[00:00:00] This podcast is a production of Unfiltered Studios. If you would like to know more about joining Unfiltered Studios, please visit our website at unfpod.com for more information. Stand over there. We came, we saw, we kicked its ass. Did you see it? What is it? We got it! What is it? Will there be any more of them?
[00:00:23] Sir, what you had there was what we refer to as a focused, non-terminal repeating phantasm or a class 5 full roaming vapor. Real nasty one too.
[00:01:18] Yeah, before Men in Black, there was the other sci-fi, action, comedy, horror franchise known as Ghostbusters. Fritters! Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Let's talk about Fritters. Now let's talk about Ivan Reitman, Harold Ramis, and Bill Murray's, and Dan Aykroyd's crazy contraption. Let's not forget Ernie Hudson. He got short-shifted in that movie. No shit.
[00:01:46] But they kind of made up for it. Like, they kept casting him in all the spinoff material. I think he even appeared on the cartoon in like a live-action segment, but we'll get into that. So, for the movies, first off, it is kind of wild. Like, you know, for something that could have just not worked. You know, it was very chaotic behind the scenes. They had to redo the effects. And recasting. They had to recast. Yeah. They always had rumors about Eddie Murphy trying out, but they didn't... Apparently it wasn't for Winston. It was like for some other role in the app.
[00:02:16] No, he was gonna be Bankman, actually. Had to, it was. Yeah, and everyone always thought. And Leo Roberts was gonna be Dana. I hadn't heard about that. Yeah. I'd heard about, yeah, Eddie Murphy in the black guy role. Well, that's what, that's what Oreo was saying. It's like, a lot of people thought it was Winston, but it was like a different role before they recasted it. And then James Belushi was supposed to be a Bankman role. That's why they said it was John. John was supposed to be, was supposed to be Bankman.
[00:02:46] And what happened was he died for the, you know, unfortunately, he passed away. Yeah. And so what they did was they created Slimer as kind of like a tribute to Belushi, because, you know, Belushi was like a wild, you know, wild guy. Right. But yeah, in original... That is not, that is not entirely true. There's a little bit of humor to that. I want to kind of, uh, go back to that one. It's fine. We're open panel. We're just talking about the role. Yeah. No, no, no. It's kind of funny on that one.
[00:03:14] That, uh, the whole thing about, uh, Slimer be supposed to look like Belushi. Um, the truth and the lie on that one was that Dan Aykroyd did ask Slimer to be made to look more like John Belushi. Yeah. The Slimer, uh, puppet had already been made. Yeah. And so they just said, uh, we're done. What do you think?
[00:03:45] And Aykroyd looked and said, it's perfect. Just a minute. Right. So I think that's just it. Like a lot of it started off as rumors. Then people started interviewing and listening to, uh, Ivan Reitman's commentary and some of the stuff kind of got rewritten while other stuff was still kind of a gray spot. But I think that's just it. Like, growing up... It was supposed to be called Ghost Smashers and they were going back in time to stop ghosts. Because Ghostbusters was already taken. Yeah.
[00:04:14] There was a, uh, filmmation. Filmmation show called Ghostbusters and they were like, they were like, okay, how can we get around it? So when the cartoon came out, they had, they had the real Ghostbusters. And then they were, they were, they just had Ghostbusters, the filmmation show. Mm-hmm. And that filmmation show is funny because... They came out at the same time. Yeah.
[00:04:38] But the original filmmation show with Larry Storch and Forrest Tucker is funny because that had a show that had Bob Burns as the trainer of Tracy the gorilla. Mm-hmm. Or the gorilla. And it was really Bob Burns in an ape suit, you know. Yep. But, um... The thing was, I can't remember like that Ghostbusters show coming out and I'm like, the toys coming out. I remember, wait a minute, that's not, that's not, that's not them, you know. And then all of a sudden it's like, oh, wait a minute, hold on.
[00:05:06] So it was too, it was, you know, they had to, filmmation had to put the brakes on the cartoon. Yeah. Well, I love that cartoon though. That intro. Oh, that cartoon. It was great. But it's funny, the real Ghostbusters cartoon, a lot of the scripts were written by J. Michael Strzezinski. Yes. That's where he started. The writer of Spider-Man. Yeah. So I find that like absolutely mind blowing. Like you gotta be kidding me. It was him.
[00:05:33] I think, I keep thinking for some reason, Frank Santopadre was in there. Possibly, but yeah. I don't know. That's what was wild. No, Frank Santopadre did Eek the Cat. I'm sorry. But either way, like what you're saying is all kinds of, all kinds of comic book people and future sci-fi guys got their start there. And I think that's what's so wild. It's just kind of like Gremlins and Indiana Jones. You see people who don't like these kinds of genres, but they whole love Ghostbusters.
[00:05:59] They can show it to their kid, despite it being risky at times and intense. It's always just kind of, it's been just, you know, 24 seven, you know, on HBO and VH1. It's just, I can't, I'm never surprised when it's on TV and people are doing a all day marathon. Right. She sleeps above her covers. They can stick some feet above her covers. Or feet above her covers. Like what kind of message does he do? Goddamn it.
[00:06:26] What kind of like message does it send when he's carrying 50 cc's of Thorazine? I know. To like, that's not rapey at all. Yeah. I'm like, why is he carrying that? Like, where did he get that shit? How did he find that? Like back off. I think that's what's so wild too. It's just like, kind of like all these other movies and shows we talked about.
[00:06:49] There's bizarre cases or bizarre aliens in this case is like, you're getting just about every kind of crazy demon or being. And that's okay. Cause it's all there just to generate laughs. And I know Ackroyd said that he wanted his and Bill Murray's interaction to be kind of like Captain Kirk and Spock in a way. It's like, they're getting weird readings. And Slimer is such a bizarre contraption. He's funny one minute and then scary the next.
[00:07:19] He's like, man. I found Slimer to be like, like when they did the cartoon. The thing I loved about Slimer was that he was like, he was part of their group now. You know, he wasn't. He was, you know, like he'd been. Yeah. The mascot. Yeah. That kind of happens in the second movie, but yeah. And the cartoon, same deal. They're like, yeah, we turned him. Well, and that's where the Slimer name comes from because he's, he's referred to as Spud.
[00:07:45] He doesn't get the Slimer monitor until the cartoon. The kind of like Pinhead and Hellraiser. They took a while. Pretty much. Yeah. Work up to it. Going back to when you were talking about the creation of Slimer. Um, I heard a story where the guy who create, and if I think it was an interview with the guy who created said he was really high when he was working on that. Yeah. And he thought, and he was saying he was seeing the ghost of Jim Belushi. And when he finished the puppet. The ghost of Jim Belushi.
[00:08:17] The ghost of Jim Belushi's career. Oh. When he finished, or yeah. When he finished the puppet, Jim Belushi looked at him and said, or I mean, I'm sorry, James Belushi looked at it. I'm getting my names confused. I'm not. Belushi looked at it. All right. Anyway. And he said, he said, that doesn't look anything like me. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No. And you're, that story is actually the correct one. Cause the, the creator actually used the words coked out of my mind. Yeah.
[00:08:47] And it was like created slimer. And it was Steve Johnson who later went on to work on a star track, battlefield, earth, even species. And that that's like a career highlight for him. Cause you know, he had to actually create all these puppetry and. Yeah. And I mean, whenever anyone says stay puff, you know, I'm like, I know exactly what kind of a fan you are. You have seen. He's a sailor. He's in. He can get them laid.
[00:09:20] Did you think of anything? No. Did you? No. I didn't think of anything. Ray. Ray. And it was so funny. What'd you do Ray? What'd you do Ray? head actually that is the running joke amongst all of our friends as soon as someone goes uh-oh all of us go what'd you do ray that is that is the go-to phrase these days what'd you do ray
[00:09:47] it's kind of a jerk asshole mentality one of them goes you know just laughs mildly while the others you know have belly aching laughs you know it's just there's all kinds of humor there's all kinds of effects by industrial light magic you're just like yeah i think my favorite line in that is it was all right here till dickless cut off the power this is true yes it's true sir this man has no dick
[00:10:10] this guy has no dick yeah oh my god uh i don't know about you guys writing commentary oh sorry because you're talking about will atherton in that line i always love what they say about that on the the commentary of the first movie that uh that that scene um ruined will atherton personally for a
[00:10:38] while oh really yeah i mean it didn't hurt his career but people would have caught him so pissed because everywhere he went um everybody wanted to reference his character and all that's like die hard they're like that uh that he took from everybody wow oh come on it's better than when
[00:11:00] he did a freaking real genius real genius you don't like oh oh i love real genius real genius is a great movie but yeah we're not trashing it we're just saying the kind of roles he's doing yeah yeah no i'm just saying that was a great character he was evil in that one yeah but atherton made a career out of playing assholes let's be honest yeah he's such a good
[00:11:26] guy he's so mild-mannered but man is the man excel at playing a jackass yeah it's like it's like it's like what's gonna call uh gd spradlin the guy who played the senator and godfather played every every dickhead you know you know one-on-one with with yeah i think rob robby benson you know the coach who treats him like shit and he's like it's like this guy's a real dick you know he
[00:11:51] loves being those war criminals or just other just religious top-notch villains he's like man they're funding all this everything wrong with the world um but yeah atherton yeah that's just it like he i'm kind of like paul gleason i'm just like i'm always surprised when he plays a nice guy i'm like because he does the bad guys and i kind of confused him for a while with the guy from gremlins 2 oh yeah oh uh John Glover yeah John Glover no no yeah yeah John Glover yeah yeah
[00:12:20] john glover who i met in person all right how was that uh i was at east coast comic convention at uh meadowlands convention center and they had kevin conroy um god bless him kevin conroy
[00:12:43] and uh a bunch of people i saw uh what you'll call it at the end and i'm like i'm like dude you're you're i saw you in uh i saw you in smallville he's like oh thanks i didn't know you were the voice of the riddler yeah i didn't know that either yeah from the original animated series yeah i was like every other dc production i guarantee you he's in it yeah he was also great in love velour
[00:13:09] compassion where he played uh um one of the characters yeah that's the movie with him and i think it's jason alexander and it was a play out it was one of those terence mcnally plays on broadway that got like really good reviews oh nice i remember you know but who could forget his who could forget his classic role as a scientist in batman and robin oh god as i said every other dc movie um and show it all goes through y'all go through john glober

[00:15:51] versus darth vader solid snake versus the iron giant classic matchups like robocop versus terminator and even the muppets versus sesame street that one was crazy so if you're a fan of geek culture and love a spirited debate check out the who would win show wherever you get your podcasts or check us out at who would win show.com here's the one thing like the second one when it came out i barely i don't
[00:16:18] remember i mean i remember there was they made the poster you know two you know with the with the making the two and then it came out and i think it was like the same time it was like in that 89 avalanche so many battles here yeah it was you know batman you had indiana jones the last crusade batman you had glory you had glory and gremlins 2 i think came out that no gremlins uh the next year
[00:16:45] but same same kind of deal we're adjusting to the late 80s early 90s we're getting just we're getting overwhelmed we're getting caught up with life so and the story just seemed very like generally you know oh yeah i felt like they just wanted to sell an album because bobby brown is featured not only once but twice twice yeah it's a happening song but like it's a good album but
[00:17:11] like half the time i'm like i feel like they got the cinematographer from the rocky movies because every other scene is a montage and the song bobby brown does literally spoils the whole fucking movie how does anybody feel about the ones that followed after those two i didn't like the i didn't like the all female one i didn't like yeah i like 16 and i like extreme ghostbusters i have thoughts and chris
[00:17:35] hansworth was in that one too yeah but it it almost killed the franchise because i think i think number one i'm so tired of people thinking you must be a sexist it's like i went with an open mind i went for campy and i was just like this didn't and that's what it sucks too is i see people going oh how can you you know like this and now part two and it's like guys part two wasn't all that well received back then either it's just people like to rewrite history and it's like i think
[00:18:04] this is dead it was lightning in a bottle it's just so hard to recreate the funny part about the hatred towards 2016 is that everybody hates the female ghostbusters but they never probably didn't need me in the ghostbuster or kylie no but it was like i don't know it's like i just felt like it was like something was missing i don't know if it was the script i don't know if it just rushed it i think well that's watch the extent i'm just gonna come out and say it i will say exactly where i put my
[00:18:32] blame on 2016 and it's the director yeah it's flat out the director's fault that it's not the cast um he did a good job the weakest link in the cast it was melissa mccarthy but um yeah kate mckinnon and leslie jones were good casting what uh leslie jones got done dirty really i enjoyed her yeah i know they aimed the bus at her i i know kevin from the office you know he had his own podcast where
[00:19:01] he actually invited ernie hudson on the show but i mean uh he talked about how he got cast last minute to do a random cameo yeah he and then they brought him back they're like he's like really and he sees the movie and he's like okay it's whatever like or hate it but he's like but then he sees all the time that went into and he's like well why did they they spend so much time on gags that don't really move anything forward yeah how many you know how many writers did it have on it
[00:19:29] oh a bunch yeah that's what i figured it doesn't well and that was the problem it really felt like a saturday night live skit that was completely out of control they didn't know what to do with it the only redeemable thing about the film is that time square scene where they go back in time and they have the whole that was breakout of the ghost that was cool that was something that was inventive and kind
[00:19:57] of like okay that kind of elevated and then it took that hard dive into saturday night live nonsense again and they just couldn't get the wheels going on and isn't it funny and the thing is i still um almost take offense to hearing this that this movie had writers or a script it really didn't no it was just punchline after punchline after punchline that's a good point because like
[00:20:24] well no but the thing is the director and they they all have talked about this and i'm blanking on his name if somebody's like i said he's done a good job on freaks and geeks but anytime he does serious like it or hate it but like every every other thing i've seen him do i'm just like well did he do yeah yeah yeah he worked on it but see that's just it like outside of tv i've just been like okay he just
[00:20:53] gets very full of himself and i feel like he's one minute he's at judd apatow the next minute he's just too full of himself because like i saw spy and uh i think as as a contrast to this you know that's the melissa mccarthy jude law comedy yeah they actually filmed they were halfway for production and filmed it as a straight face movie and then decided why don't we make it a comedy i'm like
[00:21:16] you hack you didn't know what you're making so i think that's just it i think he he dicks around so much i did see the heat with saundra bullock and it's so funny it's like my brother hates everything he's like whatever you do i know you love stupid action comedies don't watch that i watch it i'm like whoo that's i kept waiting for last ignite there's the thing i've always said about like if you're gonna do something if you're gonna make something you know at least have a link to the to
[00:21:44] the to the original movies the one thing yeah the one thing it does the one thing i liked about the commentary they had on it yeah for the heat but i mean that but then i got even more annoyed when i saw the fans kind of acting like star wars fans going oh yeah critics you know the next one that came out is way better i'm like i'm not seeing much difference here really it's true it's it's just a
[00:22:08] rehash of the first film and then frozen empire but that again is where i have to put a lot of blame on the director is like when in this case it's ivan's kid sexist vitriol started to come out he leaned way too heavy into it and then left his stars out to fend for themselves that's true he started
[00:22:34] a fire but then didn't evacuate anybody so then you're just like well what are you trying to prove here buddy but like he brought in new characters and then in the sequel they get sidelined for the main for the other ones like what the fuck well and then here's here's the other thing that i i really want to bring up is that um so it's idw right that yeah that has the right
[00:22:57] even way more original with those comics so i bought the entire um run of their first crossover ninja turtles yeah yeah no 2016 ghostbusters with the current lineup of the comic book ghostbusters
[00:23:20] oh yeah okay and it was good like with with those characters in capable writers and dynamite both make good use of their properties you know dark courts did too in all fairness but like i mean you flat out you mixed together again you know uh with their idw comics they mixed men in black they mixed uh ninja turtles they mixed you know x-files and they're fighting zombies that's yeah infestation
[00:23:50] arc but yeah that was star trek too yeah yeah put them in there and geo joe and i think that's just it like jason reitman don't get me wrong pretty solid guy you know he's not his dad though he's not his dad but i'm going somewhere with this like is like because you know saturday night not and totally up in the air uh young adult thank you for smoking pretty good satires he's had some misses like
[00:24:19] labor day and juno's a one-time watch for me but i'm like he gets to afterlife and i'm just like see this this feels like a made by committee movies i'm not getting your voice and then you had the nerve to end with a marvel after credits style you know ending with you know hudson coming back as winston and you know undressing a car that he's about to take out for a ride i'm like come on man
[00:24:43] and it's just and then but i i just i still haven't watched um was it afterlife yeah okay so yeah my sister saw it in theaters she recommended to me i saw it recently that was probably the worst one i know mike really dug it i was i liked it i liked afterlife afterlife is that the one with christina ritchie no that's casper you're thinking of casper anyway so no no okay he's not in this
[00:25:12] anyway uh so that's the other crossover for you uh casper versus the ghostbusters uh well it'd be better than this so yeah i i just didn't like this one because like it was kind of reminding me of jj abrams where he just froze in just scenes from better movies it's like great i already saw that movie but just showing it to me again doesn't mean anything i liked feeling the proton that i turned on and her firing that fucker up that felt good in dubious twice that was awesome that that was like
[00:25:41] we wanted to hear like you know being a kid in the 80s loving loving those original the first ghostbusters and then you know the backstory you know like you know harold ramis's character having any pots back i just i guess yeah my problem is the kids were annoying they didn't pull out and carrie coon didn't have anything to do really i i liked it i liked it because you know you want you wanted to see the gang back together one more time and i think and no and let me know i know
[00:26:11] i'm hearing you i'm hearing you i'm sorry like you know we lost her we lost harold ramis yeah and you know i think you know the whole thing with him and the whole backstory of him and murray not you know having a falling out after groundhog day so you've found it healing personally you know and they and like you know when you see his his his ghost help his granddaughter and the three of them are looking and it's like you know hey you know like all you know all this you know they're
[00:26:40] talking to him and stuff it's like i think they're really bearing their feelings out you know like you know what was going on and like i was in the movie theater i was i was in tears you know watching really yeah because i mean to me it was like the it's like okay you got the four you got this new generation of ghostbusters and they're gonna they're gonna you know they got they got ecto-1 going they got the proton packs you know they're they're they're go fighting you know they're fighting uh you
[00:27:06] know i just saw this last week for any of this and like you know when he says hey remember me you know when bill murray said that everybody went nuts because it's like you know hey you know we know we know what's gonna happen here and when you saw when you saw the cgi of you know harold ramus you know helping the greater you know people were going oh wow you know i was just i was crying because you know the worst part about afterlife
[00:27:33] was jk simmons being wasted like that i was so yeah i was i was really like this whole fucking time i just want to point this out there wasn't an evil shandor film i just want to point this out there wasn't afterlife movies but it was after dot life with christina ritchie liam neeson yeah that's bad um but yeah so this one i guess i'm just like jurassic part i i love the original i will
[00:28:00] watch it anytime it's on i can't do any of the signals i just i just feel like they don't i like lost world though i i can do lost world it's great growing up because there's a book but yeah uh i mean spilberg doesn't even like the last one has a property that the film was based off of yeah fair enough and i read uh both of michael creighton's books oh and immensely enjoyed
[00:28:29] them as bizarre artifacts as they are lost world's pretty bad as a book but um well and i still am upset what they did to the hunter in the movie versus the book because in the book he's such a badass and then they just play him for the chump in in the first film i was like that was a horrible yeah like i don't like it compared to what they do to the lawyer oh yeah at least i can have fun
[00:28:57] with the original movie unlike these jurassic world singles so i think that's his debt like just the way bill marie just looks so terrible in this last one i was just he's old would you expect him to be young i expect competent makeup when you have i mean to be fair have you seen the guns on on freaking winston my god he's in great shape man he takes care of himself yeah
[00:29:22] i want to give him a hug he's amazing yeah he still has small part but they gave him a more important role as the guy who kind of creates the you know the you know does something with the business i guess yeah that's just it so i i will say this i do like seeing him back i like seeing any pots back uh you know it's just that they did have some fun with the different characters and but yeah i just
[00:29:49] the plus just really just makes me look at my watch i just can't get it well on that note on uh winston zedmore that was um about him being kind of the every man to talk to uh talk to the um layman viewer yeah um that was one of the things that i really enjoyed about the um the video game the official uh yes video game yep they actually pull in yeah they finally go back
[00:30:17] and he's voiced by Arsenio Hall on the cartoon yeah yeah it's kind of amazing who they got for the um for the ghostbusters cartoon because it was lorenzo music mm-hmm got frank welker yeah i gotta have frank welker um frank welker playing he do yeah any of the voices in the movie as well no okay i think is in there um uh what's what we call it the guy
[00:30:43] maurice lamarche as yes um egon gotta have the brain yeah and i thought and when we when we all watched his kids we're like okay well i let you know okay you know i get you know i get with the with the act you know but but like the guy playing egon is like really good and he's getting like you know cadence down when you're doing it's so funny when you look at who was supposed to play
[00:31:09] originally originally they wanted Yaphet Kotto and it's so funny the original script has him as a former air force major somewhat of a demolitions expert like and then once they're like he's cool let's just have to be a badass daddy murphy wasn't first consideration uh that they wanted him but that that's just it that like we were saying earlier like the originally uh that they just wanted him for
[00:31:37] what would have probably been yeah the bill murray roles but then you thought hey the black ghost buster that had to been them is like they were all these script changes were happening earlier on and i did like how you guys hit on you know it's like this almost didn't get made just because you know akroyd had to recover from belushi's death and he's like who am i going to cast in this would have been perfect having him here you know well murray murray and him had kind of like had a had a great relationship at snl so it was like yeah you know it's like all right if i've you know
[00:32:05] john's not there but you know what reggie heinz was almost considered also you know oh yeah that's right they also they also wrote for venkman for belushi yeah they did some changes when bill murray or bill murray came on to more go with his personality and you got to wonder what belushi's version would have been and John Candy passed oh that's true he definitely would have been whoever belushi played he would have definitely been the loudest voice in the room well i could have
[00:32:32] played zed more i always i always say this i always say this like if you look at it the the one the one thing that made those that those two first two great was Rick Moranis Rick Moranis was was the was like the lucky charm in that because every time he played it was just you know what was the tully was the last name yeah something like that yeah when he played when he played that character like when he
[00:33:00] first gets possessed he's like are you the key master oh you know you know it's like he has the party in his house and you know the you know it's it's like he's like he's this nerdy you know this guy and it's so wild how when Sigourney Weaver transforms you know they do still make her very seductive like a cat and you're just like but she was having a lot of fun you know this is before working girl and some of the other comedy and thriller roles she does and before aliens too
[00:33:27] yeah yeah right yeah i was just do you want this body first aliens yeah this was before so you figure she was filming that during ghostbusters because ghostbusters was her first comedy yeah i right i think uh no no it wasn't deal of the century remember that one oh that's right uh i choose not to we'll get we'll get we'll get to it when we cover freaking but we don't have
[00:33:57] enough time oh my god i know i saw it for the first time this year and uh the less said the better um so um i like her in galaxy quest okay oh we're not hating on her we're just saying she's in a bad comedy by a master of perfection um don't bring up galaxy quest this whole thing will become a well and there is a connection to galaxy quest because like ivan reitman was supposed to direct that and then you know he got her you know to be part of the cast and then once he dropped out she
[00:34:26] had to audition for it again i'm like can you believe the commitment and so i think that's his there's a lot of commitment here to this one you know like this this buster shouldn't have worked well you gotta think ivan reitman has this thing where he he they bring in like Elmer Bernstein who's like this great composer and you know he he'd done stripes you know two or three years before that and then murray built yeah yeah what was that yeah it was 82 82 and then you have bill murray
[00:34:55] you know bill murray having the success with reitman on uh on meatballs yeah he was looking forward to it but meatballs and stripes but yeah like after you know after ghostbusters 2 that was kind of at the point where then he's like you know before he starts his collaborations with arnold and some other comedic faces and scordney again he's just like i need someone who's going to behave on set
[00:35:18] i also you know uh uh when he does that robin williams comedy you know uh i think it's the best of friends i think yeah and he's like uh the best of times that's the time that's the time he was russell yeah that's just dead like that's a year later but like that's how taken back he was he was just like i can't afford to just have another flop on my hands i can't you know because that's just it
[00:35:45] he's very patient and he's also the reason he he lasted so long and same thing as his son is they're both good at you know thinking as a producer and as a director you know they're both like i always said about reitman was that he knew how to hit a certain vein with people or certain nerve with people with some of those movies like you know stripes you know we're all we're all rooting
[00:36:10] for you know you know ramus and uh and murray but we're right we're you know with the whole thing with the platoon you know warren oats comes in you know as the sergeant hulka and he's like he's interviewing everybody he's like he's like it comes to the guy francis he's like you know my name's i'm just psycho my friends call me psycho he's like he does the whole speech and warren oats just
[00:36:32] says light it up oh my god anybody looks even john larroquette's character in that film is just so spot on yeah i mean each is without him as the antagonist for the second act i mean it is just so there's a reason it's a quoted movie um i love yeah i love the scene where they all get busted for going to the mud wrestling he's like what happened he's like what happened well sir uh we were going
[00:37:00] to a bingo for uh we're going to church for a bingo game and uh you know a couple a couple of wrong turns and uh wound up in a really bad part and johnny christian goes shut up as bad as it is to say this i wish i was john candy at that moment oh god oh i see what you did there uh so have have you guys followed anything else like any other movies he's produced as well as how his daughter katherine
[00:37:25] is a sitcom actress no i don't know what movies else he produced yeah katherine was on the canadian sitcom working moms i think it's on netflix now but yeah but but yeah jason i do love his other work on thank you for smoking but uh but yeah it is so funny how ivan did he do orange county he didn't do orange county i think he produced but um you know then he does other stuff you know like father's day
[00:37:51] but i find it so funny how he still plays around with sci-fi once in a while you know and you know he gets another great comedic performance from sigourney weaver and dave but i find it so funny how he tries god that's a great movie it's a wonderful movie best president ever um but uh it's so funny how he plays around with ghostbusters again you know with evolution and it doesn't work at all
[00:38:16] evolution was a great movie to watch i like dude oh it's fun but it's not good i think i think that was i think that was the movie that that said david made david you tell me said you know what fuck the x-files like let me spoof that i think that's just it i think there are funny bits i think everyone else is just taken aback because Orlando Jones and sean and scott are just so crude and crap oh
[00:38:42] oh man i mean i'm yeah i'm still i'm still laughing at that part where they say how do we how do we kill this shampoo they're like what you know salson blue yeah why not you know they kill the entire alien race with salson blue it was like jesus god so that's where m night sound that is one of the all-time worst uh advertisement solutions in a movie that's up there with uh what
[00:39:11] was it uh the power rangers in crispy cream oh my god no i did like i rewatched 2017 recently that was good they just cut out i enjoyed the movie but that ending yeah the battle crispy do you ever see the uh the montage that somebody did of um how many times they said crispy cream oh no
[00:39:36] oh let me 200 times crispy cream we gotta get the crispy cream crispy cream crispy cream crispy cream and then they even did at the very end of it the slow quiet part where um elizabeth banks rita is sitting in the restaurant grabs the donut oh slow delicious bite in to this frosted donut
[00:40:05] that's like going for shawarma wow oh craziness man i mean if you really want to poke fun at you could poke fun at jurassic park and world because they're just product placements for every truck that comes out from like oh man every blockbuster movie you gotta have a ford truck blowing up
[00:40:29] look at my mercedes it's an suv someone's eating a kit kat bar somebody's tripping on some swing set by oh there's a funny product placement and um it's with andy arcia and i forget what cop flick it was but he's holding the pepsi cup and he's moving it up and down and it's the director telling him how to hold the cup but it's in the film affairs yeah that one oh wow yeah he's sitting in the car with his partner
[00:40:59] and he he just moving it up and then down i still laugh at the whole thing with the coke you ever see the movie volunteers with tom hanks and john candy yes yeah the coca-cola scene they were like oh yeah you can't do that that's a advertisement for coke and they didn't realize it yeah you know it was just it was yeah i i always got warned about it in college it's like you can always flip a logo and you can't possibly be sued as long as you don't like say blow up uh
[00:41:28] you know it can't be obvious yeah it can't be it can't be saying something like oh they're a terrible product you know it's got to be like mac and me with mcdonald's oh god nobody had to bring up that movie that was self-sabotaged by mcdonald's i'm convinced um i like you i would have gone with wade world no god that was hilarious that was like yeah no no opposite of of product placement
[00:41:58] i gotta go with um uh repo man everything everything is an alien here everything is just white labeled and just labeled whatever it is yeah i like in the heat of the night with that because the only the only literal product mentioned in the whole movie is in the beginning when the nerd is singing the seven up uh catchphrase or catch song
[00:42:27] what else let me see in the heat of the night they did a lot of covering of stuff too yeah there was in the one scene i took a screenshot of you can see a kroger box and i'm like okay so kroger's what does a kentucky version of kroger look like um and then in babylon 5 the best product placement yeah j michael did this so good
[00:42:51] he put uh lime green duct tape over a nutrigrain bar yeah it's called a ration ration i'm like really i'm like that's a nutrigrain bar i see the shape on the side it's gotta be great and so are you saying ghostbusters needed more car uh advertising maybe uh do you so does anyone find that car they they the mobile they drive as cool as the
[00:43:19] delorean the i don't know i think it's a good back and forth because you got already a difficult car to find with the 59 cadillac hearse because i either serve as a hearse or a ambulance and it was already rare to begin with before they got hold of it the delorean is just a piece of shit well you have to go well i have i have driven that thing with and without the conversion i'm just saying it looks
[00:43:46] cinematically cool i didn't say i wanted to try well the new movies have really tricked out that ghostbuster car yeah it's got like a flip out it's got a flip out seat you know like a like a side seat i always expect i know this is two years before i almost expect colonial marines to pile out of that thing um but uh don't you love though how ray parker jr both made his career and kind of broke it on this like like the song comes out you know i knew i knew the song before i saw the movie and i was
[00:44:16] just like i just was so wild i'm like it was so similar you know hubby lewis says you owe me x amount yeah yeah it sounds too similar to i want a new drug i'm sure it was played to death on mtv oh absolutely yeah i mean they even appeared in the music video but i just found it so funny how you want to know who he was best friends with uh producer joel silver does that make sense like
[00:44:42] like those are both two people you can't tell have you seen the music video without music no oh it is so much funnier it just looks like he's talking to himself it's that he's chasing the girl around in her night oh i did hear someone say it looks creepy if you take the ghost away it's so bad but funny as hell wow are you saying ray parker's running out of the room like who are you gonna call
[00:45:09] ray parker oh i mean hey a woman needs love jay simpson wow i don't know if i love anyone better since we're in the 80s bill cosby oh you think you're the thing with the lady tell bill to have a coconut smell and shut the fuck up
[00:45:37] so right now it's the reason is the roofies i'll punch bill murray but put up with them cosby i'm giving him the electric chair okay i will defend answer the call i can't bring myself to watch the last ghostbusters movie it's there it's sitting in netflix where frozen empire wasn't that good you talked about bad fan bases it's barely an animated episode ghostbusters fans are might be the worst i will give you that them hellraiser star they're fucking
[00:46:06] terrible yeah well really because i heard i saw people even fast and furious guys get vicious and they hate every other action movie you're like i was laughing i was laughing when i saw like when frozen empire came out i saw people say like oh my god this is the 80s cartoon i grew up watching and i go see the movie and i was like i would never want to watch a cartoon like this
[00:46:29] like yeah it was trash i liked it but i was really disappointed with how quickly bad guy got wiped out so quickly like jesus christ really it was just so bloated it's kind of like they had to have all the new ghostbusters all the original ghostbusters and then the new ones new characters just reboot the fucking thing with the original characters like fuck man like well let's pick up the dead ones then they can pull an evil dead where he just time travels it's all better it can't be it doesn't
[00:46:59] fucking matter anymore he's there he's where go ever and but that's just it it's kind of amazing spider-man too everything that's going to come after it but you're doing such a garbage job of setting everything up that you're nothing's going to come after it yeah yeah right they really what they should have done and i don't get it because they should have had these kids and whatever that fucking first one
[00:47:23] was i could curse right and afterlife is so good yeah i would have killed them immediately because i would have said you idiot you're not scientists i don't give a shit who your grandfather is you're going against paranormal shit here and you have no idea what you're doing you're going to be killed instantly and they said no but i believe in myself or whatever the fuck
[00:47:45] happened so we have it so we have it on recording that you would open a ghostbusters movie by murdering children yeah those children yes let's kill them all why not just one of us yeah they're trying to be ghostbusters i have a very good joke i i will i will just say uh i i assume you're not talking about the one
[00:48:11] with vigo the carpathian which is also the last one that i ever saw so i have a good joke i have a good joke i love the vigo one i know a lot of people are down on two but i like i'll do you one better i love vigo mortensen he's a sweet guy who does it here's the crazy thing about with vigo the carpathian the actor was actually a worse villain than the character oh yeah
[00:48:40] he was a fucking lunatic bunch of people yeah i just want to know how they didn't cast angus scrim as vigo the carpathian that's true now they do have a superhero connection they did a giant crossover kind of like marvel zombies where they're fighting zombies with the ninja turtles x-files and star trek and ash conspiracy i read that idw was making use of all their
[00:49:05] yeah it's a cross art called conspiracy i read that years ago loved it i i will say just to finish just to finish my point on uh uh ghostbusters 2 no it was not a great movie but was i solidly entertained from beginning to end in that movie hell yes so guess what it was a good movie yeah yeah i would bring it all around by the fact that they're still referencing he-man in 1992
[00:49:32] you know and somebody has to do besides the canon film group now i do have to say if i'm not mistaken aren't the people who made that statue of liberty and ghostbusters 2 also the ones who worked on spider-man movies oh are they i didn't know i'm asking for a friend if they aren't they should be spider-man versus the statue of liberty is he a patient i would pay for that i
[00:49:57] would pay to see that that would be a wrestling pay-per-view you remember when they brought the statue of liberty to gotham city for some reason in batman forever and they just didn't mention it oh yeah i still have a small minute no reason it's probably like they had it in storage somewhere and like if i could just throw the statue over it in i blacked out uh how do you know so much about this pet game and what he does
