[00:03:18] or now the guy working with Jason Statham and Kurt Wimmer, guys he meant to work with for a while

[00:03:23] and now finally is working with.

[00:03:25] And I'm just like, he will always be Mr. East LA Crime Fiction Guy.

[00:03:36] They just don't look at scripts or they think, oh, he's not that great.

[00:03:46] He's doing pretty good for a guy who started off reworking movies like Taking Lives and a Steven Seagal film.

[00:03:55] And not getting credited for a lot of the stuff he did in the first place.

[00:03:58] Right, and the Fast and Furious is like, I don't count that as his East LA movies, but he came up...

[00:04:05] Like, there's such a difference with the style and dialogue along compared to where the franchise later goes.

[00:04:16] That's why he was so vocal against Suicide Squad when it came out, because he's like, that's not what I worked on.

[00:04:28] I knew people who worked on the Fantastic Four movie from 2015.

[00:11:30] from LA Confidential kind of reuse...

[00:11:38] You know, Elroy, for those who don't know, is just known as authoring LA Confidential,

[00:11:48] But he wrote all those LA Quartet, another just hard-boiled stuff.

[00:17:50] And he had been in plenty of movies that I had seen but didn't realize.

[00:17:54] And for me, he was always like, oh, yeah, it's the dad in Stuart Little.

[00:18:52] And going back to our original conversation about 99 and 2000s films failing and trying something new.
