkler that's another feel good thing for me with this show absolutely

[00:40:06] anybody else would come off as sexes or maybe perverted but the fans is kind of like hey

[00:40:14] I'm in love with you know he's an Elvis kind who just everybody wants to be like and

[00:40:18] that is true it just it made sense why he produced so many other comedic shows and why McIver had

[00:40:24] comedy in it but I mean in many ways I mean Richard Anderson I feel is very much a small screen

[00:40:31] Harrison Ford in that yes he he's cool with drugs but he's not gonna be seen smoking a joint

[00:40:37] but he's just like everyone leave each other alone and like you say just he doesn't bring up any

[00:40:42] hot topics that would divide either side of the political spectrum so this is a lovely spreadsheet

[00:40:48] you got here yeah so it's uh the episode the day to day we air I'm in press everyone's rank name

[00:40:56] uh I keep trying to scroll it I can forget it's how many times I've had to watch the episode

[00:41:02] well now that I do the recaps I watch them twice but before I would only watch them the one time

[00:41:07] uh I want to rewatch the hockey episode now that you

[00:41:10] that one is uh thin ice man professional hockey

[00:41:14] I don't know hockey it was fun that's right here season three episode 13 thin ice

[00:41:19] I gave it a six Jeff gave it a seven out of ten and there were no McIverisms there zero for zero

[00:41:24] because of the other than being nice to everybody yeah zero zero number one movie yeah we also

[00:41:32] go back in time commercial that week for whatever that episode aired we look at the number one

[00:41:37] movie we talk about it and then each of us takes a song uh turn singing the number one song

[00:41:42] from that week and it's horrendous and it's funny as you would think it might be yeah I did see

[00:41:47] you do some of that on the episodes I saw and I was just it I applaud anyone who can do that

[00:41:51] because you know especially with billboard now you have to use the way back machine if you want

[00:41:57] to see other statistics then what was the number one movie or political topic or talk show and

[00:42:06] that day on that year respectively it's a lot of homework but maybe our best maybe our best

[00:42:15] thing if you want to talk about uh musical was the the the rap song I put together if I could share

[00:42:21] that I like that sure this is the one with the most views no is not the most views I mean the most

[00:42:27] views is us putting lyrics to the McIver theme song yeah we had one video that like got 60,000 views

[00:42:34] or something like that but most of our stuff gets couple hundred if we're lucky that's good yeah

[00:42:38] Richard Dean Anderson at the Comic Con in in Pittsburgh an April shot up to like 120,000 views

[00:42:44] and the next closest is like 60,000 views and it's just a silly thing of us seeing uh putting lyrics

[00:42:50] to the McIver theme song you make the call Cam do you want would you like to hear the lyrics

[00:42:55] I'm so really okay let me find out or Sam put a lot of work into this rap this is your time

[00:43:00] I could possibly give you a taste of each let me let me get 45 seconds this wasn't in the show

[00:43:06] there should have been more rap music in McIver he likes to write the songs and stuff um so a lot

[00:43:11] of these like we'll do spoof songs I love spoof songs I'm a bad word out like that yeah so that's

[00:43:17] what I was saying before which is our show like we consider it like a package where it's you know

[00:43:22] it's like a podcast but it's also we're trying to deliver like a radio show it's a triple cheeseburger

[00:43:27] yeah yeah it should be something that like yeah it's like it I don't know do you have

[00:43:31] this like old school like a public radio stuff like that radio drama dude all I listen to is satellite

[00:43:37] and college radio man I yeah I love hearing some way back nostalgia and some cool people recording

[00:43:43] reporting local news mixed in with the stay in history and 77 we had this so we tried to

[00:43:49] deliver something that's like directed and produced and it's a show yeah this is all right yeah

[00:43:55] that's cool so yeah all right so here we go finally we have lyrics to the McGibert theme song that's

[00:44:00] the name of the youtube video if you want to go check it out uh and subscribe to our youtube

[00:44:04] youtube channel we would love it but here you go if there's someone in danger maybe a friend

[00:44:08] a stranger if there's an evil madman hatching a really bad plan if there's a moral preaching that

[00:44:14] needs some teaching if there's a girl who's missing she probably needs some kissing and that's when

[00:44:21] you call that's when you call you call on that that that guy verb McGibert don't ask me his first name

[00:44:31] I'm not really sure you call on that guy verb McGibert you give him no weapons and he says yes sir

[00:44:40] cuz he can make everything out of most anything there's nothing he can't do paper comes pocket

[00:44:49] knife I trust him with my life guaranteed the mold it will not let you down you call on that

[00:44:54] that guy verb McGibert don't ask me his first name I'm not really sure you call on that guy

[00:45:01] verb McGibert you give him no weapons and he says yes sir I think he's allergic to go

[00:45:11] oh

[00:45:17] do do do do do do do do do do do perfectly aligned with that st. Luke score

[00:45:21] 6,9000 views for this cheesy dumb little parody the people one more and then I put all this hard work

[00:45:30] into a spoof song if I could just give you a little bit of this and this has 556 views and listen

[00:45:36] I mean I'm proud of this but not proud of the guy verb I love to meet that's one of the reasons

[00:45:40] why I wanted to go I was so ready for them to talk about the musical here and I say that I had a

[00:45:44] sorry wait wait wait you were ready I was ready no way you know I was ready no you guys I'm telling you

[00:45:51] I had a song picked out on everything there you go I had a song go on here here it goes

[00:45:56] I am not firing a single shot I am not firing a single shot I'm not serving my country but I'll

[00:46:08] only do it country I am not firing a single shot I'm a man of morals and much duct tape now I

[00:46:14] probably shouldn't brag but all I need to escape any problem is my brains and my science knowledge

[00:46:19] what's made a robot from a donut loose wires into some shoe pops I'm a mullet rock and dude

[00:46:24] that's really awesome trying to break the ball my powers you'll see as they unfold I'm only 35 but

[00:46:29] my mind is stronger these worldwide conflicts grow longer they'll haunt you every bad guy though no

[00:46:34] no I've learned you can't fight don't even know the gun to bang right so I hang tight and dodge the

[00:46:39] bullets like I dodge the fame but damn this song is getting long so let me tell you my name I am the

[00:46:44] M.A CG YV ER a TV you see I was the star whether I'm giving Pete some flat clack what's

[00:46:50] teaming up with Jack Jack I'll find a way to save the day in 60 minutes flat I'm known for my

[00:46:55] skills with my trusty pocket knife and the stick your gum beats your trigger thumb oh yes that's

[00:46:59] right and the black cell this one guy who gives me hell I can't even open a word doc without she

[00:47:04] in Murdoch oh yep that's him I'm not fine rhymes with Murdoch so now what is your fan we get

[00:47:11] samson news here now I know I need a 10 to 10 to play a crap battle firing a single shot I am not firing a

[00:47:19] single if my guy record rap is the video and it has five five hundred fifty six views I mean that's

[00:47:24] just I don't know that's wonderful man here and keep it up keep find your creativity in this fun

[00:47:32] to put together and it made yeah some people laugh and some people people our fans really like what we do

[00:47:38] you know we probably only have I don't know maybe if I see you get a lot of like a Facebook

[00:47:43] people really liking how you but it could be better it could be better but the people that yeah

[00:47:49] that's what anything podcast do everything at the end of the year I always ask myself what could be

[00:47:54] better yeah well and here's what I'm always telling saying and as every year of use and listens get

[00:47:59] better so even though we might get three or four hundred listens an episode last season we would

[00:48:03] get like 200 and this season you're gonna get 100 you're gonna get reactions to the stuff you did

[00:48:07] five years ago yeah and so but we're not I mean I mean it sounds better later than never

[00:48:13] yeah we're not doing it for the listens because we're probably never gonna get them um but we're

[00:48:18] doing it because it's fun and uh it's like it's like a hobby it's not stuff you can buy and if

[00:48:23] it becomes a hobby then it's just like this where you need to be yeah I think our numbers are going

[00:48:32] to explode we only record every two weeks so like we record every two weeks and release an episode

[00:48:37] every two weeks I will pimp the shit out of this episode but I I just applaud this anyone who can do

[00:48:43] humor and that is more than I can do in a lifetime I applaud anyone if you can do a rhyming rap

[00:48:49] that's based on some kind of pop culture icon and then mix it with all the background music and all

[00:48:57] that well and much like the show my guy ever you can pick up any one of our episodes and just drop

[00:49:02] into it uh it's because it's not current events related or anything like that it's gonna be just

[00:49:05] about the episode if you want to watch our show or watch it and come listen to us or just listen

[00:49:09] to us because we'll tell you what it's about you know you get your stagia 80s and 90s and the stagia

[00:49:14] 70s 80s 90s and the stagia you get comedy in spades you get science when Jeff researchers with

[00:49:20] a guy rhythm he gets very serious and takes and you know and uh and you get all that you get all

[00:49:26] body counts kind of semi oh we don't know body count but I will say if this that's my joke it's

[00:49:33] it's a real time yeah yeah yeah yeah maybe to see a stat yeah uh if there's any body count there

[00:49:40] was definitely some people who died in the Chinatown episode oh that's uh later later season right

[00:49:45] we have a guy that yeah no it's season two Chinatown season two does it remember an episode where he

[00:49:52] like the Jade dragon yeah yeah oh that was the title I thought he met that was the title of the

[00:49:58] episode okay no yes right right yeah wish the wish child a friend saved his brother and the

[00:50:05] same artist and well yeah the old guy guys on the yeah James long and then George decay you know

[00:50:13] from Star Trek is lone behold it's a Japanese guy playing a Chinese die I think he dies over the

[00:50:19] railing uh walking off the ship at the end kind of yeah he he he succumbs to his injuries and

[00:50:25] then it's suicide but then he's back as another guy no that's a different that's James

[00:50:30] song yeah to guys succumbs to his wounds and tells him something important before he dies but

[00:50:36] as you do when I'm a show like this but yeah to your career and then oh fuckle Paul

[00:50:40] all we just had that episode that's the last episode of season three well she was on two she was in

[00:50:44] the wish child and then she came back she was oh yeah yeah yep there you go there's another example

[00:50:50] I was saying they just bring same actors to the actress back uh Sam found a casting director

[00:50:55] someone named Fiona Jackson and has a beef with her for only having so many names that are rolled X

[00:51:02] yeah we'd love to interview Fiona Jackson the casting director for these episodes and

[00:51:06] just why do they still say Fiona yeah murderer sky if you want to see we deemed to your

[00:51:10] career at the end of season three episode 20 murderer sky we deemed that the sexiest moment

[00:51:16] of the guyver for through the first three seasons so she strips down out of a evident wetsuit in

[00:51:21] the dark of night she's perfectly lit and we did not complain about her coming back for you know

[00:51:26] double casting on that one we were fine yeah she's she's actually on both this in the 18 episode

[00:51:35] do you feel like this is in the same universe as the 18 I can bring it up never thought about it

[00:51:40] I mean this is the same logic just don't offend anybody and then just here it was a work on

[00:51:46] the way I've heard is in a parallel universe of its own because they don't even name the town

[00:51:50] that they're in there they're just in a city X files twin pigs uh yeah they're all just like each

[00:51:57] is floating in a bubble it's always this recent flash where they all crashed together

[00:52:01] it's like kind of like how Star Wars is in a different galaxy with absurd science while Star Trek

[00:52:07] in the expanse are more realistic universe the 18 was NBC back in the day and yeah I just

[00:52:13] learned the guy was ABC so I don't know if we could cross breathe the networks like that I know

[00:52:18] I'm just I just mean just figured totally just because of the whole same kind of presence it's just

[00:52:23] like have someone intense for the adults while now wait a second with all this um

[00:52:30] McGuy uh a team talk you would have happened to left a comment on one of our recent Spotify

[00:52:37] episodes did you know okay go on Spotify okay we had someone leave a comment and say can you

[00:52:44] guys review some 18 episodes and they gave us an exact episode they wanted us to start oh my god

[00:52:49] and um so wait but we didn't do that but we reviewed the 10 second NBC coach

[00:52:54] the promo trailer if you ever need anybody I'm here okay okay I actually took a lot of notes on

[00:53:00] some of the famous guest stars on some of the 18 pass pass if we do another one it's gonna have

[00:53:05] to be from the 90s or 2000s okay even better uh I'm down with that because 90s you're gonna

[00:53:13] at least have a better production quality and and we've talked about because the show ends at like

[00:53:18] 144 episodes we got a long way to go but like what we're gonna do afterwards like if we're just

[00:53:22] gonna morph it as something else if we're just gonna keep it going as general interest and

[00:53:26] I guess we'll see when we get done with that season yeah someone heard us like code oh god

[00:53:36] and we like we take breaks from zero summer I don't know actually our last episode is the running

[00:53:41] man waiting the break in the summer we take breaks from a guy because for sanity so we just reviewed

[00:53:44] the running man Jeff maybe watch that and then we're actually we're writing an original radio drama

[00:53:50] for McGuy find the original story that we're gonna act out that's gonna be our next episode and

[00:53:54] if we're finding that it's perhaps too ambitious a project but that's our next next episode amazing

[00:53:59] we reviewed fast times of Ridge Mahay and the warriors was a great episode we reviewed the warriors

[00:54:04] last year and my pick for next month will be the original uh exorcist so that's that'll be good

[00:54:10] I'm ready for spooky season yep and then we'll be back on for season four in October right

[00:54:17] yeah really October and we would love you to listen cam and all your listeners so we

[00:54:22] I have wasn't uh we're so friendly we never reach out to us like we're bend over backwards

[00:54:27] friendly to anyone that chimes in and we're not and you can you can pay us money and come on

[00:54:33] oh yes patreon.com.com slash making fun of McGuyver we have three tiers five ten to fifteen

[00:54:39] dollars at the fifteen dollar tier which you can just do one time if you want we will bring you on

[00:54:43] as a co-host and let you talk about the episode of you are choosing from that season so

[00:54:48] and we yet to have a bad guest no yeah it's always like a craft shoot like you bring a guest on

[00:54:53] because we were running like a show you know and so you got to like talk to them about how

[00:54:56] we do our production and stuff like that and you never know if the person is gonna cooperate

[00:55:00] can we have a 22 year old woman from Taiwan from taiwan reach out to us become a patron

[00:55:07] and we co we did an episode with her she loves McGuyver she said and inspired her as a kid

[00:55:12] she was bullied as a kid she would come home watch the episodes and it inspired her

[00:55:17] and she's been a fan of ours and we've interacted with her multiple times we've had people from

[00:55:20] Australia um Norway McGuyver is big around the world and a big chunk of our listeners are international

[00:55:28] that that's insane dude that

[00:55:33] that puts a lot of it in perspective now yeah yeah it's that part really makes it worth it

[00:55:38] if you mean something camping to just escape reality do it man you know if that inspires your soul

[00:55:45] that that's awesome and so i kind of had some experience kind of like that with uh

[00:55:54] apparently that spy slash fugitive on the run show the pretender which was a big 90s

[00:56:01] tv show back in the day uh definitely people who were watching other

[00:56:06] procedurals and equalizer and definitely even ex files were probably watching it but

[00:56:13] it even crossed over with another show that had nothing to do with uh called profiler but

[00:56:18] um it's very big in Italy i could syndicate it there so i got to talk with people

[00:56:25] around the country and i was like i had not the foggy as that that's nutty yeah america's maybe

[00:56:35] greatest export is its entertainment it's movies and it's television right more american than

[00:56:40] america so i'll stop or i'll just everyone uh which episodes will you not watch again

[00:56:47] i don't want to try to be positive but like just were there any of that you're just like yeah

[00:56:50] that got a little did see that got a little silly uh anything with penny parker in it um some

[00:56:56] of those airport episodes were kind of bad yeah i just didn't feel like there was enough tension

[00:57:01] either where is like there was one episode where uh migai was literally like knocked out for like

[00:57:07] half the episode and i'm like oh yeah it's like an emich episode yeah but like this one he was knocked

[00:57:13] out way more than often and so whoever cut the episode together it just there wasn't enough suspense

[00:57:20] so it kind of got a little repetitive because he got like knocked out like every so like that's

[00:57:25] those are the worst those are the worst episodes yeah and we the ones that go on the middle one either

[00:57:30] they're they're good when they're really good or they're really bad um the ones in the middle

[00:57:34] will be like i don't feel like watching this again yeah there's some reason to watch something that's

[00:57:38] ridiculous or something that's awesome well you convinced me to rewatch the hockey episode because

[00:57:42] that one was definitely confusing at first okay yeah well again and i like hockey i i like playing it

[00:57:49] but it was one of those i'm like yeah this feels like an ABC actress school's festival yeah

[00:57:54] there was some other ones involving vehicles that were awesome but there are probably some

[00:57:59] season one episodes i might switch around or like take two subplots of five different ones and

[00:58:06] edit them all together it'd be way more entertaining but overall i got a plot all these shows for just

[00:58:14] cutting the mustard and just being pretty electric pretty pretty fast fast pace

[00:58:22] i mean it's our childhood it's our teen years and still to this day it holds up for comfort food

[00:58:29] it's it's mac and cheese television it's not fine dining but we find it does something and and

[00:58:35] coming together talk about it laugh about it is the chef's kiss you know that's the dessert so um

[00:58:40] we really uh oh one more thing lead David's load-up in his team made us official McGiver ambassadors

[00:58:47] if you go to McGiver.com yeah are you an insider camp what's up oh what what camp are you an

[00:58:55] ambassador of any kind i uh maybe on tv now see we're official we are a

[00:59:04] yeah so we're ambassadors you got we are like have immunity here so you need to respect our

[00:59:10] authority as ambassadors i promise i'm you have the final say before i know to the i'm going

[00:59:15] to stop paying the meter i'm gonna stop feeding parking meters parking on the wrong side street

[00:59:20] and that shows they have a sense of humor and i'm sure lead david's load-up the creator uh okayed

[00:59:25] that moved by his social media person who we have a good relationship with but uh yeah the

[00:59:31] guyver touches money in that dude's pocket of course he loves it yeah yeah yeah so yeah i think

[00:59:37] that's that's it that's making fun of a guyver that's that's what we do and we really you know

[00:59:42] what you're our first interview so we i really appreciate you uh having us on this has been great

[00:59:46] absolutely man i i see i mean i saw that it was the phoenix foundation which covers every episode but

[00:59:52] i didn't hear back from them but i i just applaud any podcast that has again zany humor mixed in with

[00:59:59] just topical stuff and then you get back to the show you that because there's just too many

[01:00:05] other tv recap shows that again take the shows too seriously or just want to gock at how sexy

[01:00:10] actors are and it's like that's not a good recap we want to have next we'll kind of conversation like

[01:00:16] what do you mind you uh i know you're wrapping us up and it's good uh but as phoenix foundation people

[01:00:21] they've moved on to do uh every single movie from the 80s yeah zented yeah we're friends with those guys

[01:00:29] awesome no i don't get me wrong i just don't hear wrong oh you do know oh okay yeah they're busy

[01:00:34] they're doing like four of these a week yeah they're taking off they're doing great stuff but

[01:00:38] they put in a lot of effort and uh patrick has like three times job uh but he still does and he works

[01:00:43] i think at universal studios and putting all his information out there but he's kind of connected

[01:00:47] in that area and he's a film buff but him and his friend they started off from the guyber podcast

[01:00:51] i discovered that i enjoyed it but it was like a 35 minute strict recap of the episode uh

[01:00:58] sometimes some some host you know some special guests but they have great senses of humor but they

[01:01:03] never lingered on any the funny moments and i was like come on guys you guys have great sense

[01:01:07] trying to send to a two minute joke is it about the one moving that's in that corner

[01:01:11] that so i said you know i said we have an opening here to be funny with it and i even

[01:01:18] on our very first twitter post i think i said you know why would you listen to him a guyber

[01:01:21] podcast when a great one already exists uh tagging phoenix foundation i said because we're bringing

[01:01:26] you know the funny whatever so there yeah there's plenty of my guyver content out there but i think

[01:01:30] nobody makes fun of it uh like quite like we do we're just so weird it's not like

[01:01:36] the guyver is going to come over there and suffocate you with a pillow he doesn't care if you make fun

[01:01:41] no Mike he might left the show but he met rda in at the steel city con in april and hung around and

[01:01:48] put really you know press the flash to try and work the the crowd he got in there and got five

[01:01:52] 10 minutes with Richard den Anderson and he was very accommodating we told him about the show

[01:01:56] he said well yeah we go who he hosts the podcast they were making fun of a guyber what do what

[01:02:00] what is that you know uh what do you think when you hear that he said um bring it on

[01:02:04] he's just like you know he's 72 so he's over and he's just you know he's had a great life

[01:02:08] and he he agrees there's lots of fun to be poked at that calendar at that character but he uh

[01:02:12] he's proud of the legacy um that is love that's wonderful man you guys went to town

[01:02:22] they're still in town you're never in town we're doing five lowly more way four more seasons to go

[01:02:27] yeah one check out my guyver engage i promise you that

[01:02:30] you know well uh i need to go uh so thank you again for very much time man you you guys

[01:02:38] owned it you had tons of fun and uh much like keep circling those tapes uh keep activating

[01:02:48] the humor gadget keep making fun of a guyver keep making fun of a guyver thank you can't

[01:02:52] it's been it's been our pleasure anytime that and hopefully these were enough crazy just

[01:02:58] gotcha moments that we summed up you know it was it was great anytime anytime it is okay

[01:03:03] okay stay safe out there and treat everyone with respect and maybe find out a way to

[01:03:11] hop on a plane hop on a horse that's being pulled up by a helicopter yeah we're working on it

[01:03:17] trust me we are working at it i got speed to y'all thank you for being here

[01:03:27] on the web on facebook winner and instagram the podcast is available on pod b spotify i heart
