[00:01:49] There's no need to fear the number 13 any longer.
[00:01:55] Okay, you big hump of a man, come and get me!
[00:01:59] Everyone's just dying for Jason.
[00:02:01] And now his latest stab at terror has been slashed to just 1995.

[00:02:17] There will be hot takes, but there will be only love.
[00:03:09] Because we got a mature crowd here.
[00:03:12] We're not flinging shit at each other.
[00:03:14] It's all about validating.
[00:03:16] Oh, now you tell me.
[00:03:21] Shit, wrong podcast.
[00:03:23] Oh, sorry, did you think this was Drake and Derulo or whoever the hell he's muting with?
[00:03:29] Did you think this was a rap battle?
[00:03:30] Sorry, wrong podcast.
[00:03:32] Yeah, I had eight diss tracks all lined up.
[00:03:37] Shit.
[00:03:38] God damn it.
[00:03:39] Yeah, no, basically, this was a long time in the making.
[00:03:42] Like, we wanted to do this when we first launched in 2019.
[00:03:45] And then we couldn't get everyone on the same track.
[00:03:49] I'm glad we waited this long.
[00:03:51] I feel like so many of us have changed our interest as we've gone on and all that.
[00:03:55] And you didn't want to just rush through these.
[00:03:58] And I know you could argue that some of these become lowbrow after a while.
[00:04:01] But I believe in giving every movie as much time as I can, just so I don't sound like a babbling idiot.
[00:04:07] And if going on memory, you know, hey, if it's vivid in your memory, that's fine, too.
[00:04:12] You know, and so I was glad that we waited for a while.
[00:04:15] And it's like, OK, perfect.
[00:04:17] Now is the perfect Halloween special to do the franchise face off.
[00:04:22] And that's the other thing, too.
[00:04:23] I had seen people rank and do like the ultimate Elm Street ranking or all the Jason film rankings.
[00:04:30] I never seen anybody do a franchise versus another franchise.
[00:04:34] So we were just like, OK, cool.
[00:04:35] We're going to do that with Alien and Predator eventually.
[00:04:37] We'll do it with Star Wars and Star Trek.
[00:04:39] But let's let's have we didn't know that we didn't face off the entire franchise.
[00:04:45] Like who had the better comics and who had the better games.
[00:04:48] OK, so I was like, let's let's have Freddie and Jason kind of start off that whole thing.
[00:04:54] And can I go on one small tangent real quick before we really get going?
[00:04:58] Yes, mom.
[00:04:59] Everybody, everybody always says Star Wars versus Star Trek.
[00:05:04] I feel like the two aren't really all that compatible because Star Trek is always a little more hard science fiction.
[00:05:11] While Star Wars is more fantasy in space.
[00:05:15] It's a bunch of space wizards throwing magic back and forth at each other.
[00:05:18] And I don't know if anybody has really done it.
[00:05:21] But what I would think would be cool, you know, just my own personal opinion would be Star Wars versus Lord of the Rings.
[00:05:28] That's fair.
[00:05:29] I'm always going Star Wars right there.
[00:05:31] No, absolutely.
[00:05:33] Well, absolutely.
[00:05:34] Because, yeah, we're talking fantasy.
[00:05:36] They really don't much in common.
[00:05:38] Other than that.
[00:05:39] If you're talking if you're talking hard sci-fi, it'd be more like Star Trek versus Battlestar Galactica.
[00:05:44] Or Galactica.
[00:05:46] Yeah.
[00:05:46] Yeah.
[00:05:47] Or Stargate.
[00:05:47] Yeah, exactly.
[00:05:48] No.
[00:05:49] I think the only reason that it keeps being Star Trek and Star Wars is because of that difference.
[00:05:53] And it does become very personal.
[00:05:56] And they're kind of just from the movies.
[00:05:57] They're sort of wrapped up in the same generation.
[00:06:00] That's a good point.
[00:06:02] I did my versus comparison years ago.
[00:06:05] It's like Elvis and Beatles.
[00:06:07] It's kind of more like that.
[00:06:09] That's true.
[00:06:10] Yeah, that's a good point.
[00:06:11] Are you an Elvis man or a Beatles man?
[00:06:12] Good point.
[00:06:13] Depends on the time of day.
[00:06:14] See, Jack always brings it around.
[00:06:16] Jack is the ultimate peacekeeper.
[00:06:17] He should work for the UN.
[00:06:20] I mean, if the money was better.
[00:06:23] No, no.
[00:06:23] Yeah, if he had time to stitch all these countries back together.
[00:06:30] I'd rather work in movies.
[00:06:31] Jack would be the guy who's like, okay, you two dictators, you duke it out in a wrestling ring while we all watch.
[00:06:36] I'd rather work in movies where the stakes are, hey, your movies suck.
[00:06:40] Eh, life goes on.
[00:06:42] Right?
[00:06:43] That's how I feel.
[00:06:44] Lots simpler.
[00:06:46] Like I was watching Wolves in 2014 the other night.
[00:06:50] And oh my God, I loved it back then.
[00:06:53] I was like, this is so good.
[00:06:54] Why did I like it?
[00:06:55] And then I watched it the other night.
[00:06:56] This is fucking horrible.
[00:06:58] What movie in 2014?
[00:07:00] Wolves.
[00:07:01] Jason Momoa.
[00:07:02] How did we get there?
[00:07:03] I'm coming back to it.
[00:07:05] Okay.
[00:07:06] But yeah, but like watching it, like Momoa, he was having a ball playing that one.
[00:07:13] And it's a bad movie, but he was having fun and I could tell that.
[00:07:17] And I like that kind of shit because you have all these different movies that come out and people are like, oh, it's so horrible.
[00:07:22] It's so bad.
[00:07:23] And then you go based off that and you come back to it and watch it yourself and you're like, this isn't bad.
[00:07:29] This is really good.
[00:07:30] Everybody else just doesn't know how to dictate how it's supposed to be.
[00:07:35] You just go by one line of thought.
[00:07:37] It's bad.
[00:07:38] And then you're forever locked on that until you actually watch it yourself and formulate your own thing.
[00:07:45] Oh, absolutely.
[00:07:47] What I always love is when you watch a movie that was a notorious flop and a notorious bomb and it's getting reappraised and you're like, yeah, let's rewatch it.
[00:07:57] And then you watch it and you're like, oh, this did suck.
[00:08:03] We got it right the first time.
[00:08:04] So now the question becomes, why are other people exploding on it or rediscovering it?
[00:08:10] Or I mean, I think I saw a few people do that with like some spy comedy and Netflix and then a few other like serial killer movies.
[00:08:20] And it's like, really?
[00:08:22] How did we get here?
[00:08:23] But it is what it is.
[00:08:25] OK, Cinema Mac.
[00:08:26] Mac of the movies.
[00:08:27] There you go, buddy.
[00:08:28] Hey, welcome, welcome.
[00:08:30] I'm going to be circling around.
[00:08:31] We'll validate everybody.
[00:08:33] We got 14 points.
[00:08:35] And if we can't get to an even number, we'll figure it out.
[00:08:39] I'll flip a coin.
[00:08:40] We'll determine who has, you know, the best of the first seven parts.
[00:08:44] Then we'll determine if Jason parts eight through 10 or of any validity.
[00:08:48] And we'll determine if the versus movie has more merit for Freddy or has more merit for Jason.
[00:08:53] And if it is a good movie or a bad movie, then we will determine which had the better spinoff or remake.
[00:08:58] If we hate all of four of those, then we still got to determine which one sucked less.
[00:09:03] You know, you should write this down so you don't forget.
[00:09:06] I don't have to forget.
[00:09:08] I'm letting you know.
[00:09:11] Just saying.
[00:09:13] So welcoming aboard.
[00:09:15] We got Lucas Dickinson, Oreo back in the show.
[00:09:18] Welcome.
[00:09:20] Hello.
[00:09:20] Hello.
[00:09:21] Author Bill Hatfield is back with us.
[00:09:23] Welcome.
[00:09:24] Greetings, everyone.
[00:09:25] He watches a movie per day.
[00:09:27] Voices from the balcony.
[00:09:29] Front man blogger, Jim Morazzini.
[00:09:31] Welcome.
[00:09:32] Hi.
[00:09:32] Hi.
[00:09:32] Podcaster and movie buff, Gabriel Juett is back.
[00:09:36] Hey, what's up?
[00:09:37] The sky.
[00:09:38] And Jason's falling.
[00:09:41] Goemaker Jack Bennett is back with us.
[00:09:43] That's me.
[00:09:44] And then we got Parker from Dissect That Film.
[00:09:47] Hello.
[00:09:48] Hello.
[00:09:48] Good to be here.
[00:09:49] Ryan McGann from the Front Face Lock podcast.
[00:09:52] Hello.
[00:09:52] Hello.
[00:09:53] He's always exploding on Twitter.
[00:09:55] He's always got a hell of a sit down going with his cast.
[00:09:59] And I'm your host, Sully.
[00:10:00] Let's get these nightmares out of our heads.
[00:10:02] So many doctors have tried.
[00:10:04] Nightmares never leave my head.
[00:10:06] Nightmares are just horror movies directed by your brain.
[00:10:09] Exactly.
[00:10:11] For all two and part of that.
[00:10:12] See PTSD.
[00:10:13] That too.
[00:10:15] I need a reboot.
[00:10:16] A reboot of your nightmare?
[00:10:18] Yeah.
[00:10:19] Yay, depression.
[00:10:21] Nightmares don't faze me anymore.
[00:10:23] Just because they're always so fake to where I start interacting with them.
[00:10:27] And next thing you know, like my, I wake up and I'm like, wow.
[00:10:30] The things in your nightmares are going.
[00:10:32] This is what's supposed to happen.
[00:10:32] A day where a professor was basically just putting me on the spot saying, you don't try anymore.
[00:10:38] And I'm just like, well, that's not true in any dark realm in any future.
[00:10:45] And so I just started arguing with the professor and I woke up.
[00:10:49] Like I was feeling like a motherfucker.
[00:10:51] Like I was getting F's and F's.
[00:10:52] I'm like, yeah, that doesn't happen in any reality.
[00:10:56] I got to see you.
[00:10:57] I don't get enough.
[00:10:59] No.
[00:10:59] And Mac from Mac of the Movies is with us.
[00:11:02] Just in case I didn't mention you.
[00:11:03] How are you, buddy?
[00:11:04] Ah, just keeping busy.
[00:11:07] Just trying to make it through the month before I go on my mandatory two weeks.
[00:11:10] It's not at Crystal Lake, is it?
[00:11:12] No, I'm going to even worse.
[00:11:13] Niagara Falls, Canada.
[00:11:14] Oh.
[00:11:15] Oh, boy.
[00:11:16] What a while there.
[00:11:18] Nice.
[00:11:18] Okay, so we got 14 points.
[00:11:20] I'll circle around.
[00:11:21] We'll validate everybody here.
[00:11:25] And feel free to mention a moment of the particular movie we're discussing as well.
[00:11:29] That'll inevitably happen, but I'm just putting that disclaimer out there.
[00:11:32] So, Jack, you were really, really excited.
[00:11:34] So I'm going to let you go first.
[00:11:35] Does Elm Street Part 1 rule?
[00:11:38] Or does Friday the 13th Part 1 just have a little more fun, even if it's objectively maybe not as great?
[00:11:44] I've recently watched both series.
[00:11:46] I have to say, A Nightmare on Elm Street is not only instantly iconic.
[00:11:50] If you crank the volume on that thing, watch it in a dark room, it's just one of the great horror movies.
[00:11:58] And the original Friday the 13th is just a little bit more like a soft copy of Halloween.
[00:12:06] It doesn't...
[00:12:07] Definitely a bit of blood.
[00:12:08] Sorry.
[00:12:09] It doesn't work nearly as much.
[00:12:11] It's one of my least favorite in the franchise just because I find it slow and kind of dull.
[00:12:18] The acting's pretty good for a movie like that, but no.
[00:12:21] I think it's an easy layup for A Nightmare on Elm Street.
[00:12:24] Okay.
[00:12:24] So, one point.
[00:12:25] Did you by a chance write each movie down?
[00:12:28] Yes.
[00:12:29] Okay.
[00:12:29] Did you put a tally by each film?
[00:12:32] Way ahead of you, homie.
[00:12:33] All right.
[00:12:34] Cool.
[00:12:34] Just checking.
[00:12:37] Lucas, man.
[00:12:38] You've been really stoked for this.
[00:12:39] Which first installment of these franchises do you enjoy more?
[00:12:43] I mean, it's not a surprise to anybody that knows me, but I'm going to go with Friday the 13th.
[00:12:48] Okay.
[00:12:50] It's kind of like the more traditional type of slasher.
[00:12:52] As much as I love both franchises, Friday the 13th works better for me personally, although it's not as scary.
[00:13:03] Although that could be because I originally watched Nightmare first and I watched it too young.
[00:13:07] I was like nine or ten and it scared the absolute shit out of me at that age.
[00:13:13] Didn't get to Friday the 13th until a few years later.
[00:13:17] But yeah, for me, it's definitely Friday the 13th despite the fact, you know, the obvious influence of Halloween and all that.
[00:13:28] But nice.
[00:13:30] Yeah.
[00:13:31] Yeah.
[00:13:31] If it weren't for Friday the 13th, I wouldn't be into horror or I wouldn't be into any of this stuff.
[00:13:37] This is what I like.
[00:13:38] We validate everybody.
[00:13:39] This is more personal.
[00:13:42] Exactly.
[00:13:43] Yes.
[00:13:44] Love it.
[00:13:44] Love it.
[00:13:45] Love it.
[00:13:45] Love it.
[00:13:46] Ryan.
[00:13:47] Not Stiles.
[00:13:48] What you got?
[00:13:49] I have to go Nightmare on Elm Street.
[00:13:50] Parker.
[00:13:51] Not Ray.
[00:13:52] What do you got for us?
[00:13:54] Nightmare on Elm Street.
[00:13:55] It was my introduction to horror.
[00:13:58] I love everything about that movie.
[00:14:00] Friday the 13th was the entry.
[00:14:03] One of the entries that I wouldn't watch as much as the other.
[00:14:06] So I don't have like the same that same connection or nostalgia for it.
[00:14:13] But I just revisited it for an episode and I appreciate it as its own thing because the fact it's not Jason, you know, you find, you know, spoiler alert for anyone who doesn't know that.
[00:14:24] Who the hell is he?
[00:14:26] Come on!
[00:14:28] But yeah, I appreciate what they did in that movie.
[00:14:30] And I know like even Sean S. Cunningham came out and was just like, yeah, we were ripping off Halloween.
[00:14:35] Like we were, that's what we wanted.
[00:14:37] And, you know, I just appreciate everything that went into that movie.
[00:14:39] But yeah, it's Nightmare all the way.
[00:14:42] Mac, what you got for us?
[00:14:44] I'm, it's for me, hands down, it's Nightmare on Elm Street.
[00:14:47] I just thought the kills were much more creative, especially the one with the rotating room.
[00:14:52] Creative kills, I'm going with Nightmare on Elm Street.
[00:14:55] Nice.
[00:14:55] Okay.
[00:14:56] Mac.
[00:14:57] Laying it down.
[00:14:58] Laying down the law for us.
[00:15:00] All right.
[00:15:01] So, Bill, what you thinking?
[00:15:03] For first installments, I got to go Nightmare on Elm Street because that first movie, of course, Wes Craven is a genius director.
[00:15:13] Rest in peace.
[00:15:15] And that first movie just comes in fully formed.
[00:15:19] You're good to go next.
[00:15:21] Jeez.
[00:15:23] So, first versus first.
[00:15:25] I would have to go with, I mean, you could say the first one's underrated for having his mom as the killer.
[00:15:34] Like, that's a massive plot twist.
[00:15:36] Even today, like, that's massive.
[00:15:38] It was like, oh, yeah, Jason's the killer.
[00:15:40] Okay, so, Aurea, you're landing on 13th.
[00:15:43] Well, yeah, I'm starting with that.
[00:15:45] And then with Elm Street, first one, that one is more iconic because you have a great cast.
[00:15:52] You have your introduction to the killer right off the bat.
[00:15:58] And it's like, there he is.
[00:16:00] He's right there versus Jason building up to his mom being the killer.
[00:16:05] And the thing that makes the difference between the first two is you have a stellar cast in Elm Street versus a great plot twist in Friday the 13th.
[00:16:15] But if I had to pick either one as the winner between the two, I'd have to go with the first one because it has a better plot twist.
[00:16:24] Even though Elm Street introduces your killer right off the bat and you have the star of Southern cast following up with that, like, it's great.
[00:16:31] It's awesome.
[00:16:31] It's cool.
[00:16:32] But a plot twist that makes everybody think about something else, it really does change the game, especially for that time frame.
[00:16:41] Because that's so wild.
[00:16:43] It's like, wow.
[00:16:43] Usually it's a male killer.
[00:16:45] But you have your mom being the killer instead.
[00:16:48] Like, that's a hell of a plot twist.
[00:16:49] We're actually wondering where the hell it came from.
[00:16:52] Yeah, for real.
[00:16:53] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:16:55] I'm not the only one on Friday's side here.
[00:16:58] So far.
[00:16:58] Like I say, we're going to even regardless of who the winner is, we're going to get our best points out.
[00:17:03] You know, this is like there's a reason we keep talking about these damn franchises.
[00:17:08] Oh, for sure.
[00:17:09] Absolutely.
[00:17:10] Even when it becomes formulaic, it's not just like any other franchise.
[00:17:15] Kudos to what's his name at New Line for Bob Shea for, you know, even understanding it, you know?
[00:17:22] Oh, absolutely.
[00:17:23] Especially when so many of those other guys were just caving into political pressure, acting like, oh, I'm sorry, we're making snuff.
[00:17:30] It's like, no, you're making a cool slasher.
[00:17:32] Stop it.
[00:17:33] I'll hand it over to Gabriel.
[00:17:35] Not the Archangel.
[00:17:36] Just Gabriel.
[00:17:36] How you doing?
[00:17:38] I got to go Nightmare on Elm Street.
[00:17:41] I think it's the perfect supernatural slasher.
[00:17:44] I like the cast, the special effects.
[00:17:46] Just everything about it, I think, is just a great movie, especially for the time period.
[00:17:51] Friday the 13th is good.
[00:17:52] I like it a lot, but it's not even the best camp slasher from that time period, because, you know, you had The Burning, you had Sleeper, which are like better movies, in my opinion, than the original Friday.
[00:18:07] But yeah, Nightmare on Elm Street is definitely the way to go for me.
[00:18:11] All right.
[00:18:13] Jimmy.
[00:18:14] Jimmy.
[00:18:15] What'd you think?
[00:18:16] Jimmy.
[00:18:17] Jimmy.
[00:18:20] It's kind of a hard choice for me, but I give a slight edge to Friday the 13th.
[00:18:27] Hey.
[00:18:27] Just because I'm more a slasher type than a supernatural type.
[00:18:33] Oh, yeah.
[00:18:34] And from living in rural areas a lot of the time, being outside after dark, just kind of, it's naturally creepy to me.
[00:18:45] I agree that that helps.
[00:18:47] That does help, absolutely.
[00:18:50] Nice.
[00:18:51] I mean, not to take away from the original Nightmare, that's a damn good film, but...
[00:18:59] I love everything you guys have said.
[00:19:01] Yes.
[00:19:01] I feel like the first Friday the 13th, I didn't click with it right away.
[00:19:05] I thought it was fine.
[00:19:06] Elm Street is like the first big one.
[00:19:08] And just looking back at it now, man, this is a bleak movie, but it doesn't let its guard down.
[00:19:16] It makes use of it.
[00:19:17] And kudos to how they frame just the effects and shots.
[00:19:23] I feel, no matter whether you're watching this on a low-res TV copy or on a Blu-ray, you feel that steam in the room.
[00:19:34] You're trapped.
[00:19:35] It's a very claustrophobic movie, and it really plays well to that.
[00:19:39] So my vote's for that.
[00:19:41] But yes, I'm with you.
[00:19:43] Friday the 13th, the first one, is unfortunately overlooked.
[00:19:47] Even though, aside from the plot twist, it makes good use of trying to be more than just another Halloween copycat.
[00:19:57] That's free for the 13th.
[00:20:01] I mean, if they had went with Jason as the killer in the first one, it just would have been a shitty rip-off completely than what they have, the success it has now.
[00:20:11] True.
[00:20:12] Yeah.
[00:20:12] All right, so Elm Street is going to win the part one.
[00:20:15] Just 7 to free.
[00:20:18] But there's plenty of room for everybody on the table.
[00:20:22] All right, so we're going to circle around again on who has the best part two.
[00:20:27] Mack, lead us away.
[00:20:29] No doubt I'm going with Friday the 13th part two on this one.
[00:20:33] Just because I love the fact that Sackhead Jason's basically a tribute to the Town of the Dreaded Sundown.
[00:20:41] That's a good point.
[00:20:42] I actually haven't heard of that.
[00:20:44] That's a good point.
[00:20:45] Yeah, and I even came up with a fan theory that Jason's father was the Texarkana killer, but that'll be another time.
[00:20:52] You know?
[00:20:53] I don't hate it.
[00:20:54] I like it.
[00:20:55] That would play more interesting.
[00:20:56] It would make the Town of the Dreaded Sundown more interesting.
[00:21:00] That would be more interesting.
[00:21:01] As much as I'm glad that Nightmare on Elm Street part two is getting the reappraisal that it deserves, I still got to go with part two of Friday.
[00:21:10] Okay, cool.
[00:21:11] Lucas, what you got for us?
[00:21:14] Well, I'm going to go on this one Friday the 13th also.
[00:21:19] Again, I like both of them, but I think the atmosphere in Friday part two is fantastic.
[00:21:28] It's got, I think, even more of the camp elements and that and everything, and a quicker, a little bit of a better pace, I think.
[00:21:37] And you've got Jenny, who is a fantastic final girl.
[00:21:40] My personal favorite final girl.
[00:21:42] She's not from the block.
[00:21:44] I couldn't help it.
[00:21:46] Sorry.
[00:21:48] She's my favorite final girl in horror.
[00:21:51] She's smart.
[00:21:54] The actress for that was Amy Steele, I think her name was.
[00:21:58] Amy Steele.
[00:21:59] Amy Steele.
[00:22:00] She was made of Steele.
[00:22:01] She was tough.
[00:22:02] Yeah, she actually fights back, uses her brain.
[00:22:05] She doesn't just run and everything.
[00:22:08] She's not helpless like so many of the other girls in these movies.
[00:22:12] Parker, how about you lead us in?
[00:22:14] Ooh, this is a tough one because I'm one of the few who actually has loved the second Nightmare.
[00:22:20] If you love them both, you can just determine even like which one you typically watch more if it's that hard.
[00:22:26] You know, growing up, it was a Nightmare series as a whole.
[00:22:29] So Nightmare two, I definitely watched more than Friday two.
[00:22:32] Yeah, this is tough.
[00:22:33] I really I'm going to pick I'm going to pick Nightmare.
[00:22:36] I'm going to pick Nightmare because I love the way Freddie looks in this.
[00:22:39] It's probably the best makeup of the in the franchise.
[00:22:42] Part three is when Freddie started started falling off being scary.
[00:22:46] With this one, he is like genuinely scary and he's got the really good makeup.
[00:22:51] And to be honest, I like the story.
[00:22:53] I like this like new kid goes moves into the house, starts experiencing stuff.
[00:22:57] Of course, like you have the whole gay overtone that they that they put on there that it never bothered me.
[00:23:04] And it never shouldn't bother anybody.
[00:23:05] We're all progressive here, but exactly.
[00:23:08] In fact, I would even argue Elm Street two is the original toxic fandom before we had all the other.
[00:23:14] Oh, yeah, absolutely.
[00:23:15] Oh, for sure.
[00:23:15] For sure.
[00:23:16] You can't determine who's legit didn't like it versus who didn't like it because a different voice was represented.
[00:23:22] You're like, for real.
[00:23:23] Right.
[00:23:23] Yeah, that's not the problem.
[00:23:25] It shouldn't be a problem.
[00:23:26] So I'm just I'm just going to give the slight edge to Nightmare just because I really love Freddie in this movie.
[00:23:32] Yeah.
[00:23:32] Parker gets his man.
[00:23:33] Yeah.
[00:23:36] All right.
[00:23:37] Private Eye Ryan, what you got for us?
[00:23:39] What do you investigate?
[00:23:41] I like them both.
[00:23:44] Just like, you know, I love it.
[00:23:45] We got a bunch of just like Parker was saying, like, I like the way he looks.
[00:23:49] I like the way he sounds.
[00:23:50] I love the story, the concept of the story.
[00:23:52] I think it could have been done better.
[00:23:54] Him possessing the body of somebody else because he's got the brains, blah, blah, blah.
[00:23:58] There was a lot of things that didn't make sense, like why he was coming out when everyone was awake.
[00:24:02] But then the pool scene is amazing.
[00:24:05] Like, that's one of the best scenes in all of the Nightmare movies.
[00:24:07] All right.
[00:24:08] Jimbo, what's your take on the best part two?
[00:24:13] The best part two?
[00:24:16] Probably Friday the 13th.
[00:24:18] Oh, there we go.
[00:24:20] Hey.
[00:24:21] Hey.
[00:24:22] We just turned into the boss.
[00:24:25] Hey.
[00:24:27] Hey.
[00:24:28] Hey.
[00:24:29] My problem with Nightmare Part 2 was they rewrote so, you know, like he said, they rewrote so much of what Freddy could do and the rules for Freddy between the two films.
[00:24:44] Whereas for the Friday the 13th films, they just said, screw it.
[00:24:47] We're getting a whole new killer.
[00:24:49] You know, I go into Nightmare Part 2 and it's suddenly like, what the hell?
[00:24:53] This ain't Freddy.
[00:24:55] Freddy can't do that.
[00:24:56] What's he doing out during the day?
[00:24:58] He's a vampire man.
[00:25:00] But he's got it.
[00:25:01] I don't know.
[00:25:01] He's a day wanderer.
[00:25:02] A day wanderer.
[00:25:03] There you go.
[00:25:04] Blaine versus Freddy.
[00:25:07] Love it.
[00:25:08] All righty.
[00:25:09] Both new line.
[00:25:10] You can do it.
[00:25:11] Exactly.
[00:25:11] We can technically do it.
[00:25:14] All right, Bill.
[00:25:16] What's on your mind?
[00:25:18] Besides nightmares.
[00:25:21] See, this one and the next two are going to be tough for me to choose.
[00:25:25] All right.
[00:25:26] Because, yeah, I may end up having to.
[00:25:30] But in both cases, these are when, you know, I feel like they really come into their own.
[00:25:37] You've got, you've got Nightmare on Elm Street 2.
[00:25:42] You've got, you know, they're changing up the style.
[00:25:46] They say, all right, the last one was Freddy killing a bunch of teenagers.
[00:25:50] How do you do?
[00:25:51] This one, we're going to have one guy.
[00:25:56] We're going to follow him throughout the movie.
[00:25:59] I mean, I guess the first one you followed Nancy throughout the movie.
[00:26:01] But still, you're going to follow this one guy and really get to know his character really well and really, like, sympathize with him and understand what he's going through instead of just, you know, having a bunch of kids be mindless cannon fodder.
[00:26:15] And I really, I really loved that.
[00:26:18] I think it was as much of a good character study as it was a slasher movie.
[00:26:24] And like everyone has said, that pool scene is just one of the best points of the whole franchise.
[00:26:32] And I don't know why Wes Craven didn't like it.
[00:26:36] But I think he said something about he thought it was stupid because Robert Englund was short.
[00:26:42] And so all these teens were going to tower over him.
[00:26:44] But I think it was a mixture of not being involved at first.
[00:26:47] I mean, I probably would be if I was in that mindset.
[00:26:50] And this is kind of where it gets into all these celebs are so close to the material.
[00:26:55] We just have they just have to let it go, you know.
[00:26:58] Right.
[00:26:58] Right.
[00:26:58] But, yeah, I got to disagree with Wes Craven because that pool scene is just something else.
[00:27:05] I love it.
[00:27:07] And and then we get to Friday the 13th, part two.
[00:27:11] And, yeah, we finally meet Jason.
[00:27:13] We've got one of my favorites, Hillbilly Jason, because I live in Arkansas.
[00:27:21] I'm just a couple hours away from Texarkana.
[00:27:24] So I grew up with the whole town that dreaded sundown.
[00:27:27] And so I always love seeing Baghead Jason with his hay fork around.
[00:27:31] OK, so, Bill, you are flipping a coin on the 13th.
[00:27:34] Yeah.
[00:27:35] Coin flip.
[00:27:35] I think I'm going to give the edge to Friday the 13th just by a hair.
[00:27:40] Get it in the bag.
[00:27:42] But I do very much love Freddy's Revenge.
[00:27:45] I think it might be the second or third best in the Nightmare franchise.
[00:27:49] That's the beauty.
[00:27:50] You can like both.
[00:27:51] It's just.
[00:27:52] Yeah.
[00:27:52] We still got to pick a winner.
[00:27:54] So.
[00:27:56] All right.
[00:27:57] So, Jack, what you got for a simple Jack?
[00:28:01] All right.
[00:28:02] We'll do a simple Jack.
[00:28:04] This is.
[00:28:06] Now I want to see a Tropic Thunder version of Friday the 13th.
[00:28:09] Anyway, go ahead.
[00:28:11] This is maybe the hardest one for me to pick.
[00:28:15] And plus it's up in two.
[00:28:17] Well, Friday the 13th part two is when that series started getting fun.
[00:28:22] Like that.
[00:28:23] That movie moves.
[00:28:25] It is.
[00:28:25] It is.
[00:28:26] It's got all the templates.
[00:28:28] All the things I look for from a slasher movie.
[00:28:32] From skinny dipping with the kind of girl who would never talk to me in high school.
[00:28:39] To inventive kills.
[00:28:40] I feel that.
[00:28:40] High body count.
[00:28:42] Yeah, right?
[00:28:42] I didn't hear any bitterness in that, by the way.
[00:28:45] Oh, no.
[00:28:46] Not at all.
[00:28:47] Yeah.
[00:28:47] I mean, you know, she'll talk to me now.
[00:28:51] She'll talk to me now, but only because she wants a part.
[00:28:53] So the thing is, it's an important movie to me.
[00:28:58] It's an important movie in a lot of ways.
[00:29:00] But having just watched them recently, there's this thing that I notice as an adult, which
[00:29:07] is the movie that doesn't have the boring parts, which is the movie where the boring
[00:29:14] parts are still interesting to me.
[00:29:16] So I watch Friday the 13th Part 2 now, and the counselors are all kind of annoying, and
[00:29:23] it's just, I'm just waiting for the kills.
[00:29:25] It's still a good movie.
[00:29:27] It's still a really good movie, and it moves like crazy.
[00:29:30] But Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2, I enjoy the quote-unquote boring parts.
[00:29:35] I like the characters.
[00:29:36] I like the gay subtext.
[00:29:38] I like all of the weird stuff that happens in that movie.
[00:29:43] I like that it's weird.
[00:29:44] I like that it is off formula.
[00:29:45] And it's a more interesting movie to me.
[00:29:48] And then you get to that pool scene that they've never replicated in any way in the rest of
[00:29:53] the franchise.
[00:29:54] It's the one movie that has that scene in it.
[00:29:57] We got another, guys.
[00:29:58] That's the best one yet.
[00:29:59] And that's the thing.
[00:30:01] Those first three Nightmare movies, I like that they're so different from each other.
[00:30:05] They're still trying to figure out what they are.
[00:30:07] And Nightmare 2, for all the grief that it got, it's kind of influenced the rest of the
[00:30:13] franchise in ways that I think Wes Craven wouldn't even want to talk about.
[00:30:18] I'm going to give it to Nightmare 2.
[00:30:20] I like that movie a whole lot.
[00:30:22] And just as a singular horror film that's different from anything else in the series,
[00:30:27] that's the movie that I want to put on if I'm going to put on one of the Part 2s.
[00:30:31] All righty.
[00:30:31] Hey.
[00:30:32] We're actually neck and neck.
[00:30:34] This will be interesting.
[00:30:37] Gabriel, what's on your mind?
[00:30:40] I got to go Friday, too.
[00:30:42] I think it's not only one of the best sequels, it's just one of the best slasher movies.
[00:30:48] Like people have said, it has one of the best final girls that kills or exquisite.
[00:30:54] I think it's just a massive step up.
[00:30:55] I love the emphasis on exquisite.
[00:30:57] Hey.
[00:30:59] Are we now going to judge who has the better gore and boobs?
[00:31:04] No, that will be here all day.
[00:31:06] So no.
[00:31:08] She has better nipples.
[00:31:09] Hers are ugly.
[00:31:11] It's going to be an eight-hour podcast if you go that route.
[00:31:13] Right.
[00:31:14] Oh, but more practical here.
[00:31:16] Oh, but that was cooler.
[00:31:18] You can see her implant.
[00:31:20] Jason killed more.
[00:31:21] I swear Freddy killed more.
[00:31:23] I love it.
[00:31:25] I love it.
[00:31:25] All right, Oreo.
[00:31:26] Second to last.
[00:31:27] Survivor.
[00:31:29] I have not seen either of these films.
[00:31:32] But if I'm going to pick them up.
[00:31:35] Kick them off the call.
[00:31:38] Record scratch.
[00:31:39] Isn't there a rule?
[00:31:40] Isn't there a rule?
[00:31:41] Yeah.
[00:31:42] Okay, so you didn't vote.
[00:31:45] All right.
[00:31:46] So you wrote in a vote for these nuts while we chose a party.
[00:31:51] But if I had to pick, I would go with Alan Street.
[00:31:55] Just close your eyes.
[00:31:56] Just close your eyes.
[00:31:57] Yeah, close your eyes.
[00:31:59] I think I saw what I thought I did in Ashley Street.
[00:32:02] No, it's true.
[00:32:02] I haven't seen all the films in Spider-Man.
[00:32:05] I'm just saying.
[00:32:05] What the fuck, dude?
[00:32:07] I don't watch part of that much.
[00:32:09] I really don't.
[00:32:10] Even the older stuff, I barely watch it.
[00:32:12] All righty.
[00:32:13] I'm going to echo a lot of what you guys have said.
[00:32:14] I didn't think all the acting is 100% in part two of Elm Street.
[00:32:18] But you should still see it for the music score by Christopher Young.
[00:32:22] The cinematography.
[00:32:23] Same cinematographer, as a matter of fact.
[00:32:25] Jax Hadkin, who later went on to shoot the Wishmaster movies.
[00:32:29] Rest in peace.
[00:32:29] I do think Kim Myers is good.
[00:32:32] Padden is all right.
[00:32:33] I think it goes pretty fast and everything.
[00:32:36] And the final shot on the bus, you know, is very harrowing.
[00:32:40] Kind of in an alien kind of way.
[00:32:42] You know the scene.
[00:32:43] And it's not 100% for me.
[00:32:47] So I got to give the edge, though, to Friday the 13th.
[00:32:50] Because I feel like, kind of like Rath of Khan.
[00:32:52] And I'm not ranking it on the same level as Star Trek.
[00:32:55] But it is in terms, I think, I think the second movie is what just started the new style that
[00:33:00] everyone became knowledgeable on Friday the 13th for.
[00:33:03] You should see both of them at least once.
[00:33:05] You know, just and make up your mind.
[00:33:07] We'll return after these messages.

[00:34:30] I'm so excited to find out what everybody votes for for part three.
[00:34:34] I can't imagine it won't...
[00:34:35] I get number three.
[00:34:37] The dungeon charm.
[00:34:40] It's going to be really interesting to see if anybody...
[00:34:43] My answer was easy.
[00:34:46] I'm right.
[00:34:47] I'm right.
[00:34:48] You say that now.
[00:34:48] You say that now.
[00:34:51] Oh, man.
[00:34:52] Okay.
[00:34:53] Who's going first, Cam?
[00:34:54] Well, hold up.
[00:34:54] Okay.
[00:34:55] So, it was just barely, but we got six to free.
[00:35:00] So, yeah.
[00:35:01] Friday the 13th won part two.
[00:35:03] Didn't help that one person.
[00:35:04] Didn't vote.
[00:35:07] So, yeah.
[00:35:08] Part three.
[00:35:09] This is going to be great.
[00:35:10] This is going to be the turn of the ranking for sure.
[00:35:13] This is going to be a very tricky.
[00:35:15] All right.
[00:35:17] Gabriel.
[00:35:19] All right.
[00:35:19] Shangel.
[00:35:20] What do you think?
[00:35:21] Dream Warriors.
[00:35:22] I think Dream Warriors.
[00:35:25] I don't think it's the best Nightmare sequel, which I'll get to that.
[00:35:28] I know that might be a hot take, but it's definitely one of the best.
[00:35:31] It's what it means to you.
[00:35:33] It's the soundtrack, too.
[00:35:35] The Dawkins.
[00:35:36] Dream Warriors.
[00:35:37] Yes.
[00:35:37] Fantastic.
[00:35:38] The cast is incredible.
[00:35:40] They actually care about them.
[00:35:42] One thing I think Nightmare doesn't get appreciation for is showing funerals and showing, like, characters actually grieving.
[00:35:48] That's true.
[00:35:50] Yeah.
[00:35:51] I think Dream Warriors is...
[00:35:52] Any other time, it's often someone is desecrating a grave or doing something disrespectful.
[00:35:56] Like, no.
[00:35:57] We're actually seeing people mourn.
[00:35:58] Yeah.
[00:36:00] Yeah.
[00:36:00] Yeah.
[00:36:00] Like, Nightmare handles, I think, characters growing from their experiences with Freddy really
[00:36:05] well.
[00:36:05] And Dream Warriors is one of the best examples of that, in my opinion.
[00:36:08] Hey.
[00:36:09] Hey.
[00:36:09] Emotional.
[00:36:10] Love it.
[00:36:11] Lucas.
[00:36:12] Who's on first?
[00:36:13] Who's going to hit a home?
[00:36:15] Okay.
[00:36:16] Well, this one for me, this is the toughest decision for me.
[00:36:20] Like you guys said, because you both have good elements.
[00:36:24] Oh, they absolutely do.
[00:36:27] But I do have to give the edge to Dream Warriors.
[00:36:30] I think it is probably the best supernatural slasher ever made, in my opinion, anyway.
[00:36:37] Hey.
[00:36:39] Even though it is the beginning of Jokey Freddy.
[00:36:43] Mm-hmm.
[00:36:44] And...
[00:36:45] There's still more good than bad.
[00:36:47] Oh, yeah.
[00:36:47] Absolutely.
[00:36:48] Because there's not much comedy in this one at all.
[00:36:52] The start of Chuck Russell's career before the blob and racer.
[00:36:57] Oh, my God.
[00:36:58] And, of course, I think we owe that all to that, you know, welcome to primetime, bitch
[00:37:02] line.
[00:37:04] That's right.
[00:37:05] That is.
[00:37:06] That's...
[00:37:07] I saw...
[00:37:08] I was bending them all back, and I couldn't for the life of me remember.
[00:37:10] It's like, when does he say that?
[00:37:11] Is it in part six?
[00:37:12] No, it's part three.
[00:37:14] It's here.
[00:37:15] And that...
[00:37:15] Yeah, that's the beginning of Jokey Freddy.
[00:37:17] But despite that, this one is...
[00:37:21] It's scary.
[00:37:21] It's one of the most...
[00:37:23] The most emotional, I think, of the Nightmare series.
[00:37:27] Mm-hmm.
[00:37:28] There we go.
[00:37:29] Mac.
[00:37:29] What are you thinking?
[00:37:31] Return of the Mac.
[00:37:33] Yeah, this is a tough one for me, too, because both of these do represent milestones.
[00:37:37] Who knew that Jason getting a hockey mask would be the big deal that it would become?
[00:37:42] Yes.
[00:37:43] I mean, to get outlawed in 2024.
[00:37:45] Yeah.
[00:37:46] But...
[00:37:49] I gotta go with Dream Warriors.
[00:37:50] There's just so much more for me to enjoy about Dream Warriors.
[00:37:54] That puppeteer kill still gets me with the tendons.
[00:37:57] That's sickening.
[00:37:59] Or Bradley Craig.
[00:38:02] Oh, so cool.
[00:38:04] Yes.
[00:38:04] And...
[00:38:04] I'm gonna pick that one as the best kill in the franchise, honestly.
[00:38:08] Oh, yeah.
[00:38:08] Not five, definitely.
[00:38:09] Yeah.
[00:38:10] Oh, yeah.
[00:38:10] And then also, too, just some of the other ones I like to, like, I don't believe in magic
[00:38:14] is, like, one of my personal favorites as well, where he just kills...
[00:38:17] Do you believe in magic?
[00:38:18] He kills the D&D kid.
[00:38:19] But, yeah.
[00:38:20] And this is Frank Darabont, Chuck Russell, Freddy Krueger.
[00:38:25] That's right.
[00:38:25] One of Darabont's early years we love.
[00:38:27] So, yeah.
[00:38:28] So, yeah.
[00:38:29] I gotta go with Dream Warriors on this one.
[00:38:31] All righty.
[00:38:32] Return of the Mac.
[00:38:33] Billy!
[00:38:34] Billy!
[00:38:35] Oh, so as I'm trying to decide this one, the question that I'm asking myself is, am I judging
[00:38:45] these by how good of a movie they are or how good of a slasher they are?
[00:38:51] Because those can be two very different things.
[00:38:54] Like, Dream Warriors is a great movie.
[00:38:59] It has an excellent storyline of all these kids that have been thrown into a mental institution.
[00:39:07] They're going to gang up and go against their oppressor.
[00:39:11] It's just a really well-crafted, well-made movie.
[00:39:16] And it's just the perfect continuation after the first two.
[00:39:21] And then on the other hand, you've got Friday the 13th Part 3, which is just such a fun movie.
[00:39:30] It's just one that I can sit down and just have a good time with watching all the cheesy 3D effects.
[00:39:38] And like the eyeball poking out and going right at the screen.
[00:39:43] And just the ridiculous subplot with the motorcycle gang.
[00:39:49] It is just so much fun.
[00:39:52] And it is really hard for me to pick.
[00:39:55] I think the better movie is Dream Warriors, but the better slasher is Part 3.
[00:40:01] And if we're discussing slasher franchises, then I've got to give the edge to Friday the 13th.
[00:40:10] All righty.
[00:40:11] Look at Jason go creeping up on us.
[00:40:17] Ryan, what you thinking?
[00:40:19] Skip me because I told you my thing freezes at 29 after the hour and it's 28.
[00:40:24] So skip me and I'll come back.
[00:40:26] He's stuck in the Matrix.
[00:40:28] Let's do this.
[00:40:28] He just did a Jedi mind trick on me.
[00:40:30] All right.
[00:40:31] Jack, what do you think?
[00:40:34] I am shocked that anybody picked Friday the 13th on this one.
[00:40:39] But.
[00:40:40] Oh, excuse me.
[00:40:43] Who's me?
[00:40:45] I got to give it to this one.
[00:40:47] The Hockey Mask.
[00:40:48] Who'd have thought?
[00:40:49] Just like you said.
[00:40:50] Yeah, it's a fun movie.
[00:40:52] It's, I don't know.
[00:40:53] Last time I watched it, it bored me a little bit.
[00:40:56] And that's weird because after the second one, I feel like Steve Martin.
[00:41:00] Steve Martin.
[00:41:02] I feel like Steve Martin as director of these movies.
[00:41:07] And I meant, you know, Raymond Burr, Steve Martin.
[00:41:09] I think Steve Miner nailed Friday the 13th part two.
[00:41:14] Yeah.
[00:41:14] And then Friday the 13th part three is just a little flabby.
[00:41:18] And I don't know.
[00:41:19] Maybe it's also me also being a Jersey native and watching.
[00:41:22] Apparently, Jersey is in California somewhere north of Los Angeles.
[00:41:27] But I don't remember the parts of Jersey.
[00:41:29] So it's all right.
[00:41:30] Yeah, there you go.
[00:41:30] Spring.
[00:41:31] Yeah, it's in the somewhere in the canyon.
[00:41:33] But there's there's something to be said for Friday the 13th part three, even with the cheesy 3D of it all.
[00:41:41] It doesn't shit the bed.
[00:41:42] It's a fun movie.
[00:41:44] Yeah.
[00:41:44] But Dream Warriors is the master of puppets of horror movies.
[00:41:49] I love it.
[00:41:51] It's the third one.
[00:41:52] It's the most popular.
[00:41:54] And yeah, you might like other ones better, but it's the best.
[00:41:58] It's just head and shoulders above.
[00:42:01] It's the most rewatchable.
[00:42:03] And Lucas, you're absolutely right.
[00:42:05] It's the only one that has like a motion to it.
[00:42:07] I get a little misty when she says I'm going to dream when she says at the end when Patricia
[00:42:12] Oh, my God.
[00:42:14] I'm like, why am I watching a slasher flick in which I hate the slasher for killing these
[00:42:19] kids?
[00:42:20] And it's just like it's it's a fucking masterpiece of a movie.
[00:42:24] And you can tell because everyone after it until New Nightmare is just trying to remake
[00:42:29] Dream Warriors.
[00:42:30] So there you go.
[00:42:31] Dream Warriors.
[00:42:32] If I could vote for it twice, I would.
[00:42:35] Oh, then we'll be here all day because we've upset the scale.
[00:42:40] Parker, Peter Parker.
[00:42:42] What do you got?
[00:42:44] This wasn't hard because I have when it comes to Friday part three, it's close to the bottom
[00:42:52] of my ranking for this franchise.
[00:42:55] The fact that he gets his mask from Shelly infuriates me every freaking time I watch this
[00:43:00] movie because Shelly is one of the rocks.
[00:43:02] I listen, I will never judge anyone for loving Shelly, but I can't stand.
[00:43:07] Well, he's the franchise of lawyer.
[00:43:09] So you got to give him credit for that to say.
[00:43:11] He's actually a lot of people's lawyers.
[00:43:13] So you can't love Shelly.
[00:43:15] Yeah.
[00:43:16] Hey, listen, the actor.
[00:43:18] Okay.
[00:43:18] I'm not going to say anything about him.
[00:43:20] The character is just annoying.
[00:43:23] And just the fact that he gets the mask from him, it pisses me off every time.
[00:43:27] Dream Warriors is is fantastic.
[00:43:30] It's got some of the most iconic kills in the franchise.
[00:43:33] The story is great.
[00:43:34] It's got Lawrence Fishburne in it.
[00:43:37] So, yeah, there's one of the psych wards.
[00:43:38] Wes Craven's back, you know, putting his fingers into the back into the franchise, you know,
[00:43:43] along with Frank Darabont, who's a legend.
[00:43:46] One.
[00:43:46] Was that the COVID in that?
[00:43:48] No, that would not.
[00:43:49] No, no, no.
[00:43:50] That's a little later.
[00:43:52] Three more movies.
[00:43:54] Also, I love that you look at the guys in your casting and you say, okay, he's going to play the orderly.
[00:44:01] And let's get the guy from Body Double to give the worst performance of his career as the Bill Maher lookalike psychiatrist.
[00:44:08] Oh, my God.
[00:44:10] Who has a weird relationship with Nancy.
[00:44:12] What the hell is this?
[00:44:13] The Bill Maher lookalike.
[00:44:14] Oh, and Nancy's back.
[00:44:15] Like, come on.
[00:44:17] Like, this movie is like when it comes to a nightmare movie, it is almost perfect.
[00:44:22] Yep.
[00:44:24] While the last few are collecting their thoughts, I'll just say yes.
[00:44:28] I got to go with Dream Warriors.
[00:44:30] Me too.
[00:44:31] I can go now after you're done.
[00:44:34] Oh, okay.
[00:44:35] So Oreo and I are combining our thing and we'll let you go.
[00:44:38] So, yeah, Nancy and her cop dad returning really carries the movie.
[00:44:42] There's a lot of stunning sequences in the dreams.
[00:44:44] So, obviously, I'm going Nightmare 3.
[00:44:47] It's the first one I've seen of the whole franchise when I was a kid.
[00:44:51] That was the first one.
[00:44:53] It's a damn near perfect movie, in my opinion, as far as horror movies.
[00:44:57] I can't imagine watching this first.
[00:44:58] That's awesome.
[00:44:59] So, Jim, not Wynorski.
[00:45:02] Pretty much everybody's...
[00:45:03] Oh, boy, Jim Wynorski.
[00:45:05] Come on.
[00:45:05] I couldn't help myself.
[00:45:08] Not Wynorski.
[00:45:09] He's going to insert all the stock footage.
[00:45:11] You're like, you bastard.
[00:45:12] You didn't even film that.
[00:45:14] Cam, I feel like you can help yourself.
[00:45:17] You keep saying you can't help it.
[00:45:18] I feel like you can.
[00:45:20] Nope.
[00:45:21] He really can't help himself.
[00:45:21] Still running for Jason.
[00:45:25] Okay.
[00:45:25] So, where are you going to go, Morzini?
[00:45:27] Where are you going to go?
[00:45:28] Where am I going to go?
[00:45:30] I'm going to go with...
[00:45:31] There's no chance you're going to overvote Elm Street, but I just want to see.
[00:45:36] Yeah, I'm going to go with Elm Street, despite the fact goddamn Dokken was in it.
[00:45:42] Or on the soundtrack, I should say.
[00:45:43] What?
[00:45:44] Green Warriors is amazing!
[00:45:46] To be honest, that's the only song I know from Dokken, so...
[00:45:49] That's the only song they have.
[00:45:50] It's the only good song.
[00:45:51] Or the closest to a good song, I should say.
[00:45:55] Sorry.
[00:45:55] He's picky on the...
[00:45:56] George Lynch sucks, except for that song.
[00:45:59] That's it.
[00:46:02] No.
[00:46:03] No, George Lynch had to go and form his own damn band, Lynch Mom.
[00:46:06] Lynch Mom.
[00:46:07] To get away from Don Dokken, because Don Dokken sucks balls.
[00:46:10] Don Dokken.
[00:46:11] Wow.
[00:46:11] And even the video for that song was great, because it had Freddy in it.
[00:46:15] Uh-uh.
[00:46:16] Right?
[00:46:17] Don't you love how Alice Cooper's in part six of both these franchises, too?
[00:46:21] I didn't know that.
[00:46:21] It's a very heavy metal franchise.
[00:46:25] Actually, what's funny, if you hear the demo version of Man Behind the Mask, it sounds
[00:46:29] almost like friggin' disco.
[00:46:30] Who listens to the demo of Man Behind the Mask?
[00:46:34] I didn't mean to.
[00:46:35] People who love the song.
[00:46:36] I don't know.
[00:46:37] Has Jim voted yet?
[00:46:38] Yes.
[00:46:38] Are we there yet?
[00:46:39] Yes.
[00:46:40] We'll get there.
[00:46:42] Who's on first?
[00:46:43] But no, that's some good trivia.
[00:46:45] I love that.
[00:46:46] I love that nobody talks about Dokken more than in the context of this movie.
[00:46:51] You see that Dokken film, man?
[00:46:54] It's so cool.
[00:46:56] What film?
[00:46:56] Even Dokken isn't talking about the band as much as we are every time we bring up Night
[00:47:02] 3.
[00:47:02] Well, would you rather it be Winger?
[00:47:04] What's going on here?
[00:47:06] There's a lot of bands I could have chosen.
[00:47:08] Kevin Wasp.
[00:47:11] Wasp.
[00:47:12] Perfect.
[00:47:12] Wasp was too busy doing films for Full Moon.
[00:47:16] Yeah.
[00:47:18] True.
[00:47:18] Yeah.
[00:47:18] There are a bunch of Charles Band's early movies.
[00:47:23] Yep.
[00:47:24] Gotta love it.
[00:47:25] Man has good taste in puppets and boobs.
[00:47:27] Um, so, uh, but we're not here to talk about Jack Death or Puppet Master.
[00:47:34] We're here to talk about part four.
[00:47:37] And this is another one no one can agree on.
[00:47:40] So, Parker, who are you going to call?
[00:47:43] I finally got it.
[00:47:45] Finally got to go to the other side.
[00:47:47] We're going to Crystal Lake, baby.
[00:47:49] Well, no, no, no.
[00:47:50] You got to break on through to the other side.
[00:47:52] Oh, sorry.
[00:47:53] Break on through.
[00:47:56] Sorry.
[00:47:56] Sorry.
[00:47:57] Um, sorry.
[00:47:57] Not sorry.
[00:47:58] Um, no part four top top two all time for this franchise.
[00:48:04] I love it.
[00:48:05] Uh, you know, our introduction to Tommy Jarvis.
[00:48:08] Tommy Jarvis.
[00:48:09] Yeah.
[00:48:12] Oh, that's not why I love this character ever.
[00:48:19] Oh, I'm just kidding.
[00:48:21] It's always a gladiator.
[00:48:22] Now I want to see a gladiators call.
[00:48:24] See him with Jason.
[00:48:28] I love Jason in this movie.
[00:48:30] I love kind of like the whole showdown at the end.
[00:48:32] I love all the kills in this.
[00:48:34] I mean, Corey Feldman's there, you know, before he started playing really bad guitar.
[00:48:38] Man's a god.
[00:48:39] Man's a god.
[00:48:40] Yeah.
[00:48:42] That's why I surrounded by angels.
[00:48:44] I'm not going to tell you.
[00:48:45] And we got some of the best dancing ever.
[00:48:49] Chris McGlover.
[00:48:49] Oh man.
[00:48:50] Chris McGlover.
[00:48:50] Oh my God.
[00:48:52] Yeah.
[00:48:53] It's just such a wild movie and I have such a blast with it every single time.
[00:48:57] So I guess Oreo to save time.
[00:48:59] You also voted 13th.
[00:49:01] Yeah.
[00:49:02] All right.
[00:49:02] Perfect.
[00:49:03] Gabriel.
[00:49:04] Talk to us.
[00:49:05] Oh, talk to us.
[00:49:07] I'm going to go Dream Master, which I know is kind of a...
[00:49:11] It's whatever you like.
[00:49:14] Lucas.
[00:49:15] What'd you think?
[00:49:16] Oh yeah.
[00:49:17] Well...
[00:49:17] Coin toss.
[00:49:19] No, this one's definitely not a coin toss for me.
[00:49:22] This is the final chapter all the way.
[00:49:23] Um, because like I said with the last one where Dream Warriors was Freddy at his meanest.
[00:49:29] This one is obviously Jason at his meanest.
[00:49:32] He is just...
[00:49:32] Obvious.
[00:49:33] Yeah.
[00:49:33] Raging the entire time.
[00:49:35] Every kill is so full of rage and menace.
[00:49:41] I think this is Joseph Zito's best hour as director.
[00:49:44] Because he sees other stuff and it's very junky.
[00:49:46] But here, like, he is very surprisingly suspenseful.
[00:49:50] Like, he did another slasher in the 80s that comes on Showtime once in a while.
[00:49:54] It's the Prowler.
[00:49:55] Yes.
[00:49:55] I think he met Stuntman Kane Hodder on that, if I'm not mistaken.
[00:49:58] He met some other effects guy.
[00:50:00] Maybe Savini.
[00:50:01] Yeah.
[00:50:01] Okay.
[00:50:01] So he met Savini on there.
[00:50:03] So it was just another day at the opera for him.
[00:50:07] And he was ready to copy and paste.
[00:50:09] And I think he does a little better here to elevate that.
[00:50:13] So my vote for it, too.
[00:50:15] That finale is so good.
[00:50:17] Dream Warriors is the best supernatural slasher.
[00:50:19] I would say this is the best pure slasher ever made.
[00:50:23] Hey.
[00:50:24] All right.
[00:50:25] So, Bill, not hater.
[00:50:27] We'll let you go.
[00:50:28] Yeah.
[00:50:29] So we've got Dream Master and we've got the final chapter.
[00:50:34] I'll tell you, one of my personal pet peeves is when any sequel feels the need to introduce
[00:50:42] a child character.
[00:50:45] I don't know why.
[00:50:47] Yeah.
[00:50:48] It's just.
[00:50:50] Yeah.
[00:50:51] Yeah.
[00:50:51] I'm not a fan of those little things.
[00:50:53] I used to be one.
[00:50:54] I know how awful they can be.
[00:50:55] It's not the person.
[00:50:56] I just don't like kids.
[00:50:58] Do you relate it to the sitcom that brings on the cute kid as soon as the rating?
[00:51:02] Yeah.
[00:51:03] The guy's married with children was seven.
[00:51:05] Silver Spoons edition of Friday.
[00:51:07] Perfect.
[00:51:08] I don't know.
[00:51:09] I feel like the final chapter, in my own personal opinion, it's got a few moments, but I feel
[00:51:16] like it's just kind of a rehash of part three.
[00:51:20] And I think it does take place like immediately after part three.
[00:51:24] And I just feel like it doesn't have a whole lot going for it.
[00:51:28] I'll tell you what.
[00:51:28] It would be completely redeemed in my eye if at some point Crispin Glover had approached
[00:51:34] Jason and gone, you take your damn hands off her.
[00:51:40] Like George McFly.
[00:51:42] Oh, well.
[00:51:43] Then we got to sneak in a David Letterman cameo by that point.
[00:51:46] Yeah.
[00:51:47] Get this guy on my desk.
[00:51:51] But my vote is going to go to Dream Master.
[00:51:54] I didn't grow up in the 80s.
[00:51:57] I'm a 90s baby.
[00:51:58] So I assume that Dream Master is an accurate representation of the mid-80s.
[00:52:05] Yeah.
[00:52:06] Assume.
[00:52:07] It's definitely...
[00:52:08] We're getting some...
[00:52:12] Sorry, I'm going to...
[00:52:14] It's definitely called the MPV movie for good reason.
[00:52:18] But I like it.
[00:52:20] It's stylish.
[00:52:21] It's fun.
[00:52:23] You know, Freddy...
[00:52:24] Is that the one where Freddy's in the chef outfit?
[00:52:28] Oh, God.
[00:52:30] Yes.
[00:52:31] No, no.
[00:52:32] No, it's not.
[00:52:33] That's five.
[00:52:33] Oh, that's five.
[00:52:34] Wow.
[00:52:35] Oh, okay.
[00:52:36] Well, nevertheless...
[00:52:38] At least...
[00:52:39] Nevertheless, yeah.
[00:52:40] The one gal who's in part five.
[00:52:41] But, yeah.
[00:52:43] Nevertheless, I'm going with Dream Master on this one.
[00:52:45] One thing I do remember from part four that I do really love is that scene where they're
[00:52:52] at the diner and, like, the scene kind of keeps repeating where they keep kind of going
[00:52:57] into the truck.
[00:52:58] No, you keep repeating.
[00:52:59] No, you keep repeating.
[00:52:59] Yeah.
[00:53:02] Pretty soon.
[00:53:03] But, yeah.
[00:53:03] I'm going Freddy for this one.
[00:53:05] Mac.
[00:53:06] Barely remembers shit about the Nightmare on Elm Street film, so I'm going with...
[00:53:11] I'm going with Final Chapter.
[00:53:12] He was there.
[00:53:13] He doesn't remember.
[00:53:15] Yeah.
[00:53:16] It's just...
[00:53:16] There's so much more that I remember about Final Chapter.
[00:53:19] Jimbo.
[00:53:20] What are you thinking here?
[00:53:22] Final Chapter.
[00:53:24] Yeah.
[00:53:26] I mean, four could have been better if Randy Harlan had brought his A-game as a director,
[00:53:33] but...
[00:53:33] I just found it so dull on this.
[00:53:36] It was just...
[00:53:38] It felt like a music video.
[00:53:40] It was just lacking something.
[00:53:42] It lacked balls.
[00:53:45] Oh, my God.
[00:53:47] I didn't check in his pants, so I can't be sure.
[00:53:50] I can't verify.
[00:53:51] Jack be nimble.
[00:53:52] Jack be quick.
[00:53:53] Question mark?
[00:53:54] What do you think?
[00:53:56] No contest.
[00:53:58] Dream Master is slick, but it kind of bores the shit out of me.
[00:54:03] It's the wisecracky Freddy.
[00:54:07] The third one, he has some funny lines, even though he's scary as shit.
[00:54:11] And the fourth one, what does he say after the shark thing?
[00:54:15] Doesn't he go like, surf's up or something?
[00:54:17] Yay.
[00:54:17] Put your sunglasses on.
[00:54:20] It's so lame.
[00:54:21] I couldn't remember.
[00:54:23] I hate that they recast the Patricia Arquette character, but they try to keep the emotional
[00:54:28] continuity.
[00:54:29] It doesn't work.
[00:54:31] It's just kind of a mediocre movie to me.
[00:54:33] And also, it's like a weak retread of the third movie.
[00:54:36] Yeah.
[00:54:37] They even brag.
[00:54:38] The final chapter.
[00:54:39] When they bring back the whiny guy from part three, I'm like, uh, no, thank you.
[00:54:43] Friday the 13th, the final chapter is the dream warriors of the Jason.
[00:54:48] Hey!
[00:54:48] Yes.
[00:54:49] I put it at number one.
[00:54:51] It is the distillation of all the stuff that worked before, and then it creates the stuff
[00:54:57] that's going to get imitated after.
[00:54:59] And it's just, it's everything I want out of a slasher movie.
[00:55:02] All right, Ryan.
[00:55:03] Ryan, this is kind of locked in the vote, but you can still.
[00:55:07] Yeah, I'm going Friday the 13th on this one, except for one issue I have with the movie.
[00:55:11] The whole, you know.
[00:55:12] I'm with Tommy.
[00:55:13] You got the dog pissing scene.
[00:55:15] You got the gaining the palace gains the powers of people.
[00:55:20] The makeup became the generic makeup for the next three movies for four, five, six.
[00:55:28] It just wasn't, it wasn't a Freddy movie.
[00:55:31] It's fun.
[00:55:32] You watch it.
[00:55:34] I don't have any time.
[00:55:34] Like, you got Tom Savini coming back for Friday the 13th four, because he said, I'd do
[00:55:39] it if I can kill the character.
[00:55:42] So, he came back to do the makeup because he wanted to kill it.
[00:55:45] He didn't want to do it anymore.
[00:55:46] Yeah.
[00:55:47] So, you got the original guy coming back to kill the thing.
[00:55:50] My only issue with four.
[00:55:54] Tom's allowed to be wrong.
[00:55:56] No, no.
[00:55:56] Tom's, yeah, well.
[00:55:58] But the only issue with four is that Tommy Jarvis, who's the worst character in Friday
[00:56:02] the 13th, and we'll talk about that later.
[00:56:05] So, we're on part five.
[00:56:07] The odd number out again.
[00:56:09] Oh, my God.
[00:56:11] Gabriel, what did you think?
[00:56:13] I'm going to go Friday five.
[00:56:15] It's a weird movie, but I like that it's weird.
[00:56:18] I think it's really brave to find me.
[00:56:21] Man, let's kill our villain, keep him dead, and then replace him with an ambulance driver.
[00:56:27] Like, it's got to happen at a camp.
[00:56:30] Like, I don't know.
[00:56:31] It's, it's pretty exciting, especially for a mainstream debut by a porn director.
[00:56:36] And it feels like it at times.
[00:56:37] Yeah.
[00:56:38] Yeah.
[00:56:38] I was gonna say.
[00:56:39] Nice.
[00:56:40] I love it.
[00:56:41] Mac, what you got for us?
[00:56:43] Uh, I'm gonna go with part five on Friday the 13th as well.
[00:56:47] Woo!
[00:56:48] Despite the fact that I.
[00:56:50] Very heroic kid.
[00:56:51] I hate Impostor Jason.
[00:56:53] Uh, but I do like just the kooky bunch of characters that we have at this.
[00:56:59] Guys at the diner.
[00:57:00] At this home.
[00:57:00] Yeah.
[00:57:01] And also the fact that the person who's running the, I guess, halfway house.
[00:57:05] Uh, he's the one that's at the beginning of Last Crusade.
[00:57:09] That, uh, Young River Phoenix is going up against.
[00:57:11] So, that is the fake indie.
[00:57:14] Oh, my God.
[00:57:14] I gotta pop out of that.
[00:57:16] Wow.
[00:57:16] Oh.
[00:57:17] And, uh, to just that weird.
[00:57:19] It does come around.
[00:57:20] The weird robotic dance is a classic.
[00:57:23] Uh, Debbie, Debbie Sue Voorhees is not bad on the eyes.
[00:57:26] Uh, so I, I enjoyed this one despite the fact that it does that cheap fake Jason thing.
[00:57:31] Other than that, I, I got more enjoyment out of it.
[00:57:33] They needed something to do, man.
[00:57:35] They needed something.
[00:57:36] Yeah.
[00:57:37] I get, I get more out of it than Nightmare Part 5.
[00:57:39] All right.
[00:57:40] So, Jack, what are you thinking?
[00:57:43] So, the weird thing about Part 5 is that it's kind of done a Halloween 3 season, The Witch, Loop.
[00:57:49] I like that movie.
[00:57:51] Everybody hated it when it came out.
[00:57:52] Stop it, stop it, stop it.
[00:57:53] I loved 3.
[00:57:54] I loved Halloween 3.
[00:57:55] And that's the thing.
[00:57:56] The first time I saw Halloween 3, I was like, this is awesome.
[00:57:59] But I saw it 10 years later.
[00:58:01] So, when it came out, all the horror fans were like, there's no Michael Myers.
[00:58:05] Oh, related man.
[00:58:07] And the same thing happened to Part 5.
[00:58:10] But, I mean.
[00:58:11] There's no Michael Myers.
[00:58:12] My whole thing about A New Beginning is that it's kind of, it's like a mean movie.
[00:58:18] Like the, it's like everybody in the cast is Jennifer Rubin from Dream Warriors.
[00:58:23] Like, these kids are like, they've had like these shitty lives.
[00:58:27] These damn kids.
[00:58:28] But you know what I mean?
[00:58:29] Like, they wind up in a halfway house and they, and then they get killed by imposter Jason
[00:58:34] as like their reward for, you know, trying to actually get better and rejoin society and
[00:58:39] everything.
[00:58:39] That is true.
[00:58:40] So, now that's, it's like, it's, it's a weirdly in the franchise.
[00:58:44] It's kind of the one that gets under my skin the most.
[00:58:47] It's the most weirdly disturbing because of all that.
[00:58:49] Okay.
[00:58:49] So, is that where you're going to land?
[00:58:52] I'm absolutely voting for it.
[00:58:54] Ryan, what's your thinking?
[00:58:57] Nightmare on Elf Street 5 is the worst movie I've ever seen.
[00:59:00] Oh!
[00:59:01] 5.
[00:59:02] I understand the concept of the, of Freddy being around because the kid is sleeping,
[00:59:10] but the ending literally makes no sense to me.
[00:59:14] Never been able to understand what the, Freddy, teach me your thing.
[00:59:18] And then he spits a bunch of shit out at him.
[00:59:20] It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
[00:59:23] 5.
[00:59:23] 35 to me was one of the last 80s slasher movies.
[00:59:27] Like the, that real, like 80s, can't be slasher movies.
[00:59:32] You know, Joey gets killed by the guy with the axe and Roy has to avenge him because he,
[00:59:36] you know, that's his son.
[00:59:37] He's the EMT.
[00:59:39] And then I get why they were trying to, it's a new beginning.
[00:59:43] So they were trying to make it so that it was Roy and then it was Tommy,
[00:59:48] the worst character in the franchise.
[00:59:51] And it, you know, it was this whole, you know,
[00:59:53] and then the inbred family where the kids ride around his bike going,
[00:59:56] he hurt me.
[00:59:57] And then he gets decapitated and she's making it.
[00:59:59] Exactly that way.
[01:00:00] He hurt me.
[01:00:01] Yeah.
[01:00:02] It's all good.
[01:00:02] Just like maybe I can kind of stew and then she gets killed.
[01:00:07] So Tommy is your, to you, what Joey is to be an Elm Street or just like,
[01:00:12] Joey didn't say a word in three except for now.
[01:00:16] And then he talks a bit.
[01:00:18] I just re-saw him.
[01:00:19] He'll be mute in the whole movie in three.
[01:00:21] He talks a few times, like, come and get it.
[01:00:24] And it's just awful.
[01:00:26] He talks in his dream.
[01:00:28] Yeah, he's right.
[01:00:29] No, he doesn't talk in three at all.
[01:00:31] No, he actually does.
[01:00:32] I'm going to re-watch that because I don't,
[01:00:34] because as far as I remember,
[01:00:35] the reason Freddie comes out of the mirror is because Joey screams no.
[01:00:40] That Mandela.
[01:00:41] I'm talking in his final face-off where he's unleashing his time.
[01:00:44] Oh, yeah.
[01:00:44] You're talking about after he says no.
[01:00:47] Right.
[01:00:48] It's pretty bad.
[01:00:50] But, yeah, that's bad too.
[01:00:51] I'm not saying it's not bad.
[01:00:52] I'm just saying.
[01:00:53] This one, Thomas stank more.
[01:00:57] In the next, when we get to six,
[01:00:59] I'll explain why Tommy is the worst character ever.
[01:01:02] Oh, my God.
[01:01:04] This is.
[01:01:05] Okay.
[01:01:05] So, Orio, you're going to go with 13th as well?
[01:01:08] Five, 13th.
[01:01:08] Part five.
[01:01:09] Absolutely.
[01:01:10] I'm going to go with Elm Street.
[01:01:12] Oh, nice.
[01:01:14] Well, to be fair,
[01:01:15] I also didn't care for part five growing up.
[01:01:19] And don't get me wrong.
[01:01:20] Part five of 13 is way better.
[01:01:23] This outing,
[01:01:24] I also had a lot of fun with Elm Street.
[01:01:26] Lucas, what do you think?
[01:01:27] With Friday on this one as well.
[01:01:31] I'll echo a lot of what Ryan and Jack said.
[01:01:34] I think Dream Child is the worst of the Nightmare series.
[01:01:39] Fair enough.
[01:01:40] I get it.
[01:01:40] There's some shit in there.
[01:01:42] Yeah.
[01:01:42] I mean, it's fun.
[01:01:43] I'll give it that.
[01:01:44] But, yeah, there's just a lot in there that just.
[01:01:46] I hated it growing up.
[01:01:47] So, I was very surprised on this recent rewatch where I was like,
[01:01:50] I'm having fun.
[01:01:51] I don't know why I'm having fun.
[01:01:53] Yeah.
[01:01:54] There's just a lot there that even with Nightmare Logic,
[01:01:57] it just doesn't make sense.
[01:01:59] And.
[01:02:00] Well, just wait till we get to the next one.
[01:02:03] Oh, well.
[01:02:04] But still.
[01:02:05] But even with that,
[01:02:07] at that end, you know.
[01:02:09] Friday the 13th,
[01:02:11] New Beginning has Demon,
[01:02:13] who is just an amazing character.
[01:02:15] Funny as hell.
[01:02:17] The relationship that he has with Reggie,
[01:02:20] I think is really cool.
[01:02:21] You can see that they really dig each other as brothers and all that.
[01:02:26] Reggie!
[01:02:27] And I never,
[01:02:29] I was never one that minded that it was,
[01:02:30] you know,
[01:02:31] quote unquote,
[01:02:31] fake Jason.
[01:02:32] Because,
[01:02:33] you know,
[01:02:33] even though it's little flashes here and there,
[01:02:35] you do have the real Jason show up.
[01:02:37] I mean,
[01:02:37] they didn't have anywhere much else to go for a franchise where,
[01:02:41] you know,
[01:02:42] people were wanting cheap scares.
[01:02:44] Oh, yeah,
[01:02:44] yeah,
[01:02:44] for sure.
[01:02:45] I think it was 85,
[01:02:46] actually.
[01:02:47] Really?
[01:02:48] Yeah,
[01:02:48] 85,
[01:02:49] yes.
[01:02:50] Lucas,
[01:02:50] is Demon the actor from Return of the Living Dead who played Suicide in Return of the Living Dead?
[01:02:55] I think you're right.
[01:02:56] Yeah.
[01:02:56] The guy,
[01:02:56] yes,
[01:02:57] Junior,
[01:02:58] yes.
[01:02:58] Jack,
[01:02:58] don't you know him?
[01:02:59] Oh,
[01:02:59] I'm sorry,
[01:03:00] that spider.
[01:03:00] Yeah,
[01:03:01] yeah,
[01:03:01] because you got both of them.
[01:03:02] You got suicide.
[01:03:03] Yeah,
[01:03:03] the guy who kills.
[01:03:04] Yep,
[01:03:04] you got both of them.
[01:03:05] Yep.
[01:03:05] But Jack,
[01:03:06] don't you know him from all those crazy Albert Pion movies?
[01:03:12] Well,
[01:03:19] Mayor of Big N Nightmare.
[01:03:24] I didn't think of that.
[01:03:26] Now that's a loaded question.
[01:03:28] Yeah,
[01:03:28] I don't know.
[01:03:29] Probably,
[01:03:29] probably Little N,
[01:03:30] I guess,
[01:03:31] just because it's,
[01:03:32] it's just so much of that one is just really,
[01:03:35] just really confusing.
[01:03:37] Isn't it weird how you can tell the difference between like Dream Logic and just sloppy filmmaking?
[01:03:43] Yeah,
[01:03:44] yeah,
[01:03:44] exactly.
[01:03:45] It makes it easier for you to excuse it,
[01:03:47] and at the same time,
[01:03:48] it really shows its,
[01:03:50] its underlings.
[01:03:52] They try,
[01:03:52] they try to do Nightmare Logic,
[01:03:54] but it just ended up being more sloppy.
[01:03:56] Hellraiser does better with the dreams.
[01:03:58] Phantasm does dreams better,
[01:03:59] and Elm Street struggles.
[01:04:01] As Ryan pointed out before,
[01:04:04] also,
[01:04:04] it doesn't work under Capital N Nightmare Logic either,
[01:04:07] because it just,
[01:04:08] the mythology.
[01:04:09] Oh yeah,
[01:04:09] absolutely.
[01:04:10] Yeah,
[01:04:11] there's some bullshit.
[01:04:12] Don't get me wrong.
[01:04:13] I'm not,
[01:04:13] I never said it was a perfect movie.
[01:04:15] It,
[01:04:15] it's got a lot of shit in there that sucks.
[01:04:17] I think Tenhead would kill Freddy.
[01:04:21] Oh yeah,
[01:04:22] Freddy's not in part 10.
[01:04:24] Jason's in part 10.
[01:04:26] Get your numbers right.
[01:04:28] Jim Crow!
[01:04:30] What do you think?
[01:04:32] Going with,
[01:04:33] with Friday the 13th here.
[01:04:36] By this point,
[01:04:37] Don't get me wrong.
[01:04:38] Like you guys said,
[01:04:39] the characters are just more fun.
[01:04:41] By this point,
[01:04:42] the Nightmare franchise was in the shitter.
[01:04:45] Yeah.
[01:04:46] Fair enough.
[01:04:47] Fair enough.
[01:04:48] Fair enough.
[01:04:49] Five.
[01:04:49] I didn't expect to get any enjoyment on this outing.
[01:04:52] I don't know why.
[01:04:54] No,
[01:04:55] after four,
[01:04:56] I was kind of leery about five,
[01:04:58] but I went anyways.
[01:05:00] It sounds like you were forced to gunpoint.
[01:05:03] Pretty much.
[01:05:05] Some of my friends were like,
[01:05:06] we're going.
[01:05:07] And it's like,
[01:05:07] okay,
[01:05:07] I guess I got to come along.
[01:05:09] Okay,
[01:05:11] Super dude.
[01:05:13] New beginning,
[01:05:14] had some good kills.
[01:05:15] It hit Debbie Sue.
[01:05:17] It hit something.
[01:05:18] Five,
[01:05:19] you know,
[01:05:19] Nightmare five was just crap.
[01:05:22] All right.
[01:05:23] No,
[01:05:23] I'll get it.
[01:05:24] All right.
[01:05:24] Parker.
[01:05:25] Parker.
[01:05:26] This one is a toss up.
[01:05:28] Cause I don't care for either one of these movies,
[01:05:30] but I think just based on the kills and some characters that are just
[01:05:41] absolutely hilarious.
[01:05:42] I got to go with part five for Friday.
[01:05:44] Like I said,
[01:05:45] I don't care for either one of these.
[01:05:47] I usually,
[01:05:47] you're voting for the lesser of the,
[01:05:49] I skip five for both series.
[01:05:52] Pretty much every time,
[01:05:53] unless I have to watch it for something.
[01:05:55] Oh,
[01:05:56] this Tommy sucks.
[01:05:57] Like I agree.
[01:05:58] Like he sucks in this movie.
[01:06:02] Tommy Jarvis is like,
[01:06:04] stop it.
[01:06:05] The worst.
[01:06:06] He's like some like weird born again Christian guy.
[01:06:09] And now that like condemns that movie.
[01:06:11] He was in it.
[01:06:13] I think I have seen something like that.
[01:06:15] And you're like,
[01:06:15] good grief,
[01:06:16] but you took the money anyway.
[01:06:18] So they wrote it.
[01:06:19] They wrote it for Corey Feldman.
[01:06:21] They thought he was going to come back.
[01:06:23] He shows up at the beginning.
[01:06:24] That was in his backyard.
[01:06:26] Yeah.
[01:06:26] Yeah.
[01:06:27] But that was the thing.
[01:06:28] They couldn't make it work with the Goonies schedule or something like
[01:06:30] that.
[01:06:30] I can't remember.
[01:06:31] Damn it.
[01:06:31] Scalberg.
[01:06:33] He went and did a good movie.
[01:06:36] Can you imagine Scalberg had taken it up?
[01:06:38] Like gremlins start invading Freddie's mind.
[01:06:42] By the way,
[01:06:43] you do have to go back in time and watch like gremlins and some of those
[01:06:46] early Corey Feldman movies before he grows up to be like,
[01:06:50] Oh shit.
[01:06:50] Yeah.
[01:06:51] He was a really good child actor.
[01:06:53] Yeah.
[01:06:53] Like that McDonald's commercial.
[01:06:54] Like what I guess was hitting earlier.
[01:06:56] There's nothing wrong with the talent in these movies.
[01:06:57] It's just off screen where you're just like, really, dude?
[01:07:00] He's a God.
[01:07:01] He's a God.
[01:07:04] He's your Charlie Shane.
[01:07:05] I saw him live.
[01:07:06] He's a God.
[01:07:07] I saw it.
[01:07:08] Let's do it live.
[01:07:10] Fuck it.
[01:07:11] Do it live.
[01:07:12] Fuck it.
[01:07:12] Do it live.
[01:07:13] Fuck it.
[01:07:14] All right.
[01:07:14] So Bill, to close us out.
[01:07:16] There's things in the bag, but you can still vote.
[01:07:20] It's Friday.
[01:07:21] Friday.
[01:07:23] Jesus Christ.
[01:07:25] Not that bitch.
[01:07:25] Oh my God.
[01:07:26] No.
[01:07:27] Yeah.
[01:07:27] I don't have a whole lot to add to this one.
[01:07:31] Nightmare on Elm Street.
[01:07:32] Part five is really where it fell off the wagon.
[01:07:35] I hated the whole pregnancy storyline.
[01:07:38] It just, it did nothing for me.
[01:07:41] I think Jack said earlier.
[01:07:43] Uh, overall, I think, uh, Nightmare on Elm Street is the better franchise.
[01:07:49] Right.
[01:07:49] I think a lot of us said earlier, it had really high highs, but it also had a really low low.
[01:07:56] So Friday the 13th is able to be kind of consistent for the most part.
[01:08:00] Well, I mean, we'll get to part nine and kind of challenge that.
[01:08:03] We started part eight or six or seven.
[01:08:06] This is like comparing Mission Impossible to Fast and Furious.
[01:08:08] Which one is campier?
[01:08:10] But it really is the consistency of a fast food cheeseburger.
[01:08:14] Yes.
[01:08:15] I love it.
[01:08:16] Right.
[01:08:17] Burger King or Wendy's.
[01:08:17] Right.
[01:08:18] Whereas Frankie is you're going to your favorite local restaurant, but you know that they might
[01:08:22] have a bad day.
[01:08:23] Right.
[01:08:24] There might be rats in the kitchen.
[01:08:26] There might be a delay.
[01:08:26] Right.
[01:08:27] That's a really good analogy.
[01:08:29] Yeah.
[01:08:29] The best of the-
[01:08:30] Should you come over to my house more often?
[01:08:31] So, to save time, I guess we're going to vote Friday the 13th for part six all the
[01:08:36] way?
[01:08:36] No.
[01:08:37] No.
[01:08:39] No.
[01:08:39] Damn it.
[01:08:41] Friday the 13th, six is good.
[01:08:42] It's the last good Jason until Ken Kratzinger takes over.
[01:08:46] But this is why-
[01:08:48] Here's my problem why I say Tommy Jarvis is the worst character.
[01:08:53] Six through the rest would not have happened if Tommy Jarvis didn't dig his fucking body
[01:09:00] up.
[01:09:01] It was over.
[01:09:02] It was done.
[01:09:03] Yeah.
[01:09:03] But you could argue-
[01:09:05] And he had to go and dig the body up.
[01:09:05] You could argue that with Ash, like, without him opening the book of the record.
[01:09:10] We're not talking about Ash.
[01:09:11] I'm just saying as a contrast, you know, without the plot-
[01:09:15] As gamers say, PIS, plot-induced stupidity.
[01:09:18] Without the dumb thing that happens, you don't get all the utter awesome chaos.
[01:09:23] But you don't get-
[01:09:24] Here's the thing.
[01:09:25] The problem is you don't get awesome chaos after six of Friday the 13th.
[01:09:30] No offense to Lucas.
[01:09:32] I know you love the movies.
[01:09:34] But-
[01:09:34] I know you're in the death stare.
[01:09:36] You're not wrong.
[01:09:37] Really?
[01:09:38] If Tommy didn't dig him up and leave the fucking pole and he gets resurrected, seven, eight,
[01:09:44] nine, and ten would not have happened.
[01:09:47] No, you're absolutely right.
[01:09:48] You're right.
[01:09:49] That's why Tommy Jarvis is the worst character because he causes four other movies, which are
[01:09:56] awful.
[01:09:57] But then we wouldn't have got the worst part of the franchise.
[01:10:01] Oh, wait.
[01:10:02] But if Seth Brundle hadn't gotten to the transporter with The Fly, we wouldn't have that movie.
[01:10:09] True.
[01:10:09] But you don't also get four movies that are awful after it.
[01:10:14] Oh, okay.
[01:10:15] We'll get there.
[01:10:15] Wait, wait, wait.
[01:10:16] Hold on.
[01:10:16] One movie at a time.
[01:10:19] You can't blame Tommy Jarvis for anything but his stupidity in the movie he's in.
[01:10:24] But he's-
[01:10:24] It's only as good as his environment, Ryan.
[01:10:26] What I'm trying to say is that you're shitting on the character for creating the inciting
[01:10:32] incident.
[01:10:32] Yes.
[01:10:33] I am.
[01:10:33] I'm 100% shitting on the character for creating the incident.
[01:10:38] Fuck Tommy Jarvis.
[01:10:39] He sucks.
[01:10:40] Hey, Tommy.
[01:10:41] The Tommy Jarvis trilogy for me is the high point of that series.
[01:10:44] Don't you mean Tommy Wiseau, Ryan?
[01:10:46] Are you sure?
[01:10:47] Oh, yes.
[01:10:47] Tommy Wiseau, too.
[01:10:48] Yes.
[01:10:48] Yeah.
[01:10:49] I have a room tattoo, by the way.
[01:10:51] This is a room tattoo.
[01:10:53] You're tearing me apart, Lisa.
[01:10:54] Oh, that's brilliant.
[01:10:57] Without the Tommy Jarvis trilogy, all you got is a bunch of randos from movie after movie.
[01:11:02] You have 80 slasher movies and then Freddy vs. Jason.
[01:11:07] I'm sorry.
[01:11:08] That's a perfect-
[01:11:09] I would have picked probably Freddy and 13 over-
[01:11:12] You're showing your head.
[01:11:13] All right.
[01:11:14] Also, Tom Matthews, man.
[01:11:16] Tom fucking Matthews.
[01:11:17] Tom.
[01:11:17] Stick it to him.
[01:11:18] Tom.
[01:11:18] I like Six.
[01:11:20] I think Six is the last of the great Friday the 13th movies, except for when he throws
[01:11:25] them in the tree and there's a little happy face.
[01:11:27] But that's not neither here nor there.
[01:11:31] Oh, okay.
[01:11:31] But I like Six.
[01:11:33] The happy face bothers you, but the throwing the machete into the list in the beginning,
[01:11:38] that doesn't.
[01:11:38] No, not at all.
[01:11:39] The happy face bothers me.
[01:11:41] But I love when the little nerdy guy goes, beep, and it hits him and he goes,
[01:11:45] ya bang.
[01:11:46] Ya bang.
[01:11:47] Yeah.
[01:11:47] So, sidebar, your honor.
[01:11:49] Wasn't that a reference to the happy face killer that's referenced in The Howling?
[01:11:53] Yes.
[01:11:53] Dante Marellis.
[01:11:54] It is.
[01:11:54] But it's like-
[01:11:55] So they are part of the same universe in that and Tremors and Gremlins.
[01:11:59] Nice.
[01:11:59] So-
[01:12:00] That's an Easter egg.
[01:12:01] I'm going to be the only one going Freddy's dead in this one, apparently.
[01:12:05] All right.
[01:12:05] That's some-
[01:12:07] Actually, I think that I might go with Freddy's dead, too.
[01:12:09] All right.
[01:12:10] Wow.
[01:12:10] Okay.
[01:12:11] Sweet.
[01:12:11] Yeah.
[01:12:11] So, yeah.
[01:12:12] I didn't expect to like it on this rewatch.
[01:12:14] And Jack, that was a vote from you also for Nightmare.
[01:12:16] Oh, no, no, no.
[01:12:17] All right.
[01:12:19] I like Freddy's dead.
[01:12:20] But Jason Lives is arguably the best movie in the franchise.
[01:12:25] A lot of people, that's their favorite.
[01:12:27] It's a great movie.
[01:12:28] I just-
[01:12:29] I have issues with it because of what happened after.
[01:12:32] Okay.
[01:12:32] So with Freddy's dead, it's wild how-
[01:12:35] I think Lisa Zane is a very underrated lead.
[01:12:38] She has a perfect in-your-face attitude.
[01:12:40] I will admit the celeb cameos are bad, but it's just one scene.
[01:12:44] It is imperfect.
[01:12:45] It is uneven.
[01:12:46] It's still watchable once you get past the convoluted beginning and just go along for the ride.
[01:12:50] Now, but I do want to make clear, even though I'm defending Freddy's dead, I'm putting my vote for-
[01:12:55] Same.
[01:12:56] For Friday's 13th.
[01:12:57] Mine is still Freddy's dead.
[01:12:59] All right.
[01:13:00] Perfect.
[01:13:01] Lucas.
[01:13:01] Lucas?
[01:13:03] Well, obviously it's Jason Lives for me.
[01:13:07] Kind of multifaceted, not just because it's Friday the 13th, but this movie for me was my-
[01:13:13] Introduction?
[01:13:14] Was my introduction to not just Friday the 13th, but aside from a few of the universal horrors and stuff like that, this was the first horror movie I saw.
[01:13:22] It was on TV a lot.
[01:13:24] Oreo, have you seen this movie and does it get your vote?
[01:13:26] I like Freddy's good shit.
[01:13:30] I like that one.
[01:13:31] It's funny.
[01:13:32] It keeps on the creativity of how he kills.
[01:13:38] It's iconic for the time frame.
[01:13:43] And it has everything that stands out about it.
[01:13:46] And it has young stars in it that will go on to have future success.
[01:13:50] Yes.
[01:13:50] And that's a beautiful thing.
[01:13:52] Most of them don't get that success.
[01:13:54] They end up being chewed up and spit out.
[01:13:56] Right.
[01:13:57] They become B-movie director video stars, unfortunately.
[01:13:59] Or they become typecast.
[01:14:01] And that's the worst thing.
[01:14:02] And you also get the origin of Freddy, how he became who he was.
[01:14:09] I love that.
[01:14:10] His dad was Alice Cooper if he hadn't gotten sober.
[01:14:12] Which is so funny.
[01:14:14] He's in both part sixes.
[01:14:15] And it does make you wonder, how did he adopt Freddy?
[01:14:17] He must have had a record.
[01:14:19] Oreo, from what you said, I just realized that the part sixes of both are the ones where it starts to become a parody.
[01:14:26] It's Alice Cooper-verse.
[01:14:27] It's Alice Cooper-verse, but also it starts to become self-aware.
[01:14:33] It's self-aware while still being flawed.
[01:14:36] It's a weird combo.
[01:14:37] It's funny, though, because Freddy ends the self-awareness in this one.
[01:14:41] But Jason keeps going in it.
[01:14:44] It's still going.
[01:14:45] It's like improv.
[01:14:46] Keep going.
[01:14:48] It's not working.
[01:14:49] Make the scene work.
[01:14:50] Make it stick.
[01:14:51] Yes, and.
[01:14:52] Yes, and.
[01:14:52] Yes, and.
[01:14:53] Right.
[01:14:54] It only dies when you set.
[01:14:56] I negate.
[01:14:56] It comes down.
[01:14:57] I don't put it back up.
[01:15:01] Comes back up.
[01:15:02] Mac, which way are you going to lean on this?
[01:15:05] This was actually kind of tough because I had a lot of fun with both films.
[01:15:09] I see.
[01:15:09] I'm so surprised.
[01:15:10] I see so many of them.
[01:15:11] Am I in a dream?
[01:15:12] Am I actually in a dream right now?
[01:15:14] There's all this love for Freddy's dead.
[01:15:16] I love the fact that Cam started off going, I think this is the definite vote for Friday 13th part six.
[01:15:22] I was surprised because I see so much shit and more of us ladies going to part four and five.
[01:15:29] So Parker, what's your rating?
[01:15:31] Oh, God.
[01:15:32] Here's the thing.
[01:15:33] Part six is my favorite Friday movie.
[01:15:35] I don't know.
[01:15:37] I love the way Jason looks.
[01:15:39] I love the kills and everything, but I have such a love for Freddy's dead and just how goofy it is.
[01:15:48] And I feel like it's so controversial because no, it's not.
[01:15:52] I have to go against my favorite of a franchise to choose a movie that I just have more fun watching.
[01:15:58] In Freddy's dead, I have more fun watching.
[01:16:00] You can put Freddy's dead on in the background and kind of do other things.
[01:16:04] If you're watching Friday 13th, it has so many.
[01:16:07] Like the flaws are there.
[01:16:09] Like it's the worst makeup for Freddy.
[01:16:12] This makeup is not good.
[01:16:14] It literally looks like he bought it from the spirit Halloween and they throw it out.
[01:16:17] It's unfortunate, but I love the gags.
[01:16:21] Lisa Zane.
[01:16:22] Come back.
[01:16:23] Lisa Zane.
[01:16:24] She's a babe.
[01:16:25] What?
[01:16:26] She was cool.
[01:16:27] She was awesome.
[01:16:28] She was great.
[01:16:30] And Yafikoto's there.
[01:16:32] Oh, Yafikoto.
[01:16:34] All right.
[01:16:35] So Jim, what do you think?
[01:16:36] Also, what am I thinking?
[01:16:38] The bat with nails in it.
[01:16:40] The bat with nails.
[01:16:42] Oh, my God.
[01:16:42] It's just, yeah.
[01:16:44] Freddy's dead is just fun.
[01:16:45] I just have a blast watching the movie.
[01:16:47] This isn't surprising.
[01:16:48] Okay, cool.
[01:16:49] That's awesome.
[01:16:51] Jason lives.
[01:16:52] Whoa.
[01:16:53] Hey.
[01:16:55] Nice.
[01:16:56] I couldn't even be bothered seeing Freddy's dead in the theater.
[01:17:01] I eventually had to rent it.
[01:17:03] Part five sucked so bad.
[01:17:06] I couldn't even be bothered to drag my ass to see part six in the theater.
[01:17:10] I eventually rented it.
[01:17:12] And I should have just saved my money.
[01:17:16] I'm going to say, Gabriel, what are you thinking, buddy?
[01:17:19] You surprised us this whole time.
[01:17:22] Jason lives.
[01:17:23] It's the best Friday.
[01:17:24] I think it's a really funny, entertaining movie.
[01:17:27] I love how the scenes with Tommy and I forget her name, but the love interest, it feels almost like a romantic.
[01:17:35] Kind of is.
[01:17:37] I'll give Freddy's dead three things.
[01:17:39] I love the Goo Goo Doll song that plays.
[01:17:42] Oh, that's right.
[01:17:43] Yeah.
[01:17:43] I love how Springwood is actually utilized in the movie for once.
[01:17:47] And I love the map says we're fucked.
[01:17:50] That's one of my favorite.
[01:17:51] Yeah.
[01:17:52] One of my favorite scenes.
[01:17:53] The map says we're fucked.
[01:17:54] That is a great line.
[01:17:56] I think that's actually been, hasn't it been sampled in like a few music songs like Grunge Rock or something?
[01:18:01] Okay, so this is the first tie we've had.
[01:18:05] How are we going to split this, guys?
[01:18:08] Freddy's dead.
[01:18:09] I gotta go with Freddy's dead.
[01:18:11] Yeah, Freddy.
[01:18:12] Okay, so Ryan is breaking the tie here.
[01:18:16] Awesome.
[01:18:17] I can't believe it.
[01:18:19] So that was going to help us.
[01:18:21] I thought it was going to be so easy.
[01:18:23] Oh, we're all going to vote for Jason.
[01:18:25] I thought so.
[01:18:26] Because if I see people going.
[01:18:28] If it wasn't the six entry.
[01:18:31] Okay, well, so is everyone going to vote part seven for New Nightmare?
[01:18:36] Oh, New Nightmare.
[01:18:37] New Nightmare.
[01:18:38] It's close.
[01:18:39] Absolutely.
[01:18:40] 100%.
[01:18:40] Freddy, I mean, Jason looks awesome in part seven.
[01:18:43] No, that's because he's fucking getting hotter at this point.
[01:18:46] Oh.
[01:18:47] And here's the moment that you guys all hate me.
[01:18:51] I'm going to vote.
[01:18:53] For the new blood.
[01:18:55] He's voting for the first versus where it was Jason versus Carrie.
[01:19:00] But it wasn't Carrie.
[01:19:01] Thank you.
[01:19:02] I hate you for it.
[01:19:03] Terminator, Jason versus Carrie.
[01:19:05] Okay, yeah.
[01:19:06] This is the final.
[01:19:07] Yeah, no, sorry.
[01:19:07] I can't defend that one.
[01:19:09] This is the final in the original series.
[01:19:10] This is the final two parts against each other.
[01:19:13] Seven versus seven.
[01:19:15] I know.
[01:19:16] And we got New Nightmare, so it's impossible.
[01:19:19] New Nightmare is so good.
[01:19:21] Yeah.
[01:19:21] I'm going to watch New Nightmare recently.
[01:19:24] This is what I'm going to say.
[01:19:25] New Nightmare's reach exceeds its grasp.
[01:19:30] I think that some of the best stuff in the series is in it.
[01:19:36] This is the precursor to Scream.
[01:19:38] Heather Langenkamp is amazing in it.
[01:19:41] And also, finally, at an age where, like, good God.
[01:19:45] Oh, my God.
[01:19:46] Great score.
[01:19:47] It's got a great score.
[01:19:48] But having re-watched it recently, first off, a lot of the performances are so bad because
[01:19:57] the real people are playing themselves and Bob Shea should be fucking ashamed of himself.
[01:20:02] I thought he was fun.
[01:20:04] Yeah.
[01:20:05] Well, how about the fact that the first nightmare, how timely it is, how it's during an L.A.
[01:20:11] earthquake.
[01:20:11] That movie does not hold together as a story.
[01:20:17] It is.
[01:20:17] I disagree.
[01:20:18] It's a scattershot.
[01:20:20] Wow.
[01:20:20] It's a sketch movie.
[01:20:23] What about the John?
[01:20:25] The graphics when she's on the highway does not hold up.
[01:20:28] I will give you a second.
[01:20:29] And the second half of the movie has that great scene where he finally comes back for
[01:20:33] real in the hospital.
[01:20:34] It has that great scene.
[01:20:36] And then the whole rest of it, everything in Freddy's underworld completely falls apart.
[01:20:41] The best scene in the whole movie is when he's pulling through the sheets and she finally,
[01:20:46] I think she says finally Freddy's name and he rips it open.
[01:20:50] That part's great.
[01:20:51] Yes.
[01:20:52] Well, what about the John Saxon moment in the part where he has a line about actors' life
[01:20:57] and stalkers?
[01:20:58] I thought that was spot on.
[01:20:59] I feel like that movie is really smart in its ideas.
[01:21:03] And when you get right down to it and all love to Wes Gruden.
[01:21:06] I'll give you that his head trying to swallow the kids didn't age well, but I think it's
[01:21:12] overall, okay.
[01:21:14] Well, I just feel like that's one of those wink, wink kind of movies.
[01:21:18] How is this not still better than the new blood though?
[01:21:22] I'll take new blood over Freddy.
[01:21:24] There you go.
[01:21:25] Because I have so much fun watching the new blood.
[01:21:28] I would expect this from Oregon.
[01:21:30] Kane, how to ruin Jason.
[01:21:32] I went to the new Bev and I watched the new blood with a bunch of those people in attendance
[01:21:38] too.
[01:21:39] There's a guy out here named Elric Kane who's a podcaster and now he's directing movies.
[01:21:46] Get him on the show.
[01:21:47] Elric said, that was like an episode of the Facts of Life that got interrupted by Jason.
[01:21:53] And he's absolutely right.
[01:21:56] He's absolutely right.
[01:21:57] Oh my word.
[01:21:58] It is a cheesy, stupid TV show from the late 80s that gets interrupted by Jason.
[01:22:03] The dad is good.
[01:22:03] The dad is good.
[01:22:05] Even though that whole scene with him deciding, hey, I'm going to come back to life.
[01:22:10] We get that Bernie's in that movie.
[01:22:12] Yep.
[01:22:13] And it's like, oh, you have to not say you have this power.
[01:22:18] I really have this power.
[01:22:20] But you can't say you have this power.
[01:22:22] But you need this power to kill Jason.
[01:22:25] Okay.
[01:22:26] It's boring.
[01:22:27] Part seven is boring.
[01:22:28] It's boring.
[01:22:29] And then he's like, eh.
[01:22:32] Part seven contains one of the reasons why.
[01:22:35] It's not the worst, but it's still.
[01:22:36] I'm pretty sure.
[01:22:37] Sleeping bag.
[01:22:37] Sleeping bag kill.
[01:22:38] The sleeping bag kill.
[01:22:39] It contains one of the reasons why we love watching slasher movies.
[01:22:44] And I'll tell you why.
[01:22:45] Sleeping bag kill.
[01:22:46] Take this walk with me.
[01:22:48] Tiddy's.
[01:22:49] From her first.
[01:22:50] Mother's death.
[01:22:51] From her first scene.
[01:22:53] Sleeping bag kill.
[01:22:53] From her first scene.
[01:22:56] This rich, bitchy girl.
[01:22:58] From her first line, we hate her.
[01:23:01] And the movie has in every scene, this girl is hateful and horrible.
[01:23:07] And she just, throughout the whole movie, she's such a snot to everybody.
[01:23:11] And she keeps fucking things up.
[01:23:13] And the movie keeps not killing her.
[01:23:15] Until the moment where right before there's anybody left to kill except the two main characters,
[01:23:21] that girl opens the door and gets an axe in the face and thrown into a TV set.
[01:23:26] Oh my god.
[01:23:27] And I would rather take that.
[01:23:30] What?
[01:23:31] And the fun of that.
[01:23:32] But!
[01:23:33] Let me.
[01:23:34] The missed opportunities of New Nightmare.
[01:23:36] Let me ask you this.
[01:23:37] What's more of an impactful scene?
[01:23:39] The girl you hate dying with an axe?
[01:23:42] Or the babysitter that you've grown to kind of like?
[01:23:47] Yes.
[01:23:47] He's dragged apart in the fucking hospital room across the ceiling.
[01:23:52] And freaking Gage from Pet Sematary is watching the whole thing.
[01:23:55] Yeah.
[01:23:56] Girl, you hate getting an axe in the face any day of the week.
[01:24:00] And I'll tell you why.
[01:24:01] The scene in the hospital is just from the first fucking movie again.
[01:24:05] It's similar, yes.
[01:24:06] All of the call and responses.
[01:24:08] All of the call and responses.
[01:24:09] I think that's the point, though.
[01:24:11] I think that was the whole thing.
[01:24:12] It's the point.
[01:24:12] I'm just telling you.
[01:24:13] Okay, Jack.
[01:24:15] I love you.
[01:24:15] But the girl had telekinesis!
[01:24:18] Okay, Jack.
[01:24:19] My god.
[01:24:20] Case!
[01:24:20] Oh my god.
[01:24:21] Fucking closed!
[01:24:22] She had telekinesis!
[01:24:24] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:24:26] Wow.
[01:24:27] Case!
[01:24:28] I'm a coin.
[01:24:28] Fucking closed!
[01:24:30] I will take the cheesy pun of the team part 7 over the doggy.
[01:24:36] So does fucking Freddy!
[01:24:39] He's a demon!
[01:24:41] This is a girl that's just like, I had a bad childhood and I can telekinesis shit.
[01:24:47] Oh, you're right.
[01:24:48] Carrie is a terrible movie.
[01:24:50] That's the movie about a girl with telekinesis, a standalone movie.
[01:24:55] Oh!
[01:24:55] This is a really...
[01:24:56] This is scary, though.
[01:24:58] About a slasher and then all of a sudden it's like, oh!
[01:25:02] Oh, I have an enemy now that I've never known about.
[01:25:06] Zach, what's going on here?
[01:25:08] You know what the whole crux of Friday the 13th is?
[01:25:11] Don't go to Camp Crystal Lake.
[01:25:13] That's it.
[01:25:13] If you don't go to Camp Crystal Lake, you don't die.
[01:25:17] Okay.
[01:25:17] That's it.
[01:25:18] Well, one thing here, Jack.
[01:25:19] Okay, so I will agree to one point.
[01:25:22] Wow.
[01:25:22] And that new nightmare is very boring if you watch it on TV because most of the key moments are cut out so you don't know who died on the movie set.
[01:25:31] But the movie set thing, I think, is still freaky because especially with now where you're seeing even more malfunctions gone wrong that kill someone.
[01:25:39] Anyone else want to break this?
[01:25:41] It's an over-office movie that we give more love than it deserves because we love Wes Craven.
[01:25:45] It's a great movie.
[01:25:46] I'm sorry.
[01:25:47] So, Lucas, where are you going to land on this?
[01:25:49] 100%.
[01:25:49] As much as I do love the new blood, and I'll agree with Jack, the bitch getting the axe in the face is one of the most satisfying kills.
[01:25:58] It's a good gift file.
[01:25:59] I'm not saying it's not as satisfying kill either.
[01:26:02] New Nightmare was just – it was very innovative.
[01:26:06] Wes Craven – like someone else already said it was the precursor to Scream for Wes Craven.
[01:26:11] And it's where he jumped off with the whole meta –
[01:26:14] Break the fourth wall.
[01:26:15] In order to fight him, you've got to make another movie.
[01:26:18] Yeah, exactly.
[01:26:19] Okay.
[01:26:19] Gabriel, Jim, Bill, Mac.
[01:26:22] Yeah.
[01:26:23] New Nightmare.
[01:26:24] I love the dream of the Force Awakens.
[01:26:27] Oh, stop.
[01:26:29] All right.
[01:26:30] Jack, I got nothing but love for you.
[01:26:32] But even the fucking Friday the 13th guy is saying New Nightmare here.
[01:26:38] I watched it recently.
[01:26:40] I just don't think it works.
[01:26:41] Were you awake when you were watching it?
[01:26:43] Oh, my God.
[01:26:45] Did you watch it?
[01:26:45] Jack, I got nothing but love for you.
[01:26:47] You know that.
[01:26:47] Come on.
[01:26:48] It's such an innovative movie that just opened up new barriers to other movies.
[01:26:55] I'll get you, Jack, that they could have fought Freddy a different way.
[01:26:58] No, no.
[01:26:59] They could have filmed him a different way.
[01:27:01] Ryan, you're being Twitter right now.
[01:27:03] You need to stop it.
[01:27:04] I have the respect.
[01:27:04] You're being Twitter.
[01:27:07] Sorry.
[01:27:07] Don't you need to ask?
[01:27:09] No, no.
[01:27:09] I have respect for all of that.
[01:27:12] You're being a Star Wars fan.
[01:27:14] He's being a Star Wars fan.
[01:27:16] You're really going with that.
[01:27:18] All the ideas that you're talking about.
[01:27:20] Like, I really have.
[01:27:22] Also, Wes Craven was a guy who really put his heart into horror movies, and I really love that, too.
[01:27:27] But the last time I watched it, it's not even that I couldn't get into it.
[01:27:31] It's that throughout the entire movie, the mythology felt sloppy in a way where it kept redefining itself in every scene in a way where it didn't lead anywhere for me.
[01:27:40] I feel like it's a scattered shot of ideas rather than a cohesive story in which there are stakes.
[01:27:47] I don't buy half of it because I don't buy the performances.
[01:27:51] The kid, Miko Hughes.
[01:27:52] Miko Hughes sucks.
[01:27:54] Whoa!
[01:27:55] He's awful.
[01:27:55] In that movie.
[01:27:56] I loved him in this.
[01:27:58] Wow.
[01:27:59] I'm a Star Wars fan.
[01:28:00] Okay, so he had annoying lines, but he's good in Mercury.
[01:28:04] But he's on top.
[01:28:05] I actually just referenced this with my friend where he's on top of the thing.
[01:28:08] He's like, I was trying to reach God.
[01:28:10] I just have this hard time with the people acting like themselves in real life in a way that is really convincing when they're being themselves.
[01:28:20] And then as soon as they're in a horror movie, they start to act like people in a horror movie in a way where it's like, I bought Robert Englund out of makeup at the talk show and I love that scene.
[01:28:31] But when he's doing the painting and saying, I'm looking at him saying, it all just feels so wanky to me.
[01:28:39] You know there's a deleted scene about that.
[01:28:41] No, I don't.
[01:28:42] He thought that there was a scene where he had a dream where he was in a spider web or something.
[01:28:48] I don't remember the exact name.
[01:28:50] Where he's in a spider web and Freddy's about to kill him.
[01:28:53] And that's why he disappears.
[01:28:55] Where she can't get in touch with him anymore.
[01:28:57] Because he leaves.
[01:28:59] I think it sucks.
[01:29:01] I feel like the movie probably got its budget cut at some point too.
[01:29:05] Because I really think the effects are halfway there throughout the movie.
[01:29:09] The idea though, when John Saxon starts calling her Heather or Nancy and he's like, wait, hold on Nancy.
[01:29:17] Yeah, yeah.
[01:29:18] When it turns into the movie.
[01:29:20] You enjoy the movie, but what I'm getting is it seems like some of the technical stuff didn't hold up for you.
[01:29:26] It's not even that, Cam.
[01:29:28] It's that it doesn't become a cohesive experience for me.
[01:29:31] It's not my Freddy Krueger.
[01:29:33] He's got five blades.
[01:29:37] Yeah, yeah.
[01:29:37] That's what it is.
[01:29:39] That's what I'm harping on.
[01:29:40] No, no.
[01:29:40] I don't like it anymore.
[01:29:42] It's an offensive.
[01:29:43] It must be canceled.
[01:29:44] I just don't think it works as a movie.
[01:29:46] I'm watching it.
[01:29:46] I did hate it when it first came out because I did not like the five blades.
[01:29:51] And then I go and watch it as it goes and I go, okay, it's a new Freddy.
[01:29:55] I get it.
[01:29:55] Well, it's technically not even Freddy.
[01:29:57] No.
[01:29:58] Right.
[01:29:58] It's whatever that demon is.
[01:30:00] But the whole thing with the glove, this always bothered me.
[01:30:05] The glove in the poster and the glove in the opening scene, that super metal glove, that shit looks awesome.
[01:30:11] And then as soon as it becomes that weird foam latex glove that's twice as big as his hand.
[01:30:17] How about the fact that the reporters are so believable?
[01:30:20] What are so believable?
[01:30:22] The reporters are so believable.
[01:30:24] Often in a movie, it gets broken because you don't believe what the reporters are acting like real reporters.
[01:30:30] I think it's got great scenes in a movie that doesn't work.
[01:30:33] I truly despise the head nurse being like, I'm still being horrible way past the point of any reasonable person.
[01:30:42] But I'm doing it because that's what that character actually driven the plot.
[01:30:47] Actually, what you're saying is that's basically an homage to one flew over the cuckoo's nest.
[01:30:51] Yeah.
[01:30:51] Nurse Ratched.
[01:30:52] But you know what that movie does not have?
[01:30:54] What does it not have?
[01:30:55] It doesn't have a girl with a girl with telekinesis.
[01:30:59] Oh my god!
[01:31:00] A girl with telekinesis!
[01:31:01] Okay, so it sounds like you enjoy the movie.
[01:31:04] What a horrible idea!
[01:31:06] So basically, what I'm getting is we've overrated New Nightmare for you.
[01:31:12] What it really is...
[01:31:13] We can't have a girl with telekinesis.
[01:31:15] Give them the choice.
[01:31:17] It's Saturday night.
[01:31:19] I want to throw in a fun horror flick.
[01:31:20] I don't want to turn into Twitter.
[01:31:23] I'm going to enjoy Friday 7 and the cheesy fun of that more than I'm going to enjoy what I think is the kind of half-baked...
[01:31:36] Innovative?
[01:31:37] Innovative for sure.
[01:31:39] Inspired maybe.
[01:31:40] But I don't think that that movie is...
[01:31:43] I never liked horror.
[01:31:44] I'm just kidding.
[01:31:44] In an effective way.
[01:31:45] Well, New Blood is what you put on...
[01:31:47] New Blood is what you put on if you're doing something and you want to watch a horror movie.
[01:31:51] New Nightmare is what you put on if you want to watch a horror movie.
[01:31:54] That's my opinion.
[01:31:55] I'm not going to speak for anybody here.
[01:31:57] That's just my opinion.
[01:31:58] You could honestly say that the later installments of every popular horror franchise are bad and they're in separate ways.
[01:32:05] And they're good in separate ways.
[01:32:06] I mean, everything past Halloween 1 and every 3 is garbage.
[01:32:10] But that's just another conversation.
[01:32:12] Are we talking about relativism?
[01:32:14] I'm trying to...
[01:32:14] I can tell a telekinesis.
[01:32:17] I don't know.
[01:32:18] So we got to move on, guys.
[01:32:20] Otherwise, it's going to be five more hours.
[01:32:22] So I love this.
[01:32:23] No, it's fine.
[01:32:23] In my case.
[01:32:24] We've all stood.
[01:32:25] We're all sinking on our own ships.
[01:32:27] That's great.
[01:32:27] I love it.
[01:32:28] I'm floating good.
[01:32:29] Fuck you.
[01:32:31] Yeah, you say that now, Jack, on Titanic.
[01:32:35] So...
[01:32:35] Hold me, Rose.
[01:32:36] You guys are going to love this.
[01:32:38] What the hell are we going to do about 8, 9, and 10?
[01:32:40] I will do that for you.
[01:32:42] It's simply coming down.
[01:32:44] Does it rock or does it not?
[01:32:46] Does part 8 in Manhattan.
[01:32:49] I don't have an issue with how he looks as a baby or anything.
[01:32:52] I think it's just keeping interest.
[01:32:54] Unless you're like a completist, you're not really going to seek this one out.
[01:32:58] Three different boy Jasons in this one.
[01:33:00] Three.
[01:33:00] I'm talking about the one in the final end.
[01:33:03] There's swampy boy.
[01:33:03] There's a gray face.
[01:33:05] Okay, so this is why we don't do so bad to turn you into a little boy.
[01:33:11] How do you get from a lake?
[01:33:13] How do you get a boat out from a lake to a waterway that brings you the matter?
[01:33:18] I'm going to say that Carrie...
[01:33:19] It's called...
[01:33:21] It's called a motor.
[01:33:24] A motor?
[01:33:25] You don't want to land?
[01:33:27] All right, so...
[01:33:28] It's called paddles and tugboats.
[01:33:31] Oh my word.
[01:33:31] This is how you do it, Ryan.
[01:33:32] You shoot it in Vancouver.
[01:33:34] Okay, there you go.
[01:33:35] See, but there's a lot of movies and shows in Canada, and Canada plays a part in so many
[01:33:40] of these later movies.
[01:33:41] Anyway, so...
[01:33:43] Bill...
[01:33:43] Fucking maple syrup.
[01:33:45] Stop it, you.
[01:33:47] So, does this movie rock or not?
[01:33:50] Not.
[01:33:51] I think I can sum up how I feel about it.
[01:33:54] If you'll allow me to self-promote for just a moment, I wrote a short story called Terror
[01:34:02] at Blood Lake, which is about a camp killer that's legally distinct from Jason Voorhees.
[01:34:09] Oh my God!
[01:34:11] Cool.
[01:34:12] The concept of the story is that Meathead, the one who's definitely not Jason Voorhees, is
[01:34:19] kind of going through a midlife crisis and wondering if it's still right for him.
[01:34:25] And he's thinking about all of his past adventures, and there's a sentence I put into the story
[01:34:31] where I put, the less said about his trip to Brooklyn, the better.
[01:34:36] Well, so to quote the...
[01:34:38] So, what you're saying is you summed it up with essentially the theme song for the TV
[01:34:44] show The Pretender.
[01:34:45] There are pretenders among us.
[01:34:48] Right.
[01:34:48] I think the best movie...
[01:34:50] There's other Jasons.
[01:34:52] Just like Jason X.
[01:34:53] I think the best thing to come out of that movie is when Kane Hodder went on Arsenio Hall
[01:34:57] as Jason.
[01:34:58] Oh, okay.
[01:34:59] Hey.
[01:35:00] So, bad movies happen.
[01:35:00] I remember that thing that came out of the movie of that Kane Hodder was...
[01:35:03] Oh, no.
[01:35:04] He was in that movie.
[01:35:05] That's right.
[01:35:06] Never mind.
[01:35:06] Right.
[01:35:07] So, there's a lot of good things that come out of bad movies.
[01:35:10] There's great music, soundtracks.
[01:35:11] There's video games.
[01:35:12] Everything.
[01:35:12] So, I take it Parker, Ryan, Lucas, Jack, you're no-go on this one.
[01:35:16] Okay.
[01:35:18] That's all I need.
[01:35:19] Oreo, are you going to be the only dissenting vote?
[01:35:23] I'm going to go with Freddy.
[01:35:25] There was no Freddy movie.
[01:35:26] There's no Freddy part eight, and you know that.
[01:35:28] What?
[01:35:29] There's no part eight for Freddy?
[01:35:31] Oh, my God.
[01:35:31] You haven't even seen this one.
[01:35:32] No, I'm serious.
[01:35:33] I didn't know how many installments of Freddy there were.
[01:35:36] I mean, if you want to count Freddy versus Jason, that's eight.
[01:35:40] Okay.
[01:35:40] So, again, the versus one we're going to count is two separate ones.
[01:35:43] If it's a good Freddy or a good Jason, and if it's a good or bad movie.
[01:35:47] That's fair.
[01:35:47] I'm sorry.
[01:35:47] So, I don't want to go to nightmares at this point.
[01:35:51] All right.
[01:35:52] So, I'd like to add real quick because nobody's mentioned it yet, and I will say this about
[01:35:57] Jason takes Manhattan.
[01:36:00] Jason, the worst final girl ever.
[01:36:04] Oh, which one?
[01:36:04] Kelly who or the other gal?
[01:36:07] I don't remember the actress's name, but the character's name is Rennie.
[01:36:10] She is.
[01:36:11] Okay, yeah.
[01:36:11] Kelly's the one who gets strangled on the book.
[01:36:13] Yeah, yeah.
[01:36:14] And here's the question I have about that movie, and I agree with you 100%.
[01:36:19] He walks by the punks.
[01:36:21] He kicks their boombox, which if you're younger folks.
[01:36:23] Somebody had to do it.
[01:36:25] Yeah, if you're younger folks, that's a big stereo with two speakers that you put a cassette
[01:36:29] tape in.
[01:36:30] Yeah.
[01:36:31] And they go, yo, bro.
[01:36:32] And they get their little fucking switchblade knife, and he just turns around and flips
[01:36:36] his mask up, and they go, never mind.
[01:36:39] This is not Jason.
[01:36:40] He's supposed to kill them.
[01:36:42] Oh, my God.
[01:36:42] And apparently, according to Kane Hodder, in this movie, they said, you should do this.
[01:36:47] He goes, no, Jason wouldn't do that.
[01:36:49] It's like, fuck you, Kane Hodder.
[01:36:52] Fuck you.
[01:36:54] You are so traumatized.
[01:36:56] I hate Kane Hodder.
[01:36:57] I hate Kane Hodder.
[01:36:58] Spock did the Vulcan nerve pinch in that, right?
[01:37:01] Because we're doing punks with blue box stereotypes.
[01:37:04] Yeah, there you go.
[01:37:05] That kept it from happening.
[01:37:07] Jim, Gabriel, Mac, sound on.
[01:37:10] It does not.
[01:37:11] It does not rock.
[01:37:13] It doesn't work for me, brother.
[01:37:15] Brother?
[01:37:16] This is what it needed.
[01:37:17] It needs some wrestlers.
[01:37:18] Brother.
[01:37:19] It doesn't work for me, brother.
[01:37:20] So that's a hell no from everyone, save for Oreo with a not applicable.
[01:37:26] Sorry.
[01:37:26] I haven't seen it.
[01:37:28] Who's the one that hasn't seen it?
[01:37:29] Oreo hasn't seen it?
[01:37:30] No, I haven't.
[01:37:31] Nope, I haven't seen it.
[01:37:32] You had one job.
[01:37:33] Anyway.
[01:37:34] Let's go to hell.
[01:37:35] Yep.
[01:37:35] Let's fucking go to hell.
[01:37:37] Does it rock?
[01:37:38] No.
[01:37:39] No.
[01:37:39] No.
[01:37:40] Okay, hold on one at a time.
[01:37:43] I'm a worm.
[01:37:44] I go in your mouth.
[01:37:45] I go in your vagina.
[01:37:46] I go wherever I want.
[01:37:49] And then he pulls my mask down.
[01:37:51] So that's cool.
[01:37:52] And Jason is not a deadite.
[01:37:55] No.
[01:37:56] Oh, yeah.
[01:37:56] That's true.
[01:37:57] They do have the fucking Book of the Dead in that.
[01:37:59] I mean, even if he's not a deadite, it's still the evil dead verse.
[01:38:02] Okay, so one attack.
[01:38:03] Who's that terrific actor who plays Creighton Duke?
[01:38:05] Who's the...
[01:38:06] He was on 21st Street.
[01:38:08] Yeah, Stephen Williams.
[01:38:09] Yeah.
[01:38:10] He's great.
[01:38:11] Yeah.
[01:38:11] Everything else about that movie sucks.
[01:38:13] Okay, so everybody is pretty much saying no?
[01:38:17] Or...
[01:38:17] No.
[01:38:17] Yes.
[01:38:18] Okay, so Lucas and I like this as a hidden type movie.
[01:38:22] Everyone else is going...
[01:38:23] Who else is going to?
[01:38:23] It's not even fun to watch.
[01:38:25] I had fun.
[01:38:26] Anyway, so...
[01:38:27] Jesus.
[01:38:28] It's trash.
[01:38:29] It's a B movie.
[01:38:29] What do you expect?
[01:38:30] Anyway, so who else said yes?
[01:38:32] Yes.
[01:38:32] Yes, I'll take it.
[01:38:33] Fuck it.
[01:38:35] And you have actually seen it?
[01:38:37] Nope, I haven't seen it.
[01:38:38] Oh my God.
[01:38:39] You know that doesn't work this way.
[01:38:40] I don't care.
[01:38:41] Fuck it.
[01:38:42] No.
[01:38:43] I'm the one talking the votes.
[01:38:45] Okay, guys.
[01:38:47] Nice.
[01:38:47] Let's go to space.
[01:38:49] Who else said yes?
[01:38:50] I said yes.
[01:38:51] Okay, Parker.
[01:38:53] Oh, Jim.
[01:38:54] Oh, hell no.
[01:38:54] Oh, who said yes?
[01:38:56] I did.
[01:38:57] Okay, yes.
[01:38:58] Lucas said yes.
[01:38:59] Jim said yes.
[01:39:00] Are we on Jason X or are we still on nine?
[01:39:02] On Goes to Hell.
[01:39:03] We'll go...
[01:39:04] Goes to Hell.
[01:39:04] Okay.
[01:39:05] Jason X is the best board he's film ever.
[01:39:07] Oh my God.
[01:39:08] One at a time.
[01:39:09] So Jim said yes.
[01:39:11] Yes.
[01:39:11] Lucas said yes.
[01:39:12] If Jason Goes to Hell had been made without being a Jason film, it would have been a hit.
[01:39:20] Again, it's a fun body snatchers, the hidden type movie.
[01:39:23] Okay.
[01:39:23] The whole fact that he's a demon that goes from body to body, it's...
[01:39:27] It's fun.
[01:39:28] It's stupid, but it's fun.
[01:39:30] Okay, so...
[01:39:32] Either way, it was all in vain.
[01:39:35] It's still...
[01:39:35] There's too many defecting notes.
[01:39:37] So let's go to Jason Egg.
[01:39:40] He does Jason Egg.
[01:39:41] We went from a Cronenberg ripoff to a movie that has Cronenberg in it.
[01:39:46] Because it was directed by his protege.
[01:39:48] And it ties in the Nightbreed.
[01:39:51] And it's based on a mad TV sketch.
[01:39:54] You're right.
[01:39:55] We're going to go to hell.
[01:39:58] Okay, so...
[01:39:59] You didn't like this one, Oreo?
[01:40:00] I loved it.
[01:40:01] I liked this one.
[01:40:02] It had a two and a half out of five stars.
[01:40:04] How did you like this?
[01:40:06] Because there's so much about it.
[01:40:08] Like, if you look at the time frame that came out...
[01:40:10] Okay.
[01:40:11] And what came out around it.
[01:40:12] I'm just confused by your letterbox.
[01:40:13] Okay.
[01:40:13] Yeah, just go by my letterbox.
[01:40:15] It's easy.
[01:40:15] Did you actually see this one?
[01:40:17] Or...
[01:40:17] Yeah, I did.
[01:40:17] I watched it a few times.
[01:40:19] I'm confused by letterbox in general.
[01:40:21] So...
[01:40:22] Yes.
[01:40:22] I think we're confused by Jason X in general.
[01:40:24] Okay, so again...
[01:40:25] Yes.
[01:40:25] Even if you don't think it's a good movie, were you entertained by it?
[01:40:28] Okay, cool.
[01:40:28] Yeah, definitely.
[01:40:30] Jack, what are you thinking about this Terminator?
[01:40:33] Aliens in space.
[01:40:33] All right, yeah.
[01:40:35] So...
[01:40:35] I love this movie.
[01:40:37] I know that it's more fun as a species type movie.
[01:40:39] But whatever.
[01:40:40] You know, you get what you paid for.
[01:40:41] Every Friday the 13th movie has a weird doppelganger.
[01:40:44] And I feel like Jason X is the call and response with Jason Lives.
[01:40:50] So it's like six and X.
[01:40:52] And I feel like...
[01:40:53] Yeah.
[01:40:54] Great music score.
[01:40:56] It's so funny how there's some references even to Solaris.
[01:41:01] They call their guns BFGs after Doom.
[01:41:04] It's basically Leprechaun 4 and Star Trek on steroids.
[01:41:07] The Microsoft conflict line.
[01:41:10] There's the one gentleman who would go on to be in Dead Space.
[01:41:12] I can't think of a gentleman's shame vibe.
[01:41:14] There was a guy in there.
[01:41:16] Andromeda.
[01:41:17] From Andromeda is on here.
[01:41:18] There's...
[01:41:19] It's shameless junk food.
[01:41:20] But you gotta admit, the Microsoft conflict line.
[01:41:24] That is up there with the Burger King Taco Bell franchise war and demolition, man.
[01:41:28] And...
[01:41:28] Good talking about the show too.
[01:41:30] Right.
[01:41:32] 2254.
[01:41:33] If they had not spoiled Uber Jason in all the advertising, that would have been so great.
[01:41:39] Yeah.
[01:41:39] I don't even remember.
[01:41:40] Oh, man.
[01:41:41] I would see it on TV Guide.
[01:41:43] I was freaked out.
[01:41:43] I'm like, hey, this might be the worst rated movie of all time, but it's one of the highest
[01:41:47] rentals this year.
[01:41:47] I got it.
[01:41:48] This is morbid curiosity.
[01:41:50] It's actually fun seeing it on sci-fi.
[01:41:52] Yeah.
[01:41:53] I got some head continuity to lay on you guys.
[01:41:58] Now...
[01:41:58] Tell which girl comes back.
[01:42:00] Jason gets drowned in toxic waste in Manhattan and dissolves or something.
[01:42:08] And this is my theory.
[01:42:10] Okay.
[01:42:12] Him as a little boy at the very end of eight.
[01:42:14] And then all of Jason goes to hell and Jason X are just the hell hallucinations he's having.
[01:42:23] In between the end of takes Manhattan.
[01:42:26] No, no, no.
[01:42:27] I'm getting a Freddy versus Jason.
[01:42:28] The sci-fi guy you are.
[01:42:28] Those are mere universes.
[01:42:30] No.
[01:42:31] But guess.
[01:42:32] He's a better twist.
[01:42:33] In the same way that Freddy versus Jason...
[01:42:34] Those were nightmares Freddy inflicted on him.
[01:42:36] Okay.
[01:42:37] In the same way that Freddy versus Jason opens with that sequence where Jason thinks he's stalking a girl in Crystal Lake.
[01:42:42] I think when you're in hell, you have these weird hell dreams.
[01:42:46] Oh, okay.
[01:42:46] Why would Freddy bring his mask down to hell?
[01:42:50] Because he's really the toxic Avenger.
[01:42:54] I know you guys hate that he's called a deadite, but aren't deadites and zombies the same thing?
[01:42:58] Demons?
[01:42:59] He's not a deadite, though.
[01:43:00] Pandarian demons are not zombies.
[01:43:01] You either have to say there's no continuity like the Godzilla movies from the Millennium, or the continuity is we're watching the death fever dream of Jason in parts nine and ten.
[01:43:13] Oh, well, that's a good contrast.
[01:43:15] He basically is Godzilla here.
[01:43:17] Or from seven on.
[01:43:19] All right.
[01:43:20] Like, you know, he comes back in six, he gets killed, then it's like everything from there on.
[01:43:26] And he deaths of Jason.
[01:43:28] All right, so Bill...
[01:43:29] Oh, but that's why, Ryan.
[01:43:30] And that's why, because he dies in Manhattan, not Crystal Lake.
[01:43:34] Wait, what?
[01:43:35] That's the first time he hasn't been able to just come back the way he usually does.
[01:43:40] But Freddy invites him to hell in nine.
[01:43:41] But in this one, he needs Freddy to bring him back because he died in New York.
[01:43:45] Why don't we just agree that he just left Crystal Lake in part six?
[01:43:49] Anyway, no, I love it.
[01:43:52] I like how we're trying to resolve it, but that's the problem.
[01:43:54] We can't.
[01:43:55] It's just kind of like trying to make sense of Tommy Wiseau's The Room.
[01:43:58] It doesn't want to be solved.
[01:43:59] I love that movie.
[01:44:00] It's a David Lynch movie we won't solve.
[01:44:02] You know what?
[01:44:03] And you're tearing me apart.
[01:44:04] You're tearing me apart!
[01:44:06] So, Bill, what did you think of this?
[01:44:09] I'll say it rocks.
[01:44:11] Unlike Manhattan, it at least delivers on its promise to say that Jason doesn't go to space.
[01:44:18] He joking goes to space.
[01:44:19] Mac?
[01:44:20] I love this movie.
[01:44:22] I love it, too!
[01:44:23] Oh, yeah!
[01:44:26] Gabe, what are you thinking, buddy?
[01:44:30] It rocks, yeah.
[01:44:31] It's pretty cool.
[01:44:35] All right.
[01:44:36] Ryan, Parker, is that...
[01:44:39] It's a popcorn movie.
[01:44:41] It's a...
[01:44:42] You put it on, you watch it, you have a good time, you watch your girl's face get frozen
[01:44:46] in...
[01:44:46] Oh, man.
[01:44:48] ...progenics.
[01:44:49] People with cryogenics, whatever, and then she gets smashed.
[01:44:51] It's a movie...
[01:44:52] I don't love it, but I'm not going to turn it off if it's on.
[01:44:55] It's like self-aware of its dumbness and how the corporation guy gets killed.
[01:45:00] It's a fun movie because it's so...
[01:45:04] It's so watchable, despite everyone doing dumb things.
[01:45:06] Yeah.
[01:45:06] And the fact that the kid is fucking a robot...
[01:45:10] Yeah.
[01:45:10] ...that they don't even really kind of...
[01:45:13] She was such a badass.
[01:45:15] He's talking like...
[01:45:15] Yeah, they reference that he's doing her, but it's like, dude, the guy's fucking a robot.
[01:45:21] So it's like Westworld, yeah.
[01:45:23] Yeah.
[01:45:24] I'll give it a thumbs up just because it's a fun movie to watch.
[01:45:27] And there's no kinetic girl in Deezing.
[01:45:29] I mean, to be fair, Jason was basically the Terminator in 6 and 7.
[01:45:34] Yeah.
[01:45:35] All right, so Jim, what are you thinking?
[01:45:37] Oh, yeah, it rocks.
[01:45:38] Okay.
[01:45:39] I mean, technically, Jason is the Terminator in his whole universe.
[01:45:43] Right, that's what I'm saying, since part 6.
[01:45:46] Well, no, like everything.
[01:45:47] Because he tried to kill him and kill him, and he kept coming back and coming back.
[01:45:50] Just like Michael Myers.
[01:45:52] All right.
[01:45:52] Well, there you go.
[01:45:55] But he's more Terminator than Myers at this point.
[01:45:57] Yeah.
[01:45:58] Lucas, what are you thinking, buddy?
[01:45:59] There's only just one scene where Jason, before he kills someone, just goes, hasta la vista, baby.
[01:46:06] He speaks.
[01:46:08] All right.
[01:46:08] Lucas, what are you thinking?
[01:46:10] This movie fucking rocks.
[01:46:11] I love it.
[01:46:13] I fucking love it.
[01:46:14] I saw it four times in the theaters, and I can't even tell you how many times I've seen it since then.
[01:46:18] I've probably seen it the most of all of them, except for part 6.
[01:46:21] Well, much like Elm Street 6, you'd be surprised at what people who I think would love this really didn't enjoy it, and vice versa.
[01:46:28] People who like it are like the last people I expect.
[01:46:31] I don't know why it's so cryptic.
[01:46:34] This is Friday the 13th, for God's sake.
[01:46:36] There's a lot of it that's silly, but at the same point, Jason's like a T-Rex in this.
[01:46:43] He's just a badass.
[01:46:45] He has some really cool kills.
[01:46:47] I love it, but it's not trying to be.
[01:46:48] It's okay.
[01:46:49] Yeah, exactly.
[01:46:52] Exactly.
[01:46:53] It's like a sci-fi channel original movie that's so underrated.
[01:46:56] It's so funny because it was on there a lot, and it's always so funny what violence would get through and which ones they would cut out.
[01:47:02] They smashed him, but you didn't see the after cuts.
[01:47:06] Oh.
[01:47:08] Alrighty, so we're at the Versus movie.
[01:47:11] Oh, boy.
[01:47:12] It was going to be fun splitting it up.
[01:47:14] Okay, so.
[01:47:15] I like that movie.
[01:47:16] I wish the deleted scenes had been left in.
[01:47:19] I agree wholeheartedly.
[01:47:24] She should have shown her tits, too.
[01:47:27] It did, but the soundtrack is awesome.
[01:47:29] Obviously, some of Kelly Rowland's disses at the end aren't so PC in today's world.
[01:47:34] Oh, I have a story about that shit, actually.
[01:47:37] My friend did not like her at all because there was an interracial kiss and he was racist, and I'm like, dude, who fucking cares?
[01:47:46] Like, continue to play a girl and fucking deal, dude.
[01:47:49] It's such a fast-paced Versus movie.
[01:47:51] I see some people who hate it based on who actually won.
[01:47:54] I'm like, that's not how Versus movies work.
[01:47:56] Nobody knows who won.
[01:47:57] It's a Freddy movie.
[01:47:59] Right.
[01:47:59] It's in good ways.
[01:48:00] Jason's just there.
[01:48:01] He doesn't do a lot.
[01:48:03] Can I just say one thing?
[01:48:04] It's more of a nightmare movie.
[01:48:05] My friend despises this movie for one...
[01:48:09] Now, I love this movie.
[01:48:10] I've seen it 15 times in the theater.
[01:48:12] Nice.
[01:48:12] I love this movie.
[01:48:13] My friend despises it for one reason.
[01:48:15] It's so irrational.
[01:48:16] My co-host, Vinny, because in the trailer...
[01:48:19] Not your cousin?
[01:48:22] Sorry.
[01:48:23] He despises it for one reason.
[01:48:25] It's in the trailer.
[01:48:28] Monica Kreen...
[01:48:29] Monica Kena, yeah.
[01:48:30] Kena, who I'm friends with on Facebook and Instagram.
[01:48:33] She's so cool.
[01:48:33] She's so hot and she's so cool.
[01:48:35] But in the trailer, she has a line that's not in the movie.
[01:48:40] That way, she goes, Freddy vs. Jason, take your bets.
[01:48:43] And my friend despises this movie because of that line.
[01:48:48] That's not even the fucking movie.
[01:48:50] It's a trailer.
[01:48:51] It's like basing Deadpool off the trailer.
[01:48:53] If I text my co-host right now and say, do you like Freddy vs. Jason?
[01:48:57] He goes, Freddy vs. Jason, take your bets.
[01:48:58] Fuck you.
[01:48:59] That would be the response.
[01:49:01] Wow.
[01:49:02] Sure, man.
[01:49:02] And he likes the movie because we saw it about four or five times together.
[01:49:07] But he hates that line.
[01:49:09] Oh, for God's sakes.
[01:49:10] Okay, so since you're on the spot right here, is it a good Friday the 13th movie or a good Elm Street movie?
[01:49:18] Me?
[01:49:19] Yes, Ryan.
[01:49:20] Friday the 13th movie.
[01:49:21] Excuse me.
[01:49:22] Nightmare on Elm Street movie.
[01:49:23] Okay, so it's a good Freddy movie.
[01:49:24] Okay, perfect.
[01:49:25] Yes.
[01:49:26] And is it a good movie?
[01:49:27] It's a fantastic movie.
[01:49:29] I fucking love it.
[01:49:30] It's top three of my favorite Freddy movies.
[01:49:32] Straightforward approach.
[01:49:33] Good score.
[01:49:33] Okay.
[01:49:34] Lucas, you thought it was a good Jason movie?
[01:49:36] And is it good or bad?
[01:49:37] No, I'm on the Nightmare.
[01:49:39] It's a Nightmare movie.
[01:49:40] Okay, I heard someone say no.
[01:49:42] All right.
[01:49:43] And it rolls.
[01:49:44] Okay, cool.
[01:49:45] I can't blame it.
[01:49:46] I know some people hate the Rock score, but hey, that was just how every movie was back then.
[01:49:50] Yeah, definitely.
[01:49:52] Do you know the – so I'm sorry to interrupt if I'm cutting anybody off.
[01:49:56] It's fine.
[01:49:57] Do you know what two of the original scripts actually were for this movie?
[01:50:02] Hellraiser versus them and then there was that.
[01:50:03] No, there was one that was – Freddy was a camp counselor or a janitor at Camp Crystal Lake.
[01:50:11] Oh, I love that.
[01:50:12] He molested Jason.
[01:50:13] Molested Jason.
[01:50:14] And then Jason's actual thing is that he's coming back for Freddy.
[01:50:19] Oh, wow.
[01:50:19] And then the other thing is the original script for Freddy's Dead or Freddy's 7 it might have been was Peter Jackson.
[01:50:28] Yeah, he's a big boy.
[01:50:29] Where Freddy weakened and everybody had to come – we're fucking with him in his dreams and somebody accidentally dies and then Freddy starts getting power because people start talking about him again.
[01:50:40] So they incorporated that into this script.
[01:50:43] Oh, you should have gotten a special thanks.
[01:50:45] I believe that's an alternate universe part six.
[01:50:48] It might have been – it was six or they're going to do a seven where that was the same thing.
[01:50:53] It was one of the –
[01:50:53] Well, to your point, since they did the – since the guy who greenlit it at New Line did –
[01:50:59] oversaw the comic book with Ash crossover, they should have – they should adapt that unused idea.
[01:51:04] Yeah, it was supposed to be like –
[01:51:06] To do a comic.
[01:51:07] Jack, you might have been right.
[01:51:08] It might have been six where it was like he had no power and people were going – like literally taking sleeping pills to go into the dreams to fuck with Freddy.
[01:51:17] Oh, man.
[01:51:17] And then when somebody actually died, he started getting power because they started talking about him.
[01:51:22] So they incorporated that storyline into Freddy vs. Jason, which I fucking loved.
[01:51:28] Well, and to be fair, I think the reason this works so well as a versus movie, you don't have to have seen either.
[01:51:33] Like they fill in the gaps with Jason's mom complaining at him and his visions.
[01:51:38] Okay, but –
[01:51:39] Because like look at all the different crossovers that happen in comics.
[01:51:43] For instance, AVP vs. Terminator.
[01:51:45] It works as a comic.
[01:51:46] I don't think it would have worked as a movie, for instance, even though I would love to have seen them fight on screen.
[01:51:50] So my buddy went to the theater with his young nephew around the time that we was coming out.
[01:51:58] And a trailer for Freddy vs. Jason came up and the nephew is like staring at the trailer the whole time.
[01:52:03] He wants to see it.
[01:52:04] And then the title comes up at the end and his nephew is like maybe nine.
[01:52:08] And the title comes up at the end and the kid bursts out laughing.
[01:52:12] And my friend Chris looks at him and says, what is so funny?
[01:52:15] And his nephew says, Freddy vs. Jason, I guess Dave vs. Steve was taken.
[01:52:22] Oh.
[01:52:23] So for this kid with no frame of reference, a horror movie called Freddy vs. Jason?
[01:52:30] It just completely went over his head.
[01:52:33] It's funny because after Jason Goes to Hell comes out with the glove, I went online and, you know, internet was new at the time.
[01:52:42] Oh my goodness.
[01:52:44] And I read every fucking script.
[01:52:49] Everything that got laid.
[01:52:50] Everything they had on it.
[01:52:51] Every storyline they had.
[01:52:53] And I was so obsessed with it.
[01:52:56] I was like, because Freddy's my favorite.
[01:52:58] And I'm just like, I'm obsessed with it.
[01:53:00] I need to know.
[01:53:03] Fun fact.
[01:53:04] I was taking an SAT one time.
[01:53:06] And people were sneaking that in on their computer.
[01:53:10] On their laptop.
[01:53:11] And I was like, are we allowed to be watching our movies here?
[01:53:14] The teachers were like, I don't care.
[01:53:15] You can't hear anything.
[01:53:16] I remember the movie came out August, I want to say, 15th of 2004?
[01:53:24] Oh, free.
[01:53:25] Yeah.
[01:53:25] So, I mean.
[01:53:25] Free?
[01:53:26] Whatever it was.
[01:53:27] But then it started all the versus movies.
[01:53:28] Yeah.
[01:53:29] Like Bo versus Python.
[01:53:32] Amongst others.
[01:53:34] Frog versus Supergator.
[01:53:35] Yeah.
[01:53:35] And I went on a cruise.
[01:53:36] And I'm like, I need to make sure I'm back to see this movie in the theater.
[01:53:41] I went to Secaucus theaters in Secaucus, New Jersey.
[01:53:46] Like 10 a.m.
[01:53:48] To see this movie.
[01:53:49] And then I went back the next day.
[01:53:51] And I saw it 15 times in the theater.
[01:53:54] I was so fucking happy with how this movie came out.
[01:53:58] And I didn't care if Jason won or Freddy won.
[01:54:00] I just loved the movie because I think they did so much justice to both franchises.
[01:54:08] I'm glad you're saying that.
[01:54:09] My friend's back there.
[01:54:10] There's a poster.
[01:54:11] It's one of.
[01:54:12] It's top three.
[01:54:13] I'm glad you're saying that because I knew a snob on a podcast who I unfortunately used
[01:54:17] to work with.
[01:54:17] And she hated this.
[01:54:19] She thought it was a terrible Freddy movie.
[01:54:21] Well, she's a fucking dumb cunt then.
[01:54:23] I'm sorry.
[01:54:23] Well, you are accurate.
[01:54:25] She is a hypocrite who talks shit about people and then does the same thing.
[01:54:30] But it was one of those.
[01:54:31] I'm like, you're really thinking this is a bad Freddy movie?
[01:54:33] I mean, he is chewing the scenery in this.
[01:54:35] Yes, Jason has some cool fights.
[01:54:36] It's a cool action movie also.
[01:54:38] But it's like.
[01:54:39] It's a blend.
[01:54:40] It's so much about his mythology too.
[01:54:42] When he can't kill the guy in the street and he goes, not strong enough yet.
[01:54:47] It's like, dude, you know, like he hires quote unquote Jason to kill people.
[01:54:53] So people know about Freddy.
[01:54:56] Yeah.
[01:54:57] It's like.
[01:54:58] It's an ego.
[01:54:59] It's like a celebrity playing tricks on another unethical celebrity.
[01:55:02] You know, it's.
[01:55:03] It's a Tom Cruise movie.
[01:55:06] It's a Scientology recruitment.
[01:55:08] There you go.
[01:55:09] Freddy invades Tom Cruise.
[01:55:11] OK, so Jack and Lucas and Ryan, they're saying good Elm Street movie and good movie.
[01:55:18] Is that where we're going?
[01:55:19] Oh, I haven't spoken up yet.
[01:55:21] I thought you did.
[01:55:22] OK, go.
[01:55:23] But I do have to.
[01:55:24] Go, go, go.
[01:55:25] You know, not to start another fight with Ryan.
[01:55:28] No, no, no fights.
[01:55:29] No fights.
[01:55:29] We're all friends here.
[01:55:31] We're all friends.
[01:55:32] I'm on the fence about the movie overall.
[01:55:35] And I think it's.
[01:55:37] Don't give me what.
[01:55:38] No, I'm sorry.
[01:55:39] Oh my God.
[01:55:41] I think it's a better nightmare movie than a than a Friday the 13th movie.
[01:55:45] If we're voting.
[01:55:45] Well, I said to the the atmosphere of it and all that stuff.
[01:55:49] But I but I kind of feel like Freddy's underserved by it a little bit.
[01:55:52] But when I watch it, I'm frustrated at how few kills he gets.
[01:55:57] And one, you know, I mean, I mean, no, but I love Robert Englund's performance as Freddy and this one in particular.
[01:56:06] He is such relish and gusto without ever becoming the Don Rickles, you know, the fact that they tried to blend both universes and how what a nightmare that was behind the scenes.
[01:56:16] Trying to.
[01:56:16] No pun.
[01:56:18] The fact that he only has one kills.
[01:56:19] It actually they build the lore of Freddy.
[01:56:23] Yeah.
[01:56:24] So well, but they do it with Jason killing people.
[01:56:28] No, no.
[01:56:28] I listen.
[01:56:29] And that central conceit is is pretty interesting to me.
[01:56:32] Also, that idea of Freddy is puppet master to Jason.
[01:56:35] That feels right.
[01:56:36] He's the smart one.
[01:56:37] And then the idea that Jason is the Frankenstein's monster who tries to kill the creator, basically.
[01:56:42] Like, well, the fact that there's a bunch of shit to like about the movie and the characters are running while they're talking, you know, seeing them die.
[01:56:51] There's one flaw in the movie.
[01:56:53] One flaw.
[01:56:55] Jason's scared of water.
[01:56:58] That's the only flaw in the whole entire movie, because.
[01:57:02] OK, now that I can answer for you.
[01:57:03] He was playing too much Grand Theft Auto.
[01:57:07] For those that don't know, the characters can't swim in water until recent updates and sequels.
[01:57:11] Sorry, I actually don't know the reason why.
[01:57:13] I think to be fair, he's traumatized from drowning all these years.
[01:57:16] Yeah, but there's other scenes where Jason's in water.
[01:57:19] I know.
[01:57:20] Lives in the water, basically.
[01:57:21] I know.
[01:57:21] So that's the only flaw in a perfect movie.
[01:57:27] It's like in a Godzilla movie, how he's susceptible to this and then in another movie, oh, that has no impact on me.
[01:57:33] If we're voting for if this is a better nightmare movie or this is a better Friday movie, I'd say nightmare movie for sure.
[01:57:39] All right.
[01:57:39] Put my vote in that column.
[01:57:40] But is it a good movie?
[01:57:42] It's great.
[01:57:43] I don't know.
[01:57:43] Like, it's kind of.
[01:57:44] All right.
[01:57:46] I'm answering for Jack.
[01:57:47] It's a great movie.
[01:57:48] In a weird way, it feels kind of like a cover concert where it's like you're just going through a lot of the beats of the previous movies, but through the filter of that era's horror movie.
[01:58:00] Like, I like the production design.
[01:58:02] I kind of don't like the cinematography.
[01:58:04] It's just there's a bunch of dark at times.
[01:58:06] But I'd rather go back and watch the vintage stuff than watch Ray versus Jason.
[01:58:10] All right.
[01:58:11] So good Elm Street movie.
[01:58:13] Disappointing movie.
[01:58:13] All right.
[01:58:15] Parker.
[01:58:16] It's a good Elm Street movie because Jason.
[01:58:19] Jason kills a lot of people, but he doesn't.
[01:58:21] I mean, that's kind of not the focus.
[01:58:23] And yeah, it's when Freddie's in it.
[01:58:25] He needs to be kind of Freddie's using him as like a, you know, as a pawn.
[01:58:30] So it's a better it's a better Elm Street.
[01:58:31] Jason X was a better recent Jason.
[01:58:33] Yeah.
[01:58:34] Yeah.
[01:58:36] But it's a good movie.
[01:58:37] I've always enjoyed watching this movie.
[01:58:39] It's not great, but it's good.
[01:58:42] It's entertaining.
[01:58:42] It's fun.
[01:58:43] It didn't try to do anything.
[01:58:44] I mean, it's by the director of Brighter Chucky.
[01:58:46] It definitely shows its age.
[01:58:50] So, yeah, but it's still a good time.
[01:58:52] I saw an interview with the director.
[01:58:56] Ronnie.
[01:58:57] Yes.
[01:58:58] Yeah.
[01:58:58] Ronnie.
[01:58:59] Ronnie.
[01:58:59] Ronnie.
[01:58:59] Yep.
[01:59:01] I don't want confused with P.
[01:59:02] You.
[01:59:03] Yeah.
[01:59:03] He said, I don't want gallons of blood.
[01:59:06] I want buckets of blood.
[01:59:09] I was like, all right.
[01:59:10] There's a reason Sam Ray.
[01:59:12] I was like, all right.
[01:59:13] Green lighting this.
[01:59:13] Yeah.
[01:59:15] All right.
[01:59:16] So Oreo.
[01:59:19] It's a good movie, but it feels more.
[01:59:25] I mean, it's more of a nightmare film because he's brought Jason.
[01:59:30] He's doing the nightmares on Jason.
[01:59:31] Yeah.
[01:59:32] Yeah.
[01:59:32] For real.
[01:59:33] Like that's what makes this unique.
[01:59:34] I got to also hand it to him.
[01:59:36] It never stops being fun.
[01:59:38] And this has dramatic material.
[01:59:40] You know, it never gets to that point where you're like, oh, it's okay.
[01:59:42] But, you know, it was never, it was never the overhype movie.
[01:59:46] And it was never, oh, this is just too much grim fun.
[01:59:49] You know, it was like.
[01:59:50] And there's a lot of callbacks in it with the hypnosil and all.
[01:59:54] Is that the same actress who played his mother in the original Friday?
[01:59:58] No.
[01:59:59] That wasn't.
[01:59:59] Nancy Palmer.
[02:00:00] No.
[02:00:01] It is.
[02:00:01] Okay.
[02:00:02] No.
[02:00:02] I'm just wondering.
[02:00:03] She was dead by this time.
[02:00:04] Yeah.
[02:00:05] Yeah.
[02:00:05] The callbacks with the hypnosil and the asylum and all that.
[02:00:10] Like, I loved all that.
[02:00:11] Yeah.
[02:00:12] And we don't have any outside law enforcement.
[02:00:15] It's just these teens and they're learning.
[02:00:17] And they're not worried about fucking.
[02:00:19] They're worried about surviving.
[02:00:21] We're not whoring now.
[02:00:22] We're going to fight for our lives.
[02:00:23] We want to learn about this evil.
[02:00:24] And you get that fun Freddy with the, you know, the stoner kid.
[02:00:29] And he turns into a.
[02:00:30] Yes.
[02:00:30] So you get the fun elements of Freddy.
[02:00:32] But you get the scary parts of Jason.
[02:00:34] So I, in my opinion.
[02:00:36] Anybody please disagree with me.
[02:00:38] I just feel like.
[02:00:40] Oh my word.
[02:00:41] You get the best elements of both franchises.
[02:00:45] Because you get the scary Jason.
[02:00:47] Oh, that's why I had to.
[02:00:48] Scary Freddy.
[02:00:50] This is what determined.
[02:00:51] I just remember one.
[02:00:53] The one Jason thing.
[02:00:54] I love.
[02:00:55] Jason on fire in that fucking cornfield.
[02:00:57] Oh my God.
[02:00:59] Come on.
[02:01:00] Corn poke.
[02:01:01] And they fucking.
[02:01:02] Well.
[02:01:03] And kudos to the.
[02:01:04] This did get nominated for a tourist world stunt award.
[02:01:07] Especially for the guy playing.
[02:01:08] Uh.
[02:01:08] Freddy.
[02:01:09] When he's.
[02:01:09] Fucking his fire stunt.
[02:01:12] So.
[02:01:13] That was what I mainly remembered.
[02:01:14] All these times.
[02:01:15] All these years seeing it.
[02:01:16] You know, on TV.
[02:01:17] It was just.
[02:01:18] I mean, it was in the trailers everywhere.
[02:01:19] And I was like.
[02:01:20] What?
[02:01:20] Freddy?
[02:01:20] On fire?
[02:01:21] How's that possible?
[02:01:22] That cornfield scene though.
[02:01:24] Is.
[02:01:24] Is.
[02:01:24] Is.
[02:01:25] Is.
[02:01:25] Almost up there.
[02:01:26] With the pool scene too.
[02:01:28] You know.
[02:01:29] Hey.
[02:01:29] It's fucking good.
[02:01:30] It's.
[02:01:31] It's what you remember man.
[02:01:32] It's.
[02:01:33] Also.
[02:01:33] Also as cheesy as it is.
[02:01:34] I love the line reading on.
[02:01:36] Man that goalie was pissed about something.
[02:01:37] Yes.
[02:01:40] The fact that he just underplays that line.
[02:01:42] And then Freddy possesses him.
[02:01:43] And you're kind of like.
[02:01:45] So you get a callback to two.
[02:01:47] Where he's possessing somebody.
[02:01:50] There's just so many throwbacks and callbacks.
[02:01:53] And for both franchises.
[02:01:55] Well.
[02:01:55] I'm glad you mentioned it dude.
[02:01:56] Because I see so many.
[02:01:57] They.
[02:01:58] They hated this one.
[02:01:59] And it.
[02:02:00] If it wasn't who won.
[02:02:01] It was just like.
[02:02:02] The style.
[02:02:03] I'm like.
[02:02:03] Well.
[02:02:04] We're talking about a modern movie here.
[02:02:05] We're not in the 80s anymore.
[02:02:07] You know.
[02:02:08] You know why there wasn't a sequel.
[02:02:09] Right.
[02:02:10] Money.
[02:02:12] No.
[02:02:13] I thought it.
[02:02:13] Blade 3.
[02:02:14] What.
[02:02:16] Blade.
[02:02:17] There's a video.
[02:02:19] On.
[02:02:20] Line.
[02:02:21] Of.
[02:02:21] Robert Anglin.
[02:02:22] I.
[02:02:22] I think he's on Conan.
[02:02:24] And he's asking him a bunch of questions about the movie.
[02:02:27] And.
[02:02:27] Robert Anglin.
[02:02:28] Leans over.
[02:02:29] And they subtitle.
[02:02:30] And it says.
[02:02:30] There's going to be a sequel.
[02:02:32] But.
[02:02:33] Because Blade 3.
[02:02:35] Did not do well in the box office.
[02:02:37] They.
[02:02:38] Canceled sequels.
[02:02:39] And they did not.
[02:02:40] Do the sequel to Freddy vs. Jason.
[02:02:42] Thanks Leslie.
[02:02:44] New Line.
[02:02:44] New Line went bankrupt.
[02:02:45] Right.
[02:02:46] Yes.
[02:02:46] Because of Blade 3.
[02:02:48] New Line was printing money.
[02:02:50] Because of Lord of the Rings.
[02:02:51] And then went bankrupt.
[02:02:52] And all of that shit.
[02:02:53] Had like an avalanche effect.
[02:02:55] Oh my goodness.
[02:02:56] They should have done a trillion.
[02:02:57] And it started with Blade 3.
[02:02:59] Wow.
[02:03:00] Yeah.
[02:03:00] They should have crossed it over.
[02:03:02] It would have made money.
[02:03:03] Blade vs. Jason vs.
[02:03:04] Whatever.
[02:03:05] Well the second one was supposed to have.
[02:03:07] Either Ash.
[02:03:09] Or Michael Myers.
[02:03:10] Right.
[02:03:10] I know.
[02:03:11] Yeah.
[02:03:12] It would have been.
[02:03:13] I would have seen.
[02:03:14] It's funny because.
[02:03:14] New Line buying Jason in the first place.
[02:03:17] Was sort of the original Disney buying Fox.
[02:03:20] Right.
[02:03:20] Yeah.
[02:03:21] They bought Jason to do Freddy vs. Jason.
[02:03:24] Warner Brothers.
[02:03:25] Is still in the red apparently.
[02:03:26] From their budget.
[02:03:27] It was.
[02:03:28] It was in development hell.
[02:03:30] That long.
[02:03:31] That right around part seven.
[02:03:33] Right around New Blood.
[02:03:34] They were thinking Freddy vs. Jason.
[02:03:36] And it was in development for that long.
[02:03:38] If you follow the history.
[02:03:39] Of all the alternate scripts.
[02:03:41] And all the writers.
[02:03:42] That took a crack at it.
[02:03:42] That far back.
[02:03:43] All the different directors.
[02:03:45] Who were attached to it.
[02:03:45] It is one of the longest development.
[02:03:47] Hells in history.
[02:03:48] That's where.
[02:03:50] The scripts were.
[02:03:51] Where he was a camp counselor.
[02:03:52] Or janitor.
[02:03:53] I know the guys who are credited with the script.
[02:03:55] Said it was like their fifth draft.
[02:03:57] And they were just so burned out.
[02:03:59] I believe the fifth draft.
[02:04:00] Yeah.
[02:04:00] It's like.
[02:04:01] It shouldn't be this hard to get them together.
[02:04:03] It's fine.
[02:04:03] Isn't that the same.
[02:04:04] The same screenwriting team.
[02:04:06] Who went to do the Platinum Dunes Friday the 13th?
[02:04:09] I think you're right.
[02:04:10] Yeah.
[02:04:10] I think they worked on.
[02:04:12] They've done a lot of Butterslasher tributes.
[02:04:13] And they've appeared in a lot of the famous documentaries.
[02:04:15] That have come out since.
[02:04:18] But man.
[02:04:20] Jeez.
[02:04:21] People need to just be grateful once in a while.
[02:04:23] When something actually happens.
[02:04:25] Look up.
[02:04:26] Look up Robert Anglin on.
[02:04:27] I think it's Conan.
[02:04:28] I promise I will.
[02:04:30] Yeah.
[02:04:30] And he.
[02:04:30] He leans over and he goes.
[02:04:32] There's going to be a sequel.
[02:04:33] And then Blade 3 came out.
[02:04:35] And it ruined all of it.
[02:04:36] What about Freddy versus Jason versus Conan?
[02:04:39] Fuck.
[02:04:40] That can't happen.
[02:04:41] He's got all his magical wigs.
[02:04:43] And all that.
[02:04:44] Jim.
[02:04:44] Where are you laying on this homie?
[02:04:47] We're almost done.
[02:04:47] Oh.
[02:04:48] It's.
[02:04:48] It's more like Nightmare on Elm Street.
[02:04:51] With Jason Guest starring.
[02:04:53] I love that.
[02:04:55] All that was missing was it was set on Amityville.
[02:05:00] Oh Jesus.
[02:05:01] Don't say that.
[02:05:02] I know.
[02:05:03] It'll be original next month.
[02:05:04] Jim and I did an episode where we were talking about all the endless Amityville movies.
[02:05:09] Amityville.
[02:05:09] Amityville.
[02:05:09] The house that's like three miles from my house.
[02:05:12] It's like Children of the Core.
[02:05:12] Where do you start?
[02:05:13] Oh you're nearby that place?
[02:05:15] Wow.
[02:05:16] The house was in Tom's River.
[02:05:18] I'm in Brick.
[02:05:19] Oh my word.
[02:05:19] That's right by my house.
[02:05:20] Tom's River.
[02:05:21] Yeah.
[02:05:22] Oh I get library books from them.
[02:05:24] Right.
[02:05:25] Why?
[02:05:26] Yeah.
[02:05:26] I use OCLC and I reserve books from all over the states.
[02:05:30] He's in Maryland.
[02:05:31] Yeah.
[02:05:32] And I've gotten a lot of times.
[02:05:33] Or it was the real life homicide life on the street.
[02:05:36] Like the actual house was in Haddonfield, Long Island but like they filmed it in Tom's River.
[02:05:42] Oh my word.
[02:05:44] All right.
[02:05:44] So Jim, is it a good movie or a disappointment?
[02:05:47] It's okay.
[02:05:49] Okay.
[02:05:50] So it's a free out of five.
[02:05:52] Okay.
[02:05:52] Yeah.
[02:05:53] All right.
[02:05:54] Gabe.
[02:05:55] Speak to me baby.
[02:05:56] Speak to me.
[02:05:57] I like it.
[02:05:58] It's definitely a good Nightmare on Elm Street movie.
[02:06:01] I think Jason doesn't really have a character if we're being honest.
[02:06:06] So it's a good thing they focused on Freddy because I know in the original script or well
[02:06:11] one of the original scripts Jason talked.
[02:06:13] Jason talks to hell.
[02:06:16] Love, no love.
[02:06:18] I couldn't exist.
[02:06:19] Logan in the 90s.
[02:06:21] I don't think that would have worked.
[02:06:24] Glad they did.
[02:06:25] Speak more like beeper from.
[02:06:26] He spoke.
[02:06:27] He's like, I'm Jason.
[02:06:28] I'm Jason.
[02:06:30] You're ready to die?
[02:06:31] Yeah.
[02:06:32] Hey everybody.
[02:06:33] Hey everybody.
[02:06:34] Nah, that sounds more like Worf the dog.
[02:06:36] Not Worf.
[02:06:37] Oh.
[02:06:38] Barf.
[02:06:38] Barf the dog.
[02:06:40] I would like to see Worf bite.
[02:06:42] I mean, Worf versus Barf.
[02:06:44] By the way.
[02:06:45] This is a good day to die.
[02:06:46] Barf's not a dog.
[02:06:47] He's a mog.
[02:06:49] He's his own best friend.
[02:06:50] Yeah.
[02:06:51] I am son of mog.
[02:06:52] Actually, since he's a mog.
[02:06:56] If you combine it with gremlins, he's a mogwad.
[02:07:00] Oh, it does all come back to gremlins.
[02:07:03] I love it, man.
[02:07:04] Guys, the jury's out whether this episode is going to be as long as Crystal Lake Memories.
[02:07:10] We're going to split up.
[02:07:10] Or as long as Never Sleep Again.
[02:07:13] That one was pretty long.
[02:07:15] That one was like seven hours.
[02:07:16] We're going to wrap up after this one.
[02:07:18] I'm friends with Leslie Dean, by the way.
[02:07:20] And she's going to come on our show one day.
[02:07:22] Nice.
[02:07:22] Hey, dude.
[02:07:24] But yeah.
[02:07:26] We got like two extra questions.
[02:07:28] And we'll speak for those.
[02:07:30] Okay.
[02:07:30] So, Gabe, you think it's a good movie?
[02:07:33] Or a lesser movie?
[02:07:35] Yeah.
[02:07:36] It's a good movie.
[02:07:37] I like it.
[02:07:38] The soundtrack's great.
[02:07:40] Yep.
[02:07:40] El Nino does the end credit song.
[02:07:44] Nice.
[02:07:44] But yeah.
[02:07:45] We're going to split it.
[02:07:45] Mark Rizzo from El Nino.
[02:07:47] But yeah.
[02:07:48] To answer Jack's question, we are going to split these up into favorite moments also.
[02:07:51] Because I knew we were going to.
[02:07:53] There's so much universal love for these franchises.
[02:07:55] You know.
[02:07:56] We're going to talk.
[02:07:57] So, Mac.
[02:07:59] Do you think this is a good Jason movie or a good Freddy movie?
[02:08:02] A good Freddy movie.
[02:08:03] Also, a waste of Catherine Isabella after seeing her kick ass in Ginger Snaps.
[02:08:08] I thought they completely wasted her here.
[02:08:10] That's a good point.
[02:08:11] She was like, man.
[02:08:14] That is my dream wife right there.
[02:08:16] She got redeemed with American Mary, though.
[02:08:19] Ginger Snaps versus Jason.
[02:08:21] Oh, my God.
[02:08:21] That would be fucking crazy.
[02:08:23] But yeah.
[02:08:24] American Mary.
[02:08:24] That's a good callback.
[02:08:27] Bill.
[02:08:28] What do you think?
[02:08:29] Yeah.
[02:08:30] I don't have a whole lot to add here.
[02:08:31] It doesn't try to be anything more than it is.
[02:08:34] Which is taking two action figures out of the toy box and throwing them against each other.
[02:08:39] A wrestling match.
[02:08:40] It's surprising how many horror fans I see who hate action, but they're big wrestling fans.
[02:08:44] I'm like, doesn't that play into the same thing?
[02:08:46] Okay.
[02:08:46] For real.
[02:08:46] The only thing is, I wish Jason kind of would have taken a more active role in the fights because it seems like he mostly just stands there and lets Freddy pummel him with all kinds of stuff.
[02:08:57] And then he gets blown.
[02:08:58] Body language.
[02:08:59] Yeah.
[02:09:00] True.
[02:09:02] All right.
[02:09:02] So across the board.
[02:09:04] I can't believe this.
[02:09:06] That's awesome.
[02:09:08] Some truths are universal.
[02:09:14] Awesome.
[02:09:15] Oh, man.
[02:09:16] Okay.
[02:09:16] So I don't expect everyone to have seen all these.
[02:09:19] So we're going to just go right for this one.
[02:09:21] Okay.
[02:09:21] So best TV spinoff.
[02:09:24] I'm going with Nightmares.
[02:09:25] All right.
[02:09:27] Nightmare in the series.
[02:09:29] I have not seen any.
[02:09:30] I have never seen an episode of either series.
[02:09:32] Friday the 13th series was not anything about Jason.
[02:09:35] Right.
[02:09:36] So what do you mean?
[02:09:38] Well, not it was Freddy's Nightmares past the first episode.
[02:09:42] I thought it was pretty cool.
[02:09:44] So Eddie was in one of them.
[02:09:47] Yes.
[02:09:47] He was in the first one and that was it.
[02:09:49] Oh, there were so many great episodes.
[02:09:51] There's even one that's a blatant like space opera parody.
[02:09:55] There, there's so many others where you're like,
[02:09:57] there's a reason these guys later worked.
[02:10:00] A lot of the head writers on that later worked on Stargate and
[02:10:03] Tells from the Crypt.
[02:10:05] Nice.
[02:10:05] And in both cases,
[02:10:07] doesn't it just kind of feel like an anthology series that is
[02:10:11] presented by?
[02:10:12] Friday the 13th spin out.
[02:10:13] Because the Friday the 13th show was a Canadian show about an
[02:10:16] antique shop.
[02:10:17] Yeah.
[02:10:17] It felt more like a treasure hunting.
[02:10:20] It had nothing,
[02:10:21] it had nothing to do with the,
[02:10:23] the Freddy.
[02:10:24] There was more sexy and pulp type tells in the second season.
[02:10:28] Every episode presents needful things.
[02:10:32] Right.
[02:10:33] Basically.
[02:10:34] It was supposed to feature an episode at one point where Jason's mask was
[02:10:40] going to be the,
[02:10:40] the,
[02:10:41] uh,
[02:10:42] kind of object.
[02:10:43] Oh yeah.
[02:10:43] Whatever reason that never happened.
[02:10:45] They can't.
[02:10:45] And it's so dumb because they gave it extra years.
[02:10:48] You're like,
[02:10:49] come on,
[02:10:49] man.
[02:10:50] Um,
[02:10:51] but yeah,
[02:10:51] the,
[02:10:51] the Freddy show was cool because it all,
[02:10:53] I just loved all the different people that it focused on,
[02:10:57] you know,
[02:10:57] various reporters,
[02:10:58] kidnappers,
[02:10:59] robbers,
[02:11:00] sex workers,
[02:11:00] scientists,
[02:11:01] prisoners,
[02:11:02] campers,
[02:11:02] lawyers,
[02:11:03] and cops.
[02:11:04] Sometimes on the dark side was better than both of them.
[02:11:06] Yeah.
[02:11:07] Oh shit.
[02:11:09] Shots fired.
[02:11:09] Outer limits beats it all.
[02:11:11] The original outer limits.
[02:11:13] I like both.
[02:11:15] I like night gallery.
[02:11:17] Night gallery.
[02:11:18] Night gallery.
[02:11:19] Oh,
[02:11:19] okay.
[02:11:19] I just said tells from the crib.
[02:11:21] Come on.
[02:11:21] I like.
[02:11:21] That triumphs.
[02:11:22] Zone 2002.
[02:11:24] Well,
[02:11:25] to be fair,
[02:11:26] right over there.
[02:11:27] Hey,
[02:11:28] to be fair,
[02:11:28] it's a spinoff of the original one.
[02:11:30] Cause it brings back the evil telekinesis kid.
[02:11:33] Um,
[02:11:35] okay.
[02:11:35] So we got a vote from me,
[02:11:38] Jack and Jim for Elm street show.
[02:11:41] Who else said?
[02:11:43] Okay.
[02:11:44] Ryan said,
[02:11:45] okay.
[02:11:46] I have to abstain.
[02:11:47] I've never,
[02:11:47] I haven't seen either.
[02:11:48] So I got to abstain.
[02:11:49] All right.
[02:11:50] And no one else has seen any of these.
[02:11:52] Nope.
[02:11:52] All right.
[02:11:53] I want to throw one extra thing in here.
[02:11:55] If I can,
[02:11:56] there is a Friday,
[02:11:58] the 13th fan film on YouTube called,
[02:12:02] Oh,
[02:12:02] what's it called?
[02:12:03] It's never,
[02:12:05] never.
[02:12:05] I promise we're going to review some of the fan films on here.
[02:12:10] Is that the one with Darcy,
[02:12:12] the male girl in it?
[02:12:14] I know.
[02:12:15] It's one boy 13.
[02:12:18] This guy is a camping out alone near crystal Lake.
[02:12:22] And he has to face off against Jason.
[02:12:24] It's like a survivor thriller,
[02:12:26] but it's really well made.
[02:12:27] And it's got the actor that played Tommy Jarvis in part six.
[02:12:32] He comes back.
[02:12:33] wow.
[02:12:34] I think it's never,
[02:12:34] never,
[02:12:40] never hike in the snow or.
[02:12:42] Yeah.
[02:12:42] Never hike.
[02:12:44] Never kill again.
[02:12:46] Yeah.
[02:12:46] Can I ask you a question?
[02:12:47] And me and my co-host Vinny have discussed this.
[02:12:50] What did Jason do in the winter months?
[02:12:53] Hibernate.
[02:12:54] Hibernate.
[02:12:55] I love how he said it.
[02:12:57] Because we talked about this for a long period of time recently.
[02:13:01] And it's like,
[02:13:02] well,
[02:13:02] Jason,
[02:13:03] you know,
[02:13:03] Michael Myers on,
[02:13:04] not on Halloween.
[02:13:05] He does nothing.
[02:13:08] If,
[02:13:08] if you're awake,
[02:13:09] Freddie does nothing.
[02:13:10] What does Jason do in the winter months when nobody's at his camp?
[02:13:14] And cause you could just not go to camp.
[02:13:15] I can die.
[02:13:18] Both,
[02:13:18] both the canceled platinum doom sequel to the remake and the canceled series.
[02:13:27] Well,
[02:13:27] I guess now it's back on with a different show runner.
[02:13:29] We're intending to feature Jason in the snow at one point.
[02:13:33] That was a thing they wanted to do.
[02:13:35] And I think,
[02:13:36] I think when Dave Bruckner was going to make the second platinum dunes movie,
[02:13:41] he also was thinking,
[02:13:42] I want to set it at winter time and do some shining stuff.
[02:13:45] Oh boy.
[02:13:47] That's an answer.
[02:13:48] What Jason does in the winter months.
[02:13:50] You can just not die in a Friday,
[02:13:53] the 13th movie by just not going to crystal lake.
[02:13:55] Just don't die,
[02:13:56] man.
[02:13:56] Just don't die.
[02:13:57] Just don't go there.
[02:13:58] Ryan,
[02:13:59] I think we both know the answer in the winter months.
[02:14:01] He leaves footprints.
[02:14:02] Yeah,
[02:14:03] that's it.
[02:14:03] He just walks around.
[02:14:05] Or he's hibernating and rejecting.
[02:14:08] So here's my final thought.
[02:14:09] I know I,
[02:14:10] I'm sure Cam has more things,
[02:14:12] but my final thought is,
[02:14:14] I'm just telling the points.
[02:14:15] If you don't want to die in a Friday,
[02:14:17] the 13th movie,
[02:14:18] just don't go to crystal lake.
[02:14:20] Don't fucking die.
[02:14:22] Don't have sex.
[02:14:24] Oh no,
[02:14:25] that's scream Oreo.
[02:14:26] Copyright infringement.
[02:14:28] I'm just kidding.
[02:14:28] I don't know.
[02:14:31] So platinum dunes,
[02:14:33] right?
[02:14:33] Yes.
[02:14:34] Michael Bay.
[02:14:36] I'm sorry.
[02:14:37] Couldn't help.
[02:14:39] I mean,
[02:14:40] he worked on Texas Chainsaw.
[02:14:41] They should have just kept mixing those two together.
[02:14:44] Yeah.
[02:14:47] probably had copyright issues deal to deal with.
[02:14:50] And whoever owned it too.
[02:14:52] Mm-hmm.
[02:14:53] That's always the biggest thing.
[02:14:54] It's like,
[02:14:54] who has the rights to whatever film?
[02:14:58] Well,
[02:14:58] no platinum,
[02:14:59] no platinum dunes movies has gotten a sequel,
[02:15:01] except for the quiet place movies.
[02:15:03] That's true.
[02:15:04] And Gabriel Duet is also for nightmares.
[02:15:07] there you go.
[02:15:08] And so,
[02:15:09] yeah,
[02:15:09] now we're on,
[02:15:11] who has the better remake?
[02:15:13] And,
[02:15:13] and the answer is Friday,
[02:15:15] the 13th.
[02:15:16] Friday,
[02:15:16] Friday.
[02:15:17] You know,
[02:15:17] I figured this much.
[02:15:19] Let's end this thing.
[02:15:21] Friday.
[02:15:22] Let's go.
[02:15:22] The answer is neither one.
[02:15:24] I don't know,
[02:15:25] dude.
[02:15:25] I kind of,
[02:15:25] neither is great,
[02:15:26] but you can disconnect.
[02:15:28] I tried more.
[02:15:29] You know,
[02:15:29] I would rather watch the remake than the first three movies of the original.
[02:15:33] I do think that objectively,
[02:15:36] if you can disconnect from the entire series,
[02:15:38] that Friday,
[02:15:38] the 13th remake,
[02:15:40] that's a good movie.
[02:15:42] It actually is.
[02:15:43] He takes hostages.
[02:15:45] Yeah.
[02:15:46] It's a different Jason.
[02:15:47] It's a fast Jason.
[02:15:49] It's a fast Jason.
[02:15:50] So he,
[02:15:51] he ran only in four or excuse me,
[02:15:54] three.
[02:15:55] He ran only in three,
[02:15:57] which he does in the remake.
[02:15:58] He runs in part two.
[02:16:00] A little bit.
[02:16:01] He ran more than the sequel.
[02:16:03] It's a goal.
[02:16:04] So,
[02:16:05] you hate the dead remake?
[02:16:06] What?
[02:16:08] He,
[02:16:08] he doesn't take hostages in any of them.
[02:16:11] The remake.
[02:16:13] And Freddie,
[02:16:15] they turn Freddie into a child fucker,
[02:16:18] which I know Wes Craven toyed with,
[02:16:21] but he decided not to do that.
[02:16:23] It's too much.
[02:16:24] No,
[02:16:24] the Platinum Dunes,
[02:16:25] Nightmare on Elm Street sucks on every level.
[02:16:28] And those are smart.
[02:16:28] So uninteresting.
[02:16:29] Waste of Plancy Brown.
[02:16:31] Boy,
[02:16:32] I'll take that down.
[02:16:33] It's bad.
[02:16:33] How dare you,
[02:16:35] Do I have to,
[02:16:36] can do I have to pick one?
[02:16:38] Yes.
[02:16:39] Or,
[02:16:39] or you can say neither.
[02:16:41] Or you can say,
[02:16:42] I don't want to vote this year.
[02:16:43] I don't want to vote this year because they both suck.
[02:16:46] All right.
[02:16:46] Ryan,
[02:16:47] can I tell you something that I believe in my heart of hearts?
[02:16:49] Yes.
[02:16:50] Eric Mears is the best Jason.
[02:16:53] What was that?
[02:16:54] Oh,
[02:16:55] Eric Mears.
[02:16:56] Okay.
[02:16:56] Those are some fighting words.
[02:16:58] He's the only actor who turned Jason into a character.
[02:17:02] He's the best Jason.
[02:17:03] It made him scary.
[02:17:04] Are we talking to Jack?
[02:17:05] That was a scary Jason.
[02:17:07] Jack in the box here.
[02:17:07] Come on now.
[02:17:09] All right.
[02:17:09] So Lucas,
[02:17:10] which had the better remake?
[02:17:12] Jack,
[02:17:13] I'm going to respectfully disagree with you.
[02:17:16] All right.
[02:17:16] That's fine.
[02:17:17] We,
[02:17:17] we got it in this guy.
[02:17:18] So Ryan,
[02:17:19] do you know who Derek's favorite Jason is?
[02:17:22] Who?
[02:17:22] Dead white.
[02:17:24] He said he took all his inspiration from him.
[02:17:27] Okay.
[02:17:28] I'm glad he had inspiration.
[02:17:29] So Lucas,
[02:17:30] what do you think?
[02:17:32] Sorry.
[02:17:35] I guess if I got a pick,
[02:17:36] I'll go with Friday.
[02:17:38] I mean,
[02:17:39] you don't have to vote if you don't want to,
[02:17:40] because at least for the first 25 minutes,
[02:17:43] it's great.
[02:17:44] They had a great Friday,
[02:17:45] 13th short film.
[02:17:47] There was some camp,
[02:17:48] even though it wasn't quite there.
[02:17:49] I will give you points to Nana visitors.
[02:17:51] She did good as you Palmer's role.
[02:17:55] After,
[02:17:55] after that,
[02:17:56] it just,
[02:17:56] yeah,
[02:17:57] it's got good kills,
[02:17:58] but that's,
[02:17:59] that's about it.
[02:18:01] What are you thinking?
[02:18:02] The theater.
[02:18:03] Friday all the way,
[02:18:04] Friday all the way.
[02:18:05] This is one of my favorite Friday,
[02:18:06] the 13th movies.
[02:18:07] I love this.
[02:18:07] Oh,
[02:18:08] Hey,
[02:18:08] I think park,
[02:18:09] I think park and I are on the same page on this one.
[02:18:11] This Jason is the scariest Jason in the franchise.
[02:18:14] Hands down.
[02:18:15] Well,
[02:18:15] because I find disappointing,
[02:18:17] but it's perfectly watchable.
[02:18:18] And to Jack's point,
[02:18:19] I would have seen a sequel to a remake.
[02:18:21] I think it would have fared way better.
[02:18:23] It's just way more self-aware.
[02:18:25] Oreo,
[02:18:25] what are you thinking?
[02:18:26] I'm going with Elm Street.
[02:18:30] Okay.
[02:18:32] I liked it.
[02:18:34] I know you liked it.
[02:18:35] Why?
[02:18:37] It was different.
[02:18:40] And I like Jackie.
[02:18:41] Jackie's really good.
[02:18:42] He,
[02:18:43] yeah,
[02:18:43] he wasn't the problem with that movie.
[02:18:44] It was everything else.
[02:18:46] All respect to Jack Earl Haley.
[02:18:48] He's a great actor.
[02:18:50] Rooney Mara flat out to admit she did not want to be in the movie and
[02:18:53] purposely did a bad job.
[02:18:55] Poor Kellen Lutz.
[02:18:57] Yeah.
[02:18:58] Jim,
[02:18:59] where are you going to go?
[02:19:00] Friday the 13th.
[02:19:01] I have to,
[02:19:02] because I didn't see the Elm Street remake.
[02:19:07] Gabe,
[02:19:08] talk to me,
[02:19:08] buddy.
[02:19:09] Talk to me,
[02:19:09] Goose.
[02:19:10] Friday the 13th,
[02:19:11] for sure.
[02:19:12] I hate the Nightmare on Elm Street remake.
[02:19:14] I think it's good.
[02:19:16] It's such an annoying music,
[02:19:17] too,
[02:19:17] that just is like,
[02:19:18] why is it getting louder?
[02:19:20] People are talking.
[02:19:21] I just went to a screening of the Friday the 13th remake.
[02:19:25] Really?
[02:19:26] In the theater.
[02:19:26] Yeah,
[02:19:26] we went to a screening.
[02:19:27] We showed in the theater.
[02:19:28] And I'll tell you,
[02:19:29] man,
[02:19:29] revisiting it after all this time,
[02:19:31] like that,
[02:19:31] it really works with an audience.
[02:19:33] It's still bad.
[02:19:34] It's still good.
[02:19:35] It's so bad,
[02:19:35] it's good.
[02:19:36] When I saw it the first time,
[02:19:38] I wasn't totally sold on it,
[02:19:39] but rewatching it the other day,
[02:19:40] I think it's a really good movie.
[02:19:43] Objectively,
[02:19:43] I think it's a really good movie.
[02:19:44] Objectively,
[02:19:45] I love this,
[02:19:45] man.
[02:19:46] I love it.
[02:19:46] All right,
[02:19:47] so,
[02:19:47] Mac?
[02:19:49] I hated the Nightmare on Elm Street remake,
[02:19:51] so I'm just going to go with Freya the 13th on general principle.
[02:19:54] I haven't seen it,
[02:19:55] but I'm just going to go with...
[02:19:56] Oh,
[02:19:56] no,
[02:19:56] no,
[02:19:57] no,
[02:19:57] no,
[02:19:57] no,
[02:19:58] no,
[02:19:58] you can't write it.
[02:19:59] Have you seen any movie?
[02:20:01] That was Oreo,
[02:20:02] who was playing it out.
[02:20:03] you can't stick the page out of my book.
[02:20:05] All right,
[02:20:05] so,
[02:20:07] let's just say not applicable.
[02:20:09] Yeah,
[02:20:09] yeah.
[02:20:11] These nuts.
[02:20:12] Um,
[02:20:14] okay,
[02:20:14] so Bill,
[02:20:15] talk to me and close us out.
[02:20:18] Never seen either.
[02:20:20] Okay,
[02:20:21] not applicable,
[02:20:22] but writing the 13th due to the amount of writing ins,
[02:20:26] and only one dissenting vote is going to win.
[02:20:31] So now I got to tally these fucking things up.
[02:20:34] Damn.
[02:20:35] Okay.
[02:20:35] I can't count five.
[02:20:37] Stop.
[02:20:38] Let me talk.
[02:20:39] Go.
[02:20:41] Yellow V slope.
[02:20:45] Okay,
[02:20:46] so...
[02:20:46] 42,
[02:20:48] carry the five.
[02:20:49] No,
[02:20:50] this isn't Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy,
[02:20:52] asshole.
[02:20:53] Got one.
[02:20:54] 42,
[02:20:55] and that's it.
[02:20:56] Five to one.
[02:20:57] Yeah.
[02:20:59] Okay.
[02:21:00] So,
[02:21:01] tallying this up,
[02:21:02] because math are hard.
[02:21:04] Okay,
[02:21:04] so Elm Street 1,
[02:21:05] part one,
[02:21:06] 13th one,
[02:21:07] part two.
[02:21:08] Elm Street 1,
[02:21:09] part three.
[02:21:10] Please stop.
[02:21:12] 13th one,
[02:21:13] part four,
[02:21:14] five,
[02:21:14] and six.
[02:21:15] Couldn't believe it.
[02:21:16] The whole Tommy Jarvis saga.
[02:21:18] One.
[02:21:19] And part seven,
[02:21:20] one,
[02:21:21] obviously.
[02:21:22] Um,
[02:21:24] you got the touch.
[02:21:27] This is not a Transformers.
[02:21:29] copyright strike for that.
[02:21:30] Yeah,
[02:21:31] part eight,
[02:21:32] one.
[02:21:33] So,
[02:21:34] wow,
[02:21:35] it's really closer than I thought.
[02:21:37] that's what she said.
[02:21:39] Fuck off.
[02:21:41] Um,
[02:21:44] part eight got a dissenting no,
[02:21:46] part nine also got a dissenting no.
[02:21:50] that's a disservice right there.
[02:21:52] I know,
[02:21:52] I know.
[02:21:54] Jason X,
[02:21:55] surprisingly,
[02:21:56] all of us loved and.
[02:21:58] Just going to show how diverse the films have become of the years.
[02:22:03] Cam,
[02:22:03] were any of the movies unanimous?
[02:22:05] Yeah,
[02:22:06] both.
[02:22:07] Um,
[02:22:07] Jason X was unanimous.
[02:22:09] I couldn't believe it.
[02:22:10] And there you go,
[02:22:10] guys.
[02:22:11] If we ever get together,
[02:22:12] we'll,
[02:22:12] we'll watch Jason X.
[02:22:13] Yes.
[02:22:13] Jason X.
[02:22:14] And versus was pretty much the same.
[02:22:16] You were the only dissenting vote saying it's disappointing on read,
[02:22:19] but no,
[02:22:21] no,
[02:22:21] I,
[02:22:21] I,
[02:22:21] I think it's okay.
[02:22:23] And I think someone else agreed with me.
[02:22:24] Okay.
[02:22:24] Okay.
[02:22:25] So you did love it all.
[02:22:26] Okay.
[02:22:26] No,
[02:22:26] no,
[02:22:26] I'm on the fence.
[02:22:27] I said I was on the fence.
[02:22:28] Oh,
[02:22:28] you got it.
[02:22:29] I got to be in Jim.
[02:22:30] You got to be in Jim.
[02:22:31] I thought it was just okay.
[02:22:32] Well,
[02:22:33] okay.
[02:22:33] It's still passing.
[02:22:34] So.
[02:22:36] I give it a C.
[02:22:38] That's still passing.
[02:22:39] Okay.
[02:22:40] I want to give it a D.
[02:22:43] Oh,
[02:22:43] my word.
[02:22:44] Stop.
[02:22:45] Okay.
[02:22:46] So with all these 14 points,
[02:22:49] I have to split the book.
[02:22:51] Who won?
[02:22:52] Who won?
[02:22:53] Stop.
[02:22:53] Seriously.
[02:22:54] Okay.
[02:22:55] So.
[02:22:57] So that's a win for Freddie.
[02:23:00] And the versus.
[02:23:02] Win for Elm Street.
[02:23:03] Jesus.
[02:23:04] This is closer than I thought.
[02:23:06] Okay.
[02:23:07] So.
[02:23:09] Okay.
[02:23:11] Ultimately.
[02:23:15] Jesus.
[02:23:16] This is so close.
[02:23:18] How am I going to break this tie?
[02:23:21] Okay.
[02:23:21] So.
[02:23:22] Again.
[02:23:23] Elm Street one,
[02:23:23] one,
[02:23:24] three,
[02:23:24] and seven,
[02:23:25] obviously.
[02:23:26] And.
[02:23:27] No one wins on part eight and nine,
[02:23:29] obviously.
[02:23:30] And so.
[02:23:31] So.
[02:23:31] But that still gives Jason points on.
[02:23:35] Two,
[02:23:36] four,
[02:23:37] five,
[02:23:37] six.
[02:23:38] And 10.
[02:23:40] And the remake.
[02:23:42] Nice.
[02:23:42] But again,
[02:23:44] it's kind of a win for both of them as a good movie.
[02:23:49] And Freddie won the versus.
[02:23:52] So.
[02:23:53] Jesus.
[02:23:55] What do I pick?
[02:23:57] I got to flip.
[02:23:59] Jason.
[02:24:00] Jason.
[02:24:02] Jason.
[02:24:02] Okay.
[02:24:03] It's too loud.
[02:24:03] Freddie.
[02:24:05] Freddie.
[02:24:05] Freddie.
[02:24:06] All right.
[02:24:07] No.
[02:24:07] So I'm on the fence here guys.
[02:24:09] We're.
[02:24:09] It's so close.
[02:24:10] Well,
[02:24:11] this is a shitty podcast.
[02:24:12] I quit.
[02:24:14] You'll be here next Tuesday.
[02:24:17] I guess we're going to fight it out in the courts.
[02:24:20] I guess.
[02:24:21] 14 points.
[02:24:22] I thought it was going to be pretty straightforward.
[02:24:24] How do we want to do this gang?
[02:24:25] And then we'll end.
[02:24:26] Wait,
[02:24:26] is it a tie?
[02:24:27] That's what I'm saying.
[02:24:28] It's a tie.
[02:24:29] How about we go around the room right now and say Freddie,
[02:24:31] Freddie or Jason.
[02:24:33] No,
[02:24:33] I don't know,
[02:24:33] man.
[02:24:34] I kind of.
[02:24:34] No,
[02:24:34] no,
[02:24:34] no,
[02:24:34] no,
[02:24:34] no.
[02:24:34] See,
[02:24:35] it's about.
[02:24:36] Well,
[02:24:37] leave it.
[02:24:37] It's not.
[02:24:37] You want to leave it the ambiguous ending of Freddie versus Jason.
[02:24:40] With a wink.
[02:24:42] With,
[02:24:43] with the Freddie.
[02:24:44] Then we're going to get hate mail.
[02:24:46] We got to decide.
[02:24:47] Are we?
[02:24:48] Yes.
[02:24:49] Because then we're going to get hate mail.
[02:24:50] Are you not used to getting hate mail?
[02:24:52] I get hate mail all the time.
[02:24:54] I know.
[02:24:54] I know.
[02:24:55] But if we actually hate mail,
[02:24:56] you're not doing something right.
[02:24:58] I know.
[02:25:00] I've had to start a new Twitter because I got new hate mail.
[02:25:03] We got to break the tie because it's going to,
[02:25:05] this franchise is going to face off with other franchise versus.
[02:25:09] Oh boy.
[02:25:10] It's a final.
[02:25:10] It wouldn't make sense if I play Freddie once and then play Jason in the next.
[02:25:14] You know what I mean?
[02:25:15] Yeah.
[02:25:16] Hey,
[02:25:16] you know what I'm saying?
[02:25:17] To quote.
[02:25:18] We all own all the movies on physical media.
[02:25:21] Yes.
[02:25:22] I'm still trying to get those discount.
[02:25:24] Blue rays.
[02:25:24] I am.
[02:25:25] I have the Freddie's on VHS and DVD.
[02:25:27] I have all of the Freddie movies on DVD.
[02:25:29] I have the first Friday.
[02:25:32] I have the Fridays on VHS,
[02:25:35] DVD,
[02:25:37] twice,
[02:25:37] Blu-ray twice.
[02:25:39] I have the Jason on DVD,
[02:25:41] but the Freddie's on VHS and DVD.
[02:25:44] I don't know any of them on DVD or Blu-ray.
[02:25:46] All right.
[02:25:47] Well,
[02:25:47] then,
[02:25:48] you know,
[02:25:48] let's decide this.
[02:25:49] It's way,
[02:25:50] way,
[02:25:50] way,
[02:25:50] way past my bedtime.
[02:25:51] Right,
[02:25:52] right,
[02:25:52] right.
[02:25:52] We all got to sit in.
[02:25:54] We got to pick a winner.
[02:25:56] You know,
[02:25:56] it's still close.
[02:25:58] Freddie is the most creative killer.
[02:26:00] Jason just keeps getting killed.
[02:26:02] Has nothing to do with the winner.
[02:26:04] Let's go alphabetically.
[02:26:06] Your flag.
[02:26:07] Okay.
[02:26:07] Freddie wins.
[02:26:10] Wait,
[02:26:12] wait,
[02:26:12] wait,
[02:26:12] wait,
[02:26:13] let's do it as a coin toss.
[02:26:15] All right.
[02:26:15] That'll work.
[02:26:16] Jack,
[02:26:16] you want to do the honorary coin toss?
[02:26:21] I love it.
[02:26:22] I can't believe it.
[02:26:23] I did not expect this at all.
[02:26:25] Is he giving up to feed his cats?
[02:26:26] Those beautiful,
[02:26:27] majestic cats?
[02:26:28] No.
[02:26:29] Although,
[02:26:30] what do you think,
[02:26:30] cat?
[02:26:31] Meow.
[02:26:32] I love cats.
[02:26:33] Everyone loves cats.
[02:26:34] I got two cats,
[02:26:35] and one's Freddie,
[02:26:36] and one's Jason.
[02:26:37] I have four.
[02:26:38] It's Freddie,
[02:26:39] Freddie,
[02:26:39] Freddie,
[02:26:39] and Freddie.
[02:26:40] Not Perkins,
[02:26:40] Spock.
[02:26:41] All right.
[02:26:42] So,
[02:26:42] are you ready?
[02:26:43] I'm going to flip it.
[02:26:44] And Ryan,
[02:26:45] Ryan,
[02:26:45] you're voting Freddie,
[02:26:46] right?
[02:26:47] Yes.
[02:26:47] Okay,
[02:26:48] so flip it,
[02:26:49] and you call in the air.
[02:26:51] Heads.
[02:26:52] Hold on.
[02:26:53] No.
[02:26:54] All right.
[02:26:56] It's Heads.
[02:26:57] Oh!
[02:27:00] Freddie wins.
[02:27:00] Freddie wins.
[02:27:03] The child killer wins.
[02:27:04] Sorry, Lucas.
[02:27:04] I'm sorry.
[02:27:06] I like Jason.
[02:27:07] I'm sorry.
[02:27:08] It's all good.
[02:27:08] The child molester killer wins.
[02:27:11] He's a killer.
[02:27:12] He's not a molester
[02:27:13] until the remake.
[02:27:14] So,
[02:27:14] just a minute.
[02:27:16] I'm going somewhere with this.
[02:27:17] It's child killer versus rapist,
[02:27:19] I think.
[02:27:20] There we go.
[02:27:21] We both win.
[02:27:22] He's a killer remake.
[02:27:24] How do we end this thing?
[02:27:26] It's all faster bedtime.
[02:27:27] Thank you all for playing the game.
[02:27:29] I can't believe we relented.
[02:27:30] I did not know it was going to be this close.
[02:27:32] Four hours.
[02:27:33] I thought so many were just going to even out by just numbers.
[02:27:37] And even then,
[02:27:38] it wasn't enough.
[02:27:40] I'm never going to be invited back on this show because of this.
[02:27:43] No, you're fine.
[02:27:44] Stop.
[02:27:58] Uh-huh.
[02:27:59] It was so much tongue-in-cheek humor.
[02:28:01] We kept the momentum going.
[02:28:03] It's all good fun.
[02:28:04] As far as I'm concerned, guys,
[02:28:06] you are all the decorations and Christmas came early.
[02:28:10] Thank you all so much.
[02:28:11] Thank you for having me.
[02:28:13] Thanks for having me.
[02:28:14] Thanks for the invite.
[02:28:15] Thanks for having me.
[02:28:16] This was fun.
[02:28:17] Thank you.
[02:28:17] Jim, you were our star we put on there.
[02:28:20] Lucas, you led the charge.
[02:28:22] Ryan and Parker,
[02:28:23] you perfectly played off each other.
[02:28:25] You guys should guest on each other's show.
[02:28:27] Absolutely.
[02:28:27] So I had fun just with the nostalgia factor.
[02:28:30] Mac, holy shit, dude.
[02:28:32] Mac, Mac, Mac.
[02:28:33] You owned it.
[02:28:35] Just like your name.
[02:28:36] Gabe, I loved how you just kind of reminded us,
[02:28:38] hey, guys, we're all here to have fun.
[02:28:41] You were the peacekeeper.
[02:28:43] Jack, you were the moderator.
[02:28:44] I don't know what the fuck I did other than make more lame jokes.
[02:28:48] I'd rather argue about movies than any other subject.
[02:28:51] So you guys really made my night.
[02:28:52] Thank you so much.
[02:28:52] That works.
[02:28:53] I'll argue movies all day long.
[02:28:56] Oh, yeah.
[02:28:57] Much like this line,
[02:28:58] the points don't matter.
[02:28:59] We'll get along great.
[02:29:00] Right.
